Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ballinhassig and Cloyne ended in a draw 1-18 each. William Egan's team Kilbrin surprisingly beaten tonight by 2 points in Duhallow junior hurling championship by Tullylease.

Yeah there wasn't much between them all night.
Very good win for Tullylease though.

Kilbrin ran last year's All Ireland junior champions Meelin to a point in last year's Duhallow final and were fully expected to win Duhallow easily this year but Kilbrin for me have 15 players who play as individuals and have no heart when the chips are down. Also heard Egan is not happy there.

As for the intermediate hurling Dromina and Cobh would have been 2 of the favourites before the championship to contest the relegation final.

Cobh have been going down hill for a while and will probably go down I'd say.
Haven't heard about Egan being píssed off - he can concentrate on the county team now and hope his club team just had a blip of a year.

Kilbrin have a back door route in Duhallow! So Egan will be busy with his club for a while yet.

Any idea when the draw for the next round of the hurling qualifiers is?

Looks like ye will have to wait a little longer to win in killarney lads, one soft all ireland in twenty years dont count for much down in killarney.

I suppose you could say the same about your hurlers for the past 100 years

Disapointing to come away empty handed from Killarney but it's a road we've been down before.

I see we got Galway in the hurling - I expect that will be a battle of the full forward lines!

The amount of fundamental errors that were evident today was frustrating to say the least - both on the field and on the bench. If we are to stand any chance of seeing Croke park in September these need to be addressed asap. Forget any of the 2nd half. Counihan needs to focus on how they managed to be destroyed for 35 minutes of the first half.

No need for that. That "Soft"All Ireland consisted of us beating DOWN a team that Kerry have never beaten in Championship. So grow up. If a few things had gone right for Cork today a different result may have happened

    Could not agree more.

I think though this might be the kick up the backside they need. The extra game should help although few teams will put it to us, but nobody will want to draw us either.

I still think Colm O Neill is major loss to Cork this year. This was year I think he would push on from the talent he has..

If the management learn from the awful mistakes then I rather suffer today for the long term gain.

O'Neill is a big loss but unfortunately it sounds like Sheehan might have done his ligaments in - he said he heard a snap, not a good sign. We picked up quite a few injuries today that hopefully won't be too bad and that they will be fine for the next day.

Ya Jesus Sheehan gone too and we really will have been hit bad, I just hope not as bad as looks *prays*.

Kerrigan I taught played blinder and was also the reason I felt Cork did not push on to get equaliser when he had go off. Croke Park will suit him too

Looks like Sheehan is out for the reat of the season. Coupled with Colm O'Neill it is a real blow for the forward line. Gould is at least a very good option and will start the next day. Nicholas Murphy should be back aswell. Cadogan will surely start aswell. Cork could benefit from the back door as long as they don't get Very Tough draws consecutively - a distinct possibility.

The strength of our squad is really going to have to come into play now. Losing two of our best forwards to the same injury is something you couldn't make up really. Nick Murphy prob would have been worth a point or two on Sunday, solely based on his ability to clean up in midfield. It'll be good to see him back. Gould is handy and Denis O Sullivan really showed his vying for a place after some of his recent performances. Paul Kerrigan was red hot on sunday once we got going. Hopefully his injury isn't serious or proves to be recurrent.

I dunno about avoiding the big teams in the qualifiers. Fcukit like. If you want to win sam you cant avoid anyone. We don't need a handy draw - we need good tough matches that come on to the wire and where our recent ability to see out tough games comes to the fore.

Avoiding Kerry a 2nd time round worked out very well in 2010 though ;)

I'm not sure about that. This team could get caught if they have to go to the well for every game from now on !!
I would much prefer a handy enough match next, make no mistake about it. We will not be able to play tough games from now till the final and win. I really don't think any team can play to their best all the way through the summer, chances are you'll get caught somewhere down the line.

I saw a team got a walkover in the senior hurling league last week as Bishopstown were scr ( I presume scratched) - what's the news there? Did I miss some news on them? Or was it a misprint?

