Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Thanks!

Getting a 403 error when trying to create an account on the Miui forums, wonder is this what is preventing me from creating an account on the app.

    Very frustrating!

Having an issue that I don't think anyone else has had so far.. which has me worried now...

Got it today as expected and was all 'yeh!' Anyway, left it to charge just to make sure it was full battery and downloaded the app. When it was all charged, went to sync it with the mi band and... nothing. It searched, but finds nothing. Asks me to make sure the battery is charged (which it is).

Bluetooth is on and it can see the device in the local devices. But I can't even pair it there claiming it doesn't have a correct pin or password.

Has a scurry around their site and found one post up with no answer with the same issue. Have also looked up this thread to see if there was anything. Tried to 'modified' install as well to see if that would do the trick but nothing.

Bit stumped here... if anyone has any suggestions.

If it helps, phone is the Landvo L200 most of us bagged on here before Christmas...

Haven't the foggiest. Even just looked at the gearbest listing for the phone to see what it says for Bluetooth and just says that - Bluetooth
    Nothing more expressive

Thinking my problem lies with the Landvo. Managed to get it connected fine to the other half's S4 mini first time. So maybe the Bluetooth in the L200 isn't good enough for it? Be interested to see if any other people can pair the band to an L200.

My issue wasnt the connecting, just the logging in and registering part was pretty seemless after that

Still not sure if I will use this at all long term, but its a nice little gadget to have

Cannot get the notifications to work

Get a "Notifications Access is not Activated".

Anyone else had this/how to resolve?

Edit : resolved had to make a change in security settings

Getting the gesture status check to work.

Found this description on a blog which actually works if you want to get the status of the daily goal to work consistently, using the led lights on the band.

" Start in a standing position with your arms and hands handing down by your side. It’s difficult to get it to work while sitting. Then, what you’re going to do is to bring your hands up into a position in-front of you as if you were going to read time off a wrist watch. Swing your hand slightly forward and upward. No need to be fast, but don’t go too slow. Make sure the Mi Band stops slightly elevated at an angle facing you, not parallel to the ground. Then, hold it steady in that position for a few moments, about one to two second, and wait for the LEDs to light up."

The key bit seems to be having the angle of your wrist pointed upwards a bit at the end (i.e. the miband silver bit an an angle pointed upwards on your wrist) and waiting a second. you don't need to move your arm up jerkily or really fast.

I have received my band today and there was a yellow sticker attached on the envelope. It says "Goods not fulfilling the conditions prescribed by Articles 9 and 10 of the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community" Any ideas what it means?
I ordered the band on the 20th from Gearbest and paid $1 for NL post if that has anything to do with it.

Btw, thanks to OP for posting this deal and all the other helpful people in this thread.

your item was fulfilled by NL post but did not originate in EU so duties can still be valid to be added on so this sticker informs destination country of this. However as value not exceeding max allowable value for no duties, no action taken.

No matter what I try I cannot get this to work!

However, every so often the lights go off but when I try the gesture it won't work.

Not a big deal anyway but annoying nonetheless.

Shows you your progress in your daily goal I think.

    Example, 1 light, you're 33% completed your goal, 2 lights 66% etc.

couldn't really be arsed doing a video tbh :)

it's not exactly mega useful in any case.

I'll try with another text description.

standing up, with your arms by your side, arms straight with fingers pointing to the ground, knuckles forward (i.e. can see your knuckles, not palm).
bring arm up and fwd, i.e. bring your arm up keeping it straight. so you your wrist is not bent.
once arm is just below your chest, bend your elbow bringing band twds you as if to going to read a watch.
band is now say 7/8 inches away from your chest at that height.
angle of band is 70 degrees. i.e. your wrist is an angle as if reading a watch.
hold it there for one second.
    should flash

It should work as the moto g has bluetooth 4.0.
Maybe somebody with a moto g can confirm?

