Multiple cliffhangers, no explanations about the dome (yet).

Thanks, sounds like the usual tripe that passes for sci-fi TV series' these days. Not gonna bother. Seems to be all about making money at the expense of just telling a good story from start to finish.

Haven't read anything else in this thread for fear of spoilers but was wondering if the 2nd season is worth watching?

Honestly, no it is isn't. Just more and more aimless nonsense. There is so little attempt at explaining anything, and the way characters just accept the most absurd solutions at face value that it almost feels like religious programming.
Rachelle LeFevre is about the only reason I kept watching. (The dome wants me to put my hands on your ass Julia, can we try that and see what happens?) ;)

I was sitting hoping they had actually filmed the ending without announcing it was the finale, but no such luck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,713 ✭✭✭squonk

Yeah I was disappointed. More of the same. No pointer to anything new. I could hear the writing meeting... "Well yea, I suppose we should get them out of the dome.". "OK, what happens then?". "Who cares, we'll worry about that next season. Hey! Wouldn't it be cool to have Melanie show up when they leave the dome?". "Yeah, sure, let's do that!".

On the plus side, Dean Norris started acting again towards the end. With this tripe it's almost hard to believe he was so good in Breaking Bad. His final scene was at least some indication of that and allowed him to finally use some of his acting ability.

When I saw Rebecca still holding needle while Jim's wife was dying, I knew she was dead. Why would she keep it in her hand and not hide it knowing Jim would put 2 and 2 together and guess that she gave her an overdose. And at the end with Melanie, I was so hoping an alien would pop up behind her or something .

Probably good for a 3rd season based on the fact that it makes $2.5 million per episode before it even airs.

Thanks god that's over for another season. The only good thing about it is Julia's hair.

I've never been so happy to see/wanted so much for characters to be killed off. Raging that Big Jim didn't get to go through with his plan to kill everyone in the town.

The only good thing about it is Julia's hair.

And her footwear. She's always sporting a fashionable pair of boots.

So whats the third series going to be about? the leave one place thinking they have got out from under the dome and then they realise they are still under a dome but its the dome in Tralee :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,891 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

, Dome was the summer’s No. 1 scripted series, averaging 11 million viewers and a 2.7 rating.

With the money made from ads and product placement even if it drops viewers by 50% this show will go and go.

..and it was such a good book :(

the show is dumb and frustrating - but is still kind of harmless, kind of like Jericho but with a bigger budget
not "looking forward" to season 3 - but ill defo watch it

Yeah I really enjoyed the book too but the TV series I think I watched a couple of the first series and that was enough of it for me.

Season 3 will return on June 25 with a two-hour premiere, then it will return to its normal time on July 2

Under The Dome Season 3 shall be outdoming
In the upcoming third season of Under The Dome, the escaped civilians of the shattered and destroyed Dome and decimated city of Chesters Mill have escaped to Zenith, Barney's hometown. Barney's managed to escape the Dome with Julia alive. Jr. and others are in the city of Zenith led by Melanie whose been resurrected. Big Jim, mourning the actual death of his wife, Pauline, seeks aggravating revenge since the end of season 2. He also has somehow escaped the Dome. Even now, he is remaining off the deep end.

The 3rd season is set a year after the events of seasons 1-2, in which the ex residents of Chesters Mill seek refuge in Zenith, while the government has found out that The Egg, the source of The Dome, has crumbled, as a result of its self destruction and the resulting desolation of Chesters Mill.

The Dome was yet only the beginning because Big Jim has formed an alliance with a secretive government agency led by Barney's father. What will become of the former Chester's Mill civilians and their leading heroes, Barney, Sam, Jr, Nori, Julia, and Melanie? What now after the events inside The Dome? Will Angie and Dot (Dodie) somehow return from the dead, not like other dead civilians in Chester's Mill?

