Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. As long as she's just playing a new version of her and not carrying the character over.

    Otherwise it'll just be strange

Film happening but different actor cast for lead Source

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,711 ✭✭✭squonk

Stupid idea! They should tie a film in with the show. Not sure I'd be arsed going to see a film when I've already watched 3-4 seasons of the show. At that point too I'll have built up a liking for the current actor, much like I'd be pissed now seeing anyone other than Stephen Amell playing Arrow in a movie.

Most movies do this though. I would have liked to see Tom Welling play superman but Brandon Routh was cast. If there ever is a green arrow movie , I'd love to see Stephen Amell get it but it probably wouldn't happen

And I think thats where DC are making a mistake
The Marvel world is now on tv and film, they crossover well and add to the feel of the world they are creating,
By splintering the tv show etc I dont think will help its appeal when up against avengers 2, agents of shield, thor 3, agent carter.....continuity isnt as tangible/believable when DC or whatever station have the rights with different characters

having said all that I will want to see all DC have to offer

Surprise gambit by DC where they are in fact establishing a multi-verse :P

So it does all tie back into the Flash since that news article from the future was about the crisis. That's good planning. :)

Watched the second episode of this last night. It's a very good series. Definitely worth watching with Arrow.

Never read the comic books so I have no idea of the different characters.

I'm really surprised by how fantastic this show is. Two episodes in and it's already greatly surpassed the show from which it spun off. The biggest difference between The Flash and Arrow is that I really like Barry, whereas Olly is a prick. When this was cast, I thought "Grant Gustin? This is gonna suck." Turns out I was entirely wrong. He's great in the role, the supporting cast are hugely likeable, there's a lot of heart and a lot of action and, most importantly, there's a lot of fun to the show. Imo, this beats the crap out of Arrow, Agents of SHIELD and especially the heartbreakingly disappointing Gotham.

Another Good episode with plenty of easter eggs. Also
It looks like we learn something new about Harrison Wells at the end of every episode

So I'm guessing what's her face scientist dead boyfriend Ronnie is going to show up again as Firestorm.

Also assuming that the series is pre 52 and that's the flash story line it's following.

Another great episode! I think what they need to do now is start developing a series villain/threat. I know they've already set up
    Wells
as someone who isn't entirely trustworthy but I think they can play a 2 season arc with that.

    Nice.

So recasting her from Olivia Cheng who played her in the pilot/Arrow

Just watched the first episode there on Sky - as someone who vaguely remembers the original 80s version, I have to say I was very impressed with this. I haven't watched Arrow though so not sure if I'm missing anything(?)

Anyway, this one has a very likable cast, moves along nicely and a nice hook at the end (even though I can't see yer man as anyone else than JD's brother from Scrubs :p)
Compared to Gotham (which I've given up on) this is FAR superior after only 1 episode!

    Will watch ep 2 & 3 tomorrow. :)

New episode was great and Wentworth Miller is perfect as Captain Cold. Its on a break next week but the preview for the next few episodes looks great. Also
That end scene with Captain Cold and Heatwave

    Exactly how I feel :pac:

Yep, she looked well in the episode. No complaints about that dress.
And if watching Arrow you'll enjoy when she goes undercover as usually involves wearing similar dresses. :)

Anyway, great episode. Wentworth Miller was pretty good as Cold.

And enjoyed the humour as well, like Barry trying to run backwards and crashing and his team just reacting as if it's perfectly normal now.

Watched the pilot this afternoon and really enjoyed it, it's the perfect superhero show and the fact that it celebrates the characters and its bright world is a welcome change if pace. It feels very much like the comic of the 60s and 80s and the decision not to go all gritty really sets it apart. Barry is incredibly likeable but it's Joe who is the heart of the show, his relationship with Barry is where the show can really stand out and it's something I'm looking forward to seeing explored.

I think that the biggest issue with the pilot is that the villain of the week was so underused, he had a few lines of dialogue and his powers seemed less like an ability to control the weather and more like a cheap human smoke machine. For the show to really standout it needs to develope the villains, the Flash always had the more colourful and fun baddies and hopefully we get to see a few who get a bit of character development. I also hope that we see some other heroes pop up as its be a little boring if all those hit by the lightning are evil bar Barry.

The final scene was interesting and sets up the show but I'm hoping that this isn't going to be a ten year story. Hopefully they'll get to 2014 before we do as it would be interesting to see a superhero show set in the future, even if it only is a few years from now.

Has anyone tried to explain the meaning of a secret identity to Barry? Just met Plastique and reveals his identity. And has no problem removing his mask at any time. Even when surrounded by army members

Wonder who Wells really is, Vandal Savage comes to mind given his obsession with time, poor choice of words but I did enjoy his monkey business at the end there.

Haven't been able to get into Arrow but made a conscious effort to get into The Flash. I have to say that I'm enjoying it a lot, my only problem is Iris. I just find the actress to be weak.

I could be clutching at straws but when Wells used the phrase "reversal of fortune " with Ealing it felt like a reverse flash nod to me.

He's not Reverse Flash but that was probably a nod alright, good spot!

Another great episode. This show is knocking it out of the park every week!