I wouldnt be so certain that Fintan Goold will automatically replace the unfortunate Ciaran Sheehan in the half forward line. Fiachra Lynch may well see some action in this jersey too.

True, but more often than not Fintan comes on first, either way a bit of pressure on the starting 6 forwards is no harm at all.

Do you think we will beat Galway??

I personally am not too confident. If both teams play to potential I think Galway will win. I hope im wrong. Galway are very hard to predict but they have players that can win games..

I'm fairly optimistic that we will beat Galway. Our defence is fairly good, always has been while our full forwards are dangerous if given the right ball. I don't expect more than a few points in it at the final whistle but I think we will be on the right side of a narrow victory.

Just googled it and apparently alot of the reviews were originally by the company themselves. The word scam is thrown around alot on other sites, so beware. They apparently draw in all the 'free' streams from around the world and package them together. But they do have pros - a tenner gets you a year of their top package apparently.

You have to go with tradition. Galway always struggle to beat Cork and this game will be no different.

Interesting game awaits us today in the Gaelic Grounds. I fancy Galway to win this 1 but they have only played 1 good game in the championship this year in last weekend's win over Clare and over the years have proved to be very inconsistent.

As for Cork the game against Offaly was a disappointing display and they got some severe criticism in their own county for the performance. I do expect a major improvement from them today and if Galway are off form Cork can take this tie. However while my heart says Cork my head says Galway but hopefully I'm proved wrong!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,328 ✭✭✭dartbhoy

For all Cork followers that can't reach the game it will be broadcast live on C103 FM from 3 45pm on. C103 can be found on 103.7 in North Cork,103.3 in West Cork and 102.6 in the City.

Privately I feared Cork would get a hiding today and it happened! The reality is Cork hurling is in the doldrums and we could be looking at a famine here in the county for a few years yet.

Maybe the players are just not good enough, just look at the bench today we had deadwood on the bench such as fraggy, cussen. Gardiner was awful today he only got involved when there was some argy bargy going on, and as for his delivery into the forwards; awful. Midfield was overrun all day today, sad to say it bet we have seen the last of Ben & Jerry great servants to the red jersey over the years.

  • Registered Users Posts: 223 ✭✭Rebel Fan

I hate to ask but is anybody really surprised at this result? I thought Galway would win but I was expecting it to be tight, Cork hurling is in such a bad place right now. We have too many players with too many miles on the clock Cusack, Gardiner, Curran, the O Connor twins, Nialler to name but a few. The fact that these guys are still on the team doesn't say too much about what's coming through, if it was Kilkenny or Tipp they would be struggling for a place or been gone long ago. However, and I take no pleasure in saying this, Cork hurling is where it is mainly because of the last strike by the players. Most of the above named players were the ringleaders and they have brought hurling in the county to its knees. Don't get me wrong, they have been great servants to Cork over the years but they will always be remembered for the wrong reasons IMO, Cusack especially. Player power rules in Cork these days and this has destroyed the grassroots of hurling in the county. Most of these players have lost the respect of the public in Cork, it's time for them all to bite the bullet and walk away from intercounty hurling. The same can be said for Denis Walsh, a nice man and all that but definitely not up to the standard required, when he was appointed it raised a few eyebrows and he hasn't improved hurling at all. We're now at a stage where we'll probably be struggling to stay in Division 1 next year in The National League. So where does Cork hurling go from here? IMO it's time for all the old timers in the squad to walk away, it'll be sad to see some go but it has to be for the good of the county. The ringleaders of the last strike have to be let go, Walsh must also walk away. Time to start with a clean slate. Donal O Grady has to be coaxed back into management of the hurlers, a school principal of The Mon he'll take no crap and he'll get us on the right road again. He walked into Limerick and has taken them to within 1 game of the semi final, and who wouldn't bet against them being the dark horses this year? A long shot yes, but you can be assured he'll get the best out of them. It saddens and angers me as a Corkman to see him managing another county, would he ever come back and manage Cork? With the way the county board is set up and the player power in the squad, never in a million years IMO. So sad!
