Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

And there but for the grace....etc.

Scary photo but thankfully looks like no-one else got tangled up in it.
Any other details on where/when this happened?

Looks like one of those RIB trailers modified to carry a couple of dinghies on top. I've always considered them a deadly set-up in a cross-wind as the RIB on the trailer already has a fairly high CofG and then the dinghy rack is placed very high to clear the RIB engine and Console. The result is the wind catchment of the dinghy has huge leverage..... Of course once the trailer tips even slightly the underside of the dinghy(ies) becomes exposed and the effective sail area dramatically increases and acts like a sizeable parachute to snap the combination off its wheels.

years ago my dad was towing my boat back from cork to dublin on a sunday afternoon when the boat & trailer suddenly overtook the car before plowing into a hedge n ditch. Was the days before the motorways and we were very lucky that there was no one coming the opposite direction

Just in the last few days in the Netherlands, they've had an equally crappy summer.

    Very interesting Neris, thanks.
She is built of cold moulded wood. Designed by Jean Berrard, built by the Hervé yard (La Rochelle?) in 1978.
Sold in ’79 and again in ’81.Then sold to Belgium and underwent a refit in 1983. Sold again in 1985. Did the Fastnet in 1989; spent 1992 on the hard.
In 1995 she was fitted with a new rudder designed by Jean Berret. At the same time the cockpit was enlarged and opened at the transom. In 1998 she was fitted with a new keel designed by Berret-Racoupea.
In 2007 she raced in the Half-ton Classic in Dun Laoghaire.
In 2011 at the end of April she fell over while being transported. She was sent to the workshop of Jan Vandamme in Zeebrugge and the three months of extensive “reconstruction” was of exceptional quality. By mid-August the boat was on her way to Cowes
    Great bit of history. :)

I don't remember Checkmate in the Bay or Howth...

It was bought by the previous owner of King One - think it was UK based previously.

Won the overall prize in the 2013 DL Regatta.

Never raced one, but delivered a Swan 65 for SOS in Poole a long long time ago! Always said (after the Lotto was started) if ever I won, I would buy one! Beautiful boat, superb finish. But if I won only a small prize I'd go for a Vancouver (Sorry Ferg, move it to ChitChat if you wish)
