No, I haven't been, as I said she was a bit dismissive. I will say it again at my next appointment. I wonder should I still be visiting my gp? I'm attending the pre term surveillance clinic and tbh there isn't much talking to them about anything, they barely look at chart.
I've been trying to cut out sugary things just to be safer but it's not going so well! Bread and pasta would be a huge part of my diet.
Is the diet the same as a diabetic diet?

I don't attend a gp as I'm in the hospital every 3 weeks so there is no point!
Yes the exact same as a diabetic diet, You do get used to it very quick though.
You can still have bread and pasta you just need to watch portion sizes!
I found it much easier last time as my appetite went when I was pregnant but this time all I can think of is food ha

Thanks lainey cool. I attend every two weeks, so I guess no point either. Maybe I
should try be more assertive! Will try follow a diabetic diet and see how if goes!

I have turned into a human dustbin. I feel like I'm eating every 10mins!

I've got it this time round, although its a bit strange. My test results were lower this time than the last pregnancy and last time I was told to go home and stop eating the dairy that the GP had told me to start eating, so I could maybe avoid the problems I had with my 3rd boy when I switched from breastfeeding to bottles. My results this time were a good bit lower but they're not letting me away with it.
I got my test kit and I'm watching what I eat, my portion sizes were never big anyway, (dinner on a side plate) It's not only the sweet stuff you have to watch, it's all carbohydrates, they are sugar as far as the body is concerned it's only the rate at which they turn to sugar ... rices pastas bread are slower than cakes biscuits and sweets. But, so is fruit .. especially fruit juices and smoothies.
The thing I found really annoying is I was told yesterday to eat 3 large meals and 2 small snacks... I never eat large meals, first off I physically can't fit it in, I always ate 4 - 5 small meals in a day.. all of the advice I've been given during other pregnancies to avoid heartburn, nausea, and so on is to avoid big meals..

You're tested between 24 and 26 weeks only if you fall into the risk category. there are about 10 criteria you'll have been asked on you booking appointment and if you tick any of them you'll automatically be put forward for the Glucose test. The 2 i fall into are I'm over 40 and my Dad had type 2 diabetes.
The main worry with it is obviously the higher birthweight of the baby but it affects your blood pressure, which increases the risk of pre-eclampsia, you also have an increased risk of developing type 2 later in life, it raises it a huge 50 to 70 % chance of developing it. This is the part that is really upsetting me. I watched my dad struggle with it for 15 years before he died.
There is so little information given at the clinics and some of it by different people is contradictory.

I could be looking to you ladies for advice as I have me GTT on the 27th this month. I'll be 28 weeks at the time of the test. Not looking forward to having to fast for it but alas it must be done! :(

I fall into the risk group due to my weight. I was overweight in my last pregnancy too but wasnt tested but had no complications in relation to gestational diabetes so they reckon its just routine really that I'm tested.

Im not getting worked up or worried about the possible outcome until I know the results. My diet is fairly healthy as is, so if I have it then I'll deal with it as best I can.

On another note I am crippled with heartburn the past week! I have a short torso so baby tends to reach the upper part of my body early enough in pregnancy! If only we grew wider instead of upwards since I have great "child baring hips" according to all my older relatives! :p

also constant leaking boobs..... the joys!

I have my GTT test next week. Was tested last time, but didn't have GD. My baby was quite large, so they've scheduled another test as standard but I'm not expected to have it. I'm not looking forward to the test...drinking fizzy lucoxade on an empty stomach is not how I like to spend heavily pregnant hot mornings!

Does anyone else feel full term right about now? I don't know why, but suddenly I just feel huge and waddly! Only a couple a weeks ago I felt great, bought loads of maternity clothes and was celebrating my body. Now I just feel propelled way ahead of where I should be. Maybe it's the weeks of struggling with the heat, swelling up and the onset of heartburn for minor diet faux pas! Not to forget this growing baby ;)

Anyone else leaving the gender as a surprise regretting doing so? I think I would LOVE to know!! I guess that's all in the surprise though huh ladies ;)

Flipply, I feel like a whale..I keep thinking it's impossible to get any bigger but I keep growing! I can't put on shoes anymore, apart from the fact I've gone up one shoe size if I bend over I feel like I'm going to faint! I've been living in sandals.A lot of the maternity clothes I bought are even starting to feel tight around my tummy:( we are nearly there though! Meeting the little ones is what keeping me going!

We didn't find out gender and I kind of wish we did, but it's saving us a lot of money in buying girly or boy stuff like clothes etc. we are debating if we should ask at our next scan but tbh we are going to find out soon enough anyway!

Hi all. I am not in the "risk category" for gd so no test for me thank god. Having bloods done was panic enough for me as hate needles. I had my 2nd scan ladt tuesday in portiuncla. Was so disappointed. Scan was so quick and rushed and images were blurry. Asked to find out gender and said it was too early to tell... im 26 weeks :0. Booked for a 3d gender scan this Wednesday as I was so disappointed we didnt really get to see baby.

