Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Now that would be just silly, everyone knows that you can't wear dresses with runners.

Seriously Nules zero tabs is the best you can do...if Mr Slow can arrive with Rice Krispie cakes, you need to raise your game :D

Now I'm a "don't bake, won't bake" kinda gal so when it's my turn, expect High 5 gels (or shop bought goodies) :)

Ladies and gents this morning is a significant moment. As it's my last day in work for the year (love saying that). I've decided it's also my last morning I'll have a Starbucks Grande Coffee and dirty big scone.

I've decided to forego my run this evening as system still very dodgy so can have coffee, scone and chocolate today but then that's it...

It'll be chocolate and coffee cold turkey and all for the sake of running

Starbucks it's time bid adieu; you and I had a great run together (excusing the pun) but time to part...sob, sob. I'm off to drain my coffee cup now!

I've recently started drinking coffee again just to help with the fatigue but I hadn't had any in over a year and had twice the get up and go in the morning that I had when depending on it! ;)

    Wed Jan 4th

    Cycle

Went to the gym for this and did a tough interval session on the stationary bike. Legs like jelly afterwards.

    20km

    Run

Needed to get a short run in for Jantastic to bring my weekly totals up to 4 runs. So hopped on the treadmill after bike with the intention of doing the minimum one mile. Some skinny poser with the full make-up and matching gym outfit hopped on at the same time beside me so ended up doing 2 to make sure I outlasted her...

    2 Miles - 20 mins

    Strength and stretching stuff after

    Sat Jan 7th

    Hill Repeats

Off to the park with Nules this morning for a hills session. Some amount of people out running in the park this morn which was great to see.

Anyway after a 1+ mile warm-up, it was time to hit the hills. Session was as follows 3 x 300m and 5 x 200m with a recovery jog down in between. Good session although the 200's were probably too easy so need to up the number of 300's next week.
Cooldown run back up the Kyber to the car to wrap the session up and round up the mileage.

    Distance: 4.5 miles
    Time: 43:07
    Avg Pace: 09:34

    Sun Jan 8th

    Long Run

Met up with the gang in the park this morn. First few miles I felt great and was really enjoying it and then at about mile 5 going back up chesterfield, it was like a switch flicked and I was really struggling. Legs felt tired probably after yesterdays session and just couldn't get into a rhythm. Everyone seemed to be struggling at this point but we continued on to finish out the planned mileage. Of course we had to watch jcsmum doing her laps of the car park - fair play to you on that mileage :)
Toughest run I've had in a while I will admit but good to get used to running on tired legs.

    Plan: 8.5
    Actual: 8.53
    Time: 1:25:39
    Avg Pace: 10:02

I hate that part of the park. Have a look at the profile though and you might be surprised how uphill it is compared to how it looks.

    Any races planned yet?

Not sure on the cycling yet, will look out for a few of the smaller distance sportifs to dip my toe into the cycling events or maybe a duathlon.

As for running, Raheny prob the next one up but haven't done a race in ages so that'll be more about getting back into that frame of mind. Then a half in May which is tbd but probably Limerick as I heard the pacers are good :D

    Mon Jan 9th

    Swim

Yes I am about to log my first swim and nope I have no plans for a tri and you'll why in 2 seconds

New Years resolution is to get at least 1 swim in per week so thought it was about time I started this week. No word of a lie but it's been about 8 years since I've been in a pool for a swim session. Sunshine dips surrounded by drinks don't count!!

Holy crap but this was woeful and far from the graceful return to the pool I had hoped for. I suppose I have to start somewhere.

    Swim: 750m :o
    Time: 30 mins :o

...and this is why I am not doing a tri

I know it was a shock to the system alright. Especially since I had some old timers flying past me...not good for the ego. Although you'd think I'd be used to that from running :)

Cmon here don't let that time fool you. I was the colour of those purple icons when I finished and was able for nothing else. I will have to slow it right down to pick up some form again and work on my front crawl. I looked like an idiot thrashing around...also didnt help I kept my contacts in so I could see where I was going but couldn't put the head in the water of course

I found a beginners tri swimming plan online to am going to follow that to build up again. It's tough work!
You're doing great with you swimming though and definitely going about your plan in the right way. Sub 30 here you come :D