Under The Dome Season 3 Set-Up Confirmed As Series Gambles On Renewal
Season 2 will end on a major cliffhanger ; Season 3 is to create the idea of a new world & a broadening of the scope of the show, Season 2 finale is designed to hint at where the show is going to go & what the new mythology is gonna be like

So sounds like no dome at all now? Would've liked to read the first line as "third and final season"

Why is everyone always so well groomed in these American shows? Do the producers not get how fake it makes things look? Happens in everything, even multi-million an ep stuff like Game of Thrones.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,048 ✭✭✭✭cena

I can't wait for this to come back

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,298 ✭✭✭DareGod

I enjoyed the first few eps of season 1. I continued to watch all eps of seasons 1 and 2, but it got absolutely ridiculous. The storylines were atrocious and terrible. I couldn't stop watching though. Did anyone else feel the same?

I'll probably give the first ep of season 3 a chance and go from there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 155 ✭✭aine1980

I was the same - almost felt as though I had to finish the 2nd season to 'finish' it out. Don't think I'll bother with Season 3 as I can't see it getting any better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,891 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

I really don't know why I did it to myself but I watched the season 3 double episode.
    Painful to watch.

Likewise. May just leave the rest and if it's announced later as the final season, I'll watch. Though there's nothing else on that night.

So they're all gonna have the year's worth of memories now? Norrie and Joe having fallen out. Norrie getting with Hunter. Joe somehow still have grown even though it hasn't really been a year. Loads of people with broken bones due to falling out of the cocoons that were high up.

Weren't the military dudes meant to follow Barbie's dad in? Or are we to think they came in between the time he died and Jim found him?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,962 ✭✭✭✭dark crystal

That was worse than taking an algebra exam. I haven't the foggiest what's going on any more.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,298 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Well if x+y=z and 2x+3y=17 what is the value of z?

Disclaimer: I just made that up so doubt it has an answer in case someone tries to work it out

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,462 Mod ✭✭✭✭Axwell

And that folks is how to completely get rid of any viewers you may have had clinging on watching your show up to this point. WTF was this mess of an episode..it was so disjointed and just awful. So bad that Barbie had to even tell us in the first scene what was going to happen...we dont know what this is when we walk through here..maybe..an alternate timeline..who the **** thinks that?? Uggghhh..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,966 ✭✭✭Liamalone

Jeez, where to start. I've binge watched this from the start over the past week or so and by gum it is a bit of a mess to say the least. So many inconsistencies, plotholes and downright stupid writing that it was actually hard to stop watching to see where it went next lol.

    - The propane stockpile and possible connection to the rapture drug went absolutely nowhere.
    - The involvement of yer woman ?Max? and her threats about wee Jim and Bambi's past was a waste of time.
    - The introduction of the science teacher at the start of series two, she came to the fore with great velocity.
    - Three folk, in the space of a few days, appeared out of thin air into a children's playground apparently unnoticed - add to that in the way back Lyle didn't resurface in the water until days after the other four, in the middle of a new ice age into the bargain.

Oh dear, that's not even the tip of the dome tbh, at least the sheriff merry-go-round was funny.

Just finished the double bill premier and think I need a few reeks of ze peace pipe to get my head around that shizzle. Far out man!

I thought the outside of the dome was nuked during one episode!

Good god almighty this went from bad to worse as if it were possible. CSI lady on now fewer than 3 occasions used her sex appeal in episode 4 :D

There is stretching it and there is stretching it, and we're out.

Tried watching the first episode of season 3, turned it off after 30 minutes and I wont be watching another minute. Dean Norris should be ashamed of himself!!

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 2,896 ✭✭✭sabat

I somehow managed to stick with this for 2 seasons-never in all my years of watching tv have I endured so much of something so bad-but after about 2 minutes of the 1st episode I just switched off and deleted it. What finally did it was that gormless kid uttering yet another piece of pointless, blindingly obvious expository dialogue. "The dome's come down." This said as the entire cast are looking at the dome coming down.