I had a 'baby doctor' appointment on thursday, unexpected cos I thought I was only going to the diabetes clinic.. have to say I was damn glad that this is my 5th and I know something. she measured my tummy at 28 weeks (I'm 26 weeks), but, she had the tape half way down my pubic bone which was too low and then asked me about my dates and how accurate I thought they were. I told her my dating scan was spot on with my dates she said 'Oh okay, they're usually more accurate!' Then went looking for the heartbeat, she was maybe 2 or 3 mins, then said nothing except 'I'll be back in a minute, I'm just going to get my registrar' .. cue panic from my partner and I just said to him, 'there's no panic, it was my heartbeat she was picking up.. the registrar came in and within seconds had baby's heartbeat picked up and I just said to her 'That was my pulse you were picking up ...' she smiled but looked a bit embarrassed, thing is If I was nervous or a first-timer she would have put the heart crossways in me.
Anyway.. she'll know for next time.. baby was lying transverse so the kicks make sense now.. Back again in 2 weeks for more bloods and a scan..

Jesus Cbryd, that sounds really stressful! You are lucky you know your stuff. Its people like that woman that have people like me up the walls with worry. We are always taught that Doctors are to be trusted but since getting pregnant myself, I know its best to question things if they don't seem right.

Put a deposit on the Chicco Next2me cot on Monday.. :D Its €199 in Mothercare, I got it for €185 in a toy store in Castlebar! Delighted :)

I really feel like a giant whale now....I'm even more humongous than I was when I started complaining! I blame lack of activity! Anything I do makes my legs ache, and I've stopped sleeping! I tend to wake at 3am and that's it!!! 3 more months...oh god.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,147 ✭✭✭orchidsrpretty

Are they the co- sleeping cot Cbyrd? We got a normal cot and took one of the sides off it and fixed it to the bed. It seems to work well but obviously won't know for sure until babies are here! Would of loved a fancy co- sleeper but they were just out of our price range. I love to have the babies in the bed with us, but my boyfriend is very heavy and sleeps like a log so would be terrified he'd roll on top of them. It's happened to me far too often and it's nearly impossible to move him!

Flippyfloppy I am wide awake by 5 every morning and that's it for the day :( I've pretty much got used to though. Max 10 weeks left for me. I can't wait!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,214 ✭✭✭cbyrd

It is the co sleeper yes, bigger than a moses basket and neater than a cot so I won't have to re-arrange the bedroom furniture, plus moving her out to her own room she'll be sharing with either her 2 big brothers or her 12 year old sister.. It gives me extra time to decide :D
I have my 2nd appointment with the diabetic clinic tomorrow and a scan.. Can't wait to see her again!!

That's a great price for a co sleeper. We have a crib already but I spent a lot of all night feeding sessions researching co sleeper cots on my first in the thoughts it might help with my severe sleep problems! In the end I couldn't justify it as I couldn't find anything under 300 euro but I'm getting tempted again remembering how many times I cried after she woke up as soon as I'd try to transfer her to the crib! Someone described it to me recently as being a bomb disposal expert which I thought fitted perfectly lol

Ten weeks!! That will fly in orchardspretty!!!

I got an Armsreach cosleeper last time! So will use it this time from beginning and see how it goes.

Thinking of all the different things we tried to get some sleep last time, Moses basket, rocking travel cot, cot with side off and co sleeper! The only thing that really worked even in the hospital was her being in bed with me! Little monkey!!

Congrats on all the scans ladies. We were at our growth scan yesterday. So tempted to find sex out but resisted as we are nearly there!
Baby 2 seems to have caught up with their monster tummy and is coming in at over 95 percentile for all measurements; and is weighing in at 3lb3oz and baby 1 is 2lb14oz. Have a feeling they are going to be big babies!

Congrats orchid! You must be getting tired now at this stage? A friend who had twins when I had my first said she was so exhausted she had none of the usual pregnancy sleep problems as she conked out!
I can't find out the sex as I think I'd go mad buying more baby clothes if I did and I really don't need any! Was buying a pressie for a friends baby last wk & couldn't get over all the gorgeous stuff in m&s, mother care and boots. In the end I had to buy myself, ahem I mean baby, a supercute neutral snowsuit and some babygros in boots... After all second babies deserve 'some' new things too right??!

ended up in hospital this morning due to reduced fetal movement over 24hr period. Turned out everything was fine, baby was just hiding behind my placenta so couldn't feel an awful lot of his movements.

As a result I got quite a detailed scan today and baby is perfectly healthy! Got a bit of a shock though as he's currently weighing in at approx 3lb 9 oz at 29+2 weeks!!

Placenta is still low and he is currently breech so I have to go back at 34 weeks for another scan to check placenta and weight etc....

    this could be a whopper!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,147 ✭✭✭orchidsrpretty

How stressful natty. Glad things are ok. I very rarely feel baby 1 move due to their position. Can be worrying.

