Chuffed about this to be honest.. these are always great - particularly Joe Wilkinson's appearances.

The 3 - 4 specials they've done so far have always been entertaining.

Oh, and here's all the specials on 4OD for those who may have missed them.
Channel 4 has commissioned a full series of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

Jimmy Carr will host the mash-up comedy quiz, while regular team captains Sean Lock and Jon Richardson will take on the words and numbers game.

Sarah Millican, Jason Manford, Jack Dee and Rhod Gilbert will be among the celebrity guests for the summer programme.

Countdown's dictionary corner specialist Susie Dent will appear with a different guest each episode.

Mathematician Rachel Riley will also take part in her usual Countdown role, along with her assistant Joe Wilkinson.

The 8 Out of 10 Cats 'mash-up' specials previously aired on Channel 4 in January 2012.

Entertainment Commissioning Editor Madeleine Knight said: "Originally commissioned as part of the Channel 4 Mash Up night, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown has proved it deserves a run of its own.

"This combination of two of Channel 4's favourite shows brings together the best of both. It's a treat."

Zeppotron Managing Director Ruth Phillips added: "It's such a treat for us to be making more of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, not least because Countdown is such a robust format to have fun with.

"The combination of both shows means viewers get to play along so it really is something for both quiz and comedy fans alike."

The show will be broadcast later this summer on Channel 4, and will be produced by Zeppotron & ITV Studios.

yeah I actually don't get why they have Joe mucking around trying to think of something inane to say

Thought there was only 1 that's cool. Must be one of the weirdest titles for a show ever (especially if you've never heard of 8 out of 10 cats) :D

Great news (except for Sarah Millican)
Lee Mack getting the 9 letter word in the last episode was priceless.
    Really enjoy Joe Wilkinson too.

I don't get him at all. I have never found him funny in anything and he ruins the pace of the show.

Usually a very entertaining show, I hope they don't ruin it by having too many episodes.

I preferred him in dictionary corner, his suzy dent memorabilia was hilarious.

Im just glad they didnt do anymore deal or no deal crossovers, the first one was terrible.

Turns out it's on sooner than expected.. starts the week of July 20th.

With Danny Dyer as first guest in Dictionary Corner.
Danny Dyer will appear in the first episode of the upcoming new series of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

The British actor will sit alongside Susie Dent in Countdown's dictionary corner for the comedy quiz.

The series will launch on Channel 4 on the week of July 20, with Rhod Gilbert and Jason Manford also appearing in the first episode.

Joe Wilkinson doing the numbers was funny the first time around but was boring after that. I'd prefer to see him as a contestant rather than Rachel Rileys assistant.

Is Sean Locke not appearing? Or is it an entirely new cast?

Nope, both himself and Jon Richardson appearing..
Jimmy Carr will host the mash-up comedy quiz, while regular team captains Sean Lock and Jon Richardson will take on the words and numbers game.

Starts tonight at 9 on Channel 4

8 Out of 10 Cats team captains Sean Lock and Jon Richardson are joined by Jason Manford and Rhod Gilbert. Countdown regular Susie Dent is in Dictionary Corner with actor Danny Dyer, while Rachel Riley provides the letters and numbers with a little help from comedian Joe Wilkinson

Only caught the second 30 minutes but thought it was great. Everyone was very funny.

    Needs more Rachel Riley.

Danny Dyer is a cliche of himself at this stage.

Thought it was excellent tonight. Great mix of people. The bit with the cats was hilarious.

One of the best ideas Channel 4 has come up with.
I absolutely LOVE the concept and the part with Joe Wilkinson is hilarious.
    MORE!!!!

So glad its going to be on weekly... My face hurts from laughing...
Also, I wish Rachel Reilly was in everything... Like every single thing in the world...

    I don't get Joe either.
I enjoy the show, except for Jimmy's asides, though the kittens were incidentally funny.

Who is Jon Richardson going out with?!

At least they did not overdose us on Joe, which they tend to do sometimes.

Funny show, Rhod is hilarious. The cats were really funny as well

That was good fun, I thought Danny Dyer was class and the kittens were brilliant. Even Joe Wilkinson was alright, he works better is small doses.

I didn't do great on the show but I did get the conundrum. Like Jon Richardson, I try to take it seriously even if everyone else is mucking about :)

Joe Wilkinson can be funny..when he isn't trying hard like in Two Episodes of MASH.

The contestants were as good if not better at the Maths rounds than the normal Countdown contestants who are appalling at it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭KKkitty

Love this version of it. The ordinary Countdown is too straitlaced. I also haven't warmed to Nick Hewer as its host. Joe is funny at times but he does get a little surplus to requirements sometimes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,036 ✭✭✭✭Basq

    Really enjoyed that..

.. Joe turning the 'I' into a hyphen was hilarious!

Nicks song to Suzy was bloody brilliant, great episode.
Joe was on top form aswell.

Really love the show but don't get Joe at all!!!! Find his efforts really forced & childlike!

Rachel really gets the innuendos from the guys too - Suzi is very reserved but relaxing as the weeks go by & not cringing as much lately.

Thought Nick's song when on way too long tbh.

After last night I just can't believe anyone can say that, there were 5 massive lols in the few minutes he was onscreen!

"Infinity" in the numbers game and Jimmy being in tears after Sean promised not to spit on Miles during sex were the highlights for me.

Not quite as funny as last week but found Miles hit and miss, so that could be why.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,811 ✭✭✭lertsnim

Infinity was fantastic even though joe usually annoys me when he is the assistant

Thought it was great. Laughed so hard at Jimmy's reaction to Sean telling Miles he wouldn't spit on him during sex.

Also Rhod making up the word at in the final letters game was great and then realizing he was so close to Uniform...

Inifinity was about the 6th funniest thing Joe did, the yogurt, the explosion, the no rabbit, the card trick, the biscuit-flavoured condoms :pac:

I think Rhod could do with being dropped to be honest, don't think he brings anything to it!

Yeah i preferred Lee Mack to rhod, and that guy from Ballamory better be a once off.

the guy in dictionary corner wasn't funny

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 15,694 Mod ✭✭✭✭dfx-

I think Wilkinson came across better or less crazy because of the guy going a bit far with the song.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

Really didnt like the poems . I generally dont like that or songs in stuff like this tbh. I got real bored real quick when that started. Very much enjoying the rest though.

Rachel Riley, nom nom nom nom.

For any of ye who need another fix of Rachel Riley she presents The Gadget Show with Jason Bradbury on channel 5 on Monday nights I think. Susie Dent is becoming more relaxed as the weeks go by.

Repeat on right now as it happens, last episode of the current series (that Jon fella seems a bit creepy).

On topic, I liked the last episode, but Dyer wouldn't be my cup of tea.

Next weeks episode has Rich Hall, Sarah Millican and Humphrey Ker.
Doesnt sound like a good lineup at all.