Works ok with first gen moto g with KitKat 4.4.4.
Drops connection every once and a while. Have it set up as a trusted device due to work admin insisting on pin code lock. It works most of the time but not consistently.
Other than that its a great device and works a treat.

Contact GearBest and they'll refund it for you straight away.

    They're very helpful usually.

They'll probably organise a free replacement as well.

Just contact them and see what happens.

Why? How long does it normally take to arrive? I presumed a month would be normal with regular post?

Mine was posted on January 13th and still hasnt arrived but I`m not worried about it being lost.

So, have this close to a week now and have to say, for the money spent on it she is a handy little gadget.

I've gotten the whole 'check it like a watch' thing more or less down pat. Took a little practice but I'd say nine times out of ten, I get it to light up. Seems to track well. I guess some more long-term testing will give me a better gauge of how well it picks when I go for a run etc and how it distinguishes between the pair.

Have to say, find it shocking to think I actually do walk (according to the Mi Band) about 5-6 km a day. Working in childcare so would be up and mobile quite a bit but seeing it track that much had me thinking how accurate it was! But on the bright side for my health, at least I seem to be getting to that 8,000 steps in a day lark!

As for hooking it up the phone, I originally posted up issues getting it paired to my Landvo L200. I've come to the conclusion that the phone must not have the Bluethooth LE that is required. Paired fine to the missus' phone for a start. Also, with the modified app, there is an option under Additional Services (I think it was) about a Bluetooth LE broadcast. On her phone, the option works. On the L200, it is greyed out with Chinese writing in orange background on the bottom.

So I gave up trying to get it sorted on that phone after that. It's only a slight pain to have it paired to her phone. I suppose since you only really need to check in on your status a couple times a day, it's not a game changer. Ideally, would be nice to see them develop a program that could read it up off of the desktop computer so I could track it a bit better.

As a simple step tracker and sleep monitor.. it does the trick. For the price, it's great. You could probably easily spend up to, if not more than a hundred quid on something that has the same functions. It doesn't look obtrusive or gaudy and feels pretty comfortable to wear. As someone who is more casual about tracking these things, it's a handy gadget that least gives me an insight on it before I would decide to go for something a bit fancier (ie more expensive :P)

Thanks again to the OP for the spot on this!

My second MiBand arrived today (for the missus!). Ordered on Dec 29, shipped Dec 31.
Patience is a virtue. My 1st one (for moi) arrive Jan 26 or so (despite being ordered & shipped on same dates).

One issue is my wife's phone is only Android 4.2.2 :(
Google Play store's MiBand app says it needs Android 4.4.
Anybody got a solution for 4.2.2?

I have my own MiBand sync'd to my phone (4.4)
Can you sync 2 MiBands to one phone w/o corrupting each data set?

I always say 2 to 3 weeks for stuff from China but given the fact that Customs are taking some of them then a bit more.

I believe you have 30 days to wait and then you can get a refund but in my experience they've honoured it before this date.

    Great post!

You are very welcome, the idea of Bargain Alerts is we can come on and share what we believe to be bargains and I'm delighted to see a lot of people have liked this one.

Just in relation to what you said about connecting it daily to your wives phone. The MiBand has a memory of 7 days so you can actually leave it longer between syncs if you like!

One thing I definitely love so far is the battery, love not having to charge it constantly.

I'm pretty sure that device over-reads a bit (will vary by person - I'd say 10% for me) by counting movements that are not steps. still great for the price.

So guys do you need Bluetooth left constantly on on your phone with this, or just turn it on when you sync?

Would prefer to leave Bluetooth off if possible. Every lit bit to preserve battery.

Bluetooth (especially 4.0) uses a negligible amount of battery, even if left on constantly. I have not noticed any change in my Nexus 5's battery life with it always paired to my G Watch.

I would imagine it is the pairing that takes up the most battery life, so if you had it consistently pairing and unpairing that would be even worse.

I believe you can sync several days data at once so no need for constant Bluetooth connection.
I've mine constantly paired with my one plus and have noticed no adverse effects on battery.
