    Hmm spoiler free eh?

Okay, 10quid well spent. I'm rating this by how long i've played it against how long that tenner would have lasted in the pub so take that however you like :D

Yeah, story is quality, lots of dialogue, lots of shooting, some truly epic backdrops with a lot of attention to detail, read the notepads btw, lots more lore explained, and finally the M55 Argus Assault rifle, and to a lesser extent, the AT1 Raider shotgun, some multiplayer weapon mods made it into the dlc too, which is nice :) You'll get about 2-3 hours out of it on it's own.

    out of ten? Solid 8.

how is it accessed, does the main game interfere with it or can i do it at any time.

    Load a save or continue.

You should get a new message from Hackett I think saying to go to the citadel to meet a guy.

load any save before you start on sanctuary, check your mail on the terminal beside the galaxy map, that'll start it up. "Urgent messasge from Admiral Hackett"

    EG gave it a 7/10

It's up on the psn store now, it did not show up for me in the game's DLC option or searching the store for mass effect, found in the "latest" section of the store.

Downloading it now with my shìtty 3 mobile broadband. 2% done after around 15 minutes, should be finished sometime around mid-September at this rate.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,435 ✭✭✭Josey Wales

I'm thinking of waiting to see what other DLC gets announced before buying Leviathan. If there is a lot of single-player DLC like ME2 I might hold off and buy a ME3 Game of the Year Edition.

I've got UPC internet since start of the month and my PSN download absolutely crawl. I really don't get it

My older broadband was so much quicker.

UPC's speedtest (laptop) says I have a download speed of 21.08mps.

Just finished it and I think it's the best DLC in the series. Reminds me of the first Mass Effect. Full voice cast really makes it feel like a proper mission.

Mine is the same. This is something Sony really has to address with the next PlayStation.

Leviathan seemed very short to me.

Finished it and I wasn't expecting it to be over.

Might reload it cos I may have missed something.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,497 ✭✭✭✭noodler

I am reloading the same section in Act 2 because the same cut-scene keeps freezing.

Third time now - required two forced PS3 shutdowns already.

EDIT: Third time seems to be a charm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,497 ✭✭✭✭noodler

    Okay finished the DLC.

    Rather big Meh.

6/10 at a push and not worth 10e.

If you haven't bought it I'd say just youtube the ending - its he only payoff.

EDIT: A mod can take this down if they like but within the spoiler tags ahead I have a link to the end of the DLC. Could save you time any money.

EDIT: and here is the 90 seconds of dialogue that changes with StarChild

Thanks for that noodler , I was waiting for feedback from players before I bought the dlc. going to pass on it for now.

I really enjoyed the DLC. It was a bit short but adds a nice chunk of lore into the game.

    And...
well played Bioware, the misinformation that Leviathan was a rouge reaper completely fooled me.

I'd heard already about that, both from rumour and from those EC files (mistake by BW).

    By the way:

    Some Levi discussion:
If the Reapers only started with Harbinger and they only increased their numbers by one every cycle (i.e. every 50,000 years).....then how would they ever get sufficient numbers?

    Perhaps I misunderstood that part.

Operation VIGILANCE Weekend Operation September 7-9

Unexpected attacks have taken out several squads and damaged vital Alliance equipment. We will deploy drones to repair damage and investigate the nature of these attacks.

Allied Goal: Complete 250,000 escort missions on any difficulty.

    Special Circumstance: None

Individual Goal Success: All individual players awarded a Commendation Pack

The Squad goal is easy, but only if everyone know that there actually is a goal. Also, do not forget trolls who will have their goal completed and who will blast off a rocket with a few seconds to go. In addition, you cannot track if each of your team mates did not use an expendable.

You you need to do this witha friend on bronze imho.

In answer to your question noodler, the Reaper Extermination cycle has suppose to have been repeated for at least 37 million years. At least 740 cycles, so I guess that the minimum number of full Reapers.

That seems like a ridculously low number it has to be said.

Although maybe thats just the main ships rather than drones, destroyers etc.

  • Moderators Posts: 5,561 ✭✭✭Azza

Correct only 1 race each cycle is turned into a fully fleged reaper capital ship. The other species of a cycle are turned into destroyers and other support ships. Destroyers make up the bulk of the Reaper ship forces.

Bare in mind 37 million years may not be how old the Reapers are, its just the oldest known Repear after Habinger was a reaper corse that was 37 million years old.

You can find this info over on wikipedia and the Mass Effect wiki.

Is it enough for you yourself not use a consumable for this operation? Or does it have to be your entire squad that has to avoid using them?

I did solo runs on Bronze in an attempt to do it but

1st time: Got Bansheed on Wave 10 when attempting to upload

2nd time: Phantom out of nowhere one-hitted me...on Wave 10

3rd time: Upon reachong wave 10 I, for some unknown reason just used an ammo refill (reflex action)

4th time: I was blindsided again by another Phantom...on bloody.wave.10

    FML

if any team member uses any consumable, ye all fail the requirements.

Bronze geth solo. Geth cannot instakill. Also sellotape a coke cork over d-pad. That's the advice I was given.

Krogan, Firebase white, Geth, melee all the things.

You'll breeze through it, Krogans are bullet sponges on bronze.

If you use a vanguard or probably any of the newer N7 classes you can solo it, even if your weapons are ****.

Yeah, as I said, its not the difficulty.

Just bad luck with one-hoit kills.

More single-player and multiplayer DLC on the way but what's more interesting is a new game seems to be on the books.
Executive Producer Casey Hudson and his team are coming off an amazing eight-year run with the Mass Effect trilogy. But they’re not done yet. We are releasing more multiplayer content and we have more single-player stories coming throughout the next six months, including Omega which is coming in the Fall. But the Mass Effect universe is vast, and Casey and our teams have plans for another full game. “Where to go next?” with such a project has been a question a lot of us have been asking, and we’d all love to hear your ideas.

Not bothered about the single-player DLC anymore, finished with the story for good now and multiplayer is fairly dead too but a new game interests me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,751 ✭✭✭✭degrassinoel

so long as they dont make a feckin' mmo i'll pay to play whatever they dish up in the ME universe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,497 ✭✭✭✭noodler

I felt a bit shortchanged with Leviathan so I don't think I'll be bothered to go for anymore DLC on the single-player.

The gameplay is so-so and I'll probably be happy enough to youtube anything importance scenes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,775 ✭✭✭✭Gbear

Do you reckon they'll bundle them at some point? I haven't got any of the paid dlc.
It'd be nice to pick them all up on the cheap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,751 ✭✭✭✭degrassinoel

Not sure, i don't think they did with me2, could be wrong though.

    So mass effect trilogy confirmed.

    600x-1

More importantly though, Mass Effect 1 is coming to the PS3.

Thanks god. Really want to play it.

It might be difficult to go back and play the first. The story is superb, and has many great moments. The problem is the actual gameplay was much improved in ME2 and perfected in ME3. Still worth playing for the story.

Gameplay is kind of standard tbh.

Only thing I fear is Mako cruising.

Ah, the Mako. I'd forgotten about that. I did like the exploration though in ME1. The side-missions were much more open.

If they could've kept the openness but ditched the cookie-cutter buildings in ME2 and 3 I think it really would've added to those games.

I did have great fun with MAKO. There were just too many planets to explore.

^ My face when I read that.

    Edit:
The original Mass Effect will also be released separately on PlayStation 3 as a digital download.

They are releasing the trilogy as a set.

They are also releasing the first one as a digital download at a later date.

Nah, it's just with my awful internet connection it'll probably take two weeks to download.

But I'm glad it's coming out. Wonder if the games will have all the DLC?

So...is the WiiU getting this trilogy or are they stuck with one third of a story?

New MP expansion next week, Retaliation.

    Eurogamer link

So the usual new weapons & gear, TONS of new classes (16 if the article is to be believed, including Krogan Shaman Adept, Asari Huntress Infiltrator, Turian Havoc Soldier and Batarian Brawler Vanguard), 6 new maps but most of all is the inclusion of the Collectors as a 4th enemy type. Obviously a little crossover with Reapers since Husks in both but meh, more free stuff is ALWAYS good :D

Kudos to EA and Bioware for rollling out so much for so long for free.

Also, Operation Overdrive starts tomorrow at 6.
    Operation OVERDRIVE (October 5th-7th)

Based on intel recovered during Operation PATRIOT, we are anticipating a massive strike from the Reapers on multiple fronts. Our information officers and special-ops teams stationed behind enemy lines require immediate extraction.

Squad Goal: Full extraction on any map at any difficulty in 20 minutes or less. Squads can be any size.

Allied Goal: Complete 200,000 extraction waves on any difficulty. Squads can be any size. Full extraction not required.

    Special Circumstance: None

Squad Goal Success: All squad members awarded a Commendation Pack
Allied Goal Success: All players awarded a Victory Pack

So far they have only announced the third game. I'm sure the trilogy will follow after a while. There would be no point in them releasing the trilogy at the same time. It would just cannibalise sales of the third game.

Blog post outlines some of the changes coming to the MP system.

    http://blog.bioware.com/2012/10/08/developer-blog-updates-coming-to-me3-multiplayer/
We’re adding hundreds of new multiplayer challenges that can be completed at your own pace. As you progress, you’ll earn Challenge Points, essentially bragging rights. Completion of the top tier “Gold” challenges will reward you with a unique banner and title to display in the multiplayer game lobby. Gold challenges can be completed multiple times for even more points. We’ve also added an additional leaderboard to keep track of the points you collect.

The new system offers an in-game way to track your progress as you complete the challenges. But we’ve also built a new N7 HQ web page that offers a ton of information when you’re not playing, including character lists, leaderboards, and gameplay stats. In-game or online, you’ll have a comprehensive way to review your overall multiplayer progression.

We’ll still be running weekend events, but they’ll be a bit different. When you jump into multiplayer, you’ll be notified that there’s a new Weekend Challenge available. Just like the current Operations, these challenges will only be up for the weekend. But now you’ll be able to instantly track your progress. You’ll also get the spoils of your efforts as soon as you’ve completed the event. No more waiting for the next Tuesday (or longer) to get your Commendation Pack!

There will be a new Weekend Challenge available every weekend, not every two weeks like our current schedule. On top of the Weekend Challenges, we will be unlocking new kits and other surprises each week to help your squad in that next big push against the Collectors.

Knowing if you have accomplished an Operation goal straight after a mission (and getting the Squad Pack) will be great, no more wondering till Wednesday.

Also, Official details page on the DLC, no new maps but 6 existing ones now have chance for enviormental hazards. Also, Cerberus factions now have the "Dragoon" and Geth have "Drones" added to their rosters so even more goodies.

Have to say the new Challenge skins for player banners look a bit....."busy". I like the clean look the lobby has now, this looks a bit off.