Great you were able to get a good scan, must be reassuring! Was your first a big baby?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 156 ✭✭natty_asha

yeah it can be scary at times. he has always stayed to the right since he has more room i assume, but yesterday I felt him roll and thats when he must have gone behind my placenta on the left. he'd have less room to move and I wouldnt feel it as much either because its like a cushion between me and baby.

First baby was 8lb 5 and she was a week early. they were that concerned at first about his size they automatically asked if I had been screened for diabetes but my bloods for that came back normal today. I just make big babies I guess!

I felt mine turn around from time to time, feels very strange!
I am the same with the weights but don't have diabetes either. Must be winter babies wanting to be as chubby as they can get!

  • Registered Users Posts: 19 emmcc

Very stressful natty_asha. I had the same at the start of the week, but a scan reassured me everything is ok. The doctor explained that the placenta is like a mattress, so it makes sense you wouldn't feel much. I had my GT test as well this week, haven't heard anything back, so assuming it was negative -fingers crossed!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,214 ✭✭✭cbyrd

I remember being told on my first that she would have a birth weight of between 7 and 8 lbs .. she was 5lbs 8 and a half ozs :D
I'm so tired the last 2 days.. I've had a busy week. the house I'm renting is being sold, it went sale agreed last year and I was told because both buyer and seller are in Australia it'd be slow. I got word on friday that the buyers are home and wanted to view on Monday, so a weekend of deep cleaning commenced and it wasn't too bad cos the kids were at their dad's.
So on Tuesday morning I was told that I was receiving my notice and I have to go househunting.. :( I have til Dec 22nd .. then between gym, early back to school mornings and an ice bucket challenge, I just came crashing down last night.. but my 2 year old had other ideas for my nights sleep.. he's just potty trained and he's dry most nights but i still put the dry nights on him, he woke crying at 1am 2 am and 3 am , eventually I copped that he might need the loo.. he did and settled back to sleep but then the neighbours son arrived home from his debs with 4 or so of his friends and stood chatting outside tll after 4am.. I nearly went mad.. eventually my OH had to go out and run them .. so sometime around 5 I fell asleep only for the alarm to go off at 7.15am..I can't wait til the clocks go back...:D
Kids are in their dads tonight, but my other half is bringing his over... no lie in tomorrow :(

It must be a winter baby thing alright! Plenty of insulation ;) My sister in law had twins in Nov a few years ago and they were both around 7lb! I'm assuming you won't go past a certain date? think my sis in law was 37 + 1.

He appears to have flipped back to the right side again during the night thankfully, so I'm getting plenty of kicks again! I just keep thinking of how cute chubby babies are so I dont get too worried about his size! I was told my first was going to be approx 7.5lbs but she wasn't! Either way it has to come out now so no point worrying about that!

God Cbyrd I'm exhausted just reading that! I hope you find something soon. I can only imagine how stressful the next few months could be for you!

    Hi ladies

I'd held off posting in here as a good few people on Boards know who am in real life, but I've been lurking in the background, keeping up to date with other posts. I figured, now I'm 29 weeks there's no longer any secret to keep :)

First baby - girl - Due 22 Nov (although my first scan matches my own date of 20 Nov so I'm going by that instead)

I've had loads of scans etc as I'm a BRCA2 carrier which means I am considered high cancer risk. I actually had ovarian cancer in 2012 & lost my left ovary as a result. It's fair to say we're very excited about this baby, as my gynecologist recommends the removal of my right ovary before the cancer comes back (it's very much expected to make a reappearance sooner or later).

Pregnancy has been manageable so far. Rough few weeks at one point but I find it hard to complain about self-inflicted side effects. Baby has been very active for the last few weeks & the nudges have turned into right little jabs over the course of the last week or so.

Anyway, that's my story ... best of luck to us all (especially for labour :))

Cbyrd even reading your post makes me exhausted! Hopefully you will find somewhere suitable soon.
After you saying about reduced movements natty, mine have been the same. I have put off going into the hospital as it a 2 hour drive and I have appointment today anyway. I still feel them moving, just not as much.
I had my first Brixton hicks contraction on Saturday night. Well that's what I think it was, my tummy went rock hard and it was really painful. I was sobbing with the pain. Don't think I'm going to do well in labour :)

Welcome one ill cat! Huge congratulations to you. I went through fertility treatments to get here so know how it feels to be in this position when all the odds were against you. It's such a great feeling! Hopefully the rest of your pregnancy will go smoothly for you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 156 ✭✭natty_asha

I think they say that movements usually peak around week 28 and after that there is a reduction in movement but more definite kicks etc. I would imagine thats possibly whats been going on, still though it can be hard not to worry.

I hope your appointment went ok today and all is well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,147 ✭✭✭orchidsrpretty

Thanks natty, you are right! Both babies are running out of space and facing inward, so not going to feel them so much :( sometimes I get the feeling that one is pushing it's foot out of my bum! Gross I know.

Hospital was really busy today was waiting 2.5 hrs for my appointment. There was a pregnant girl and her boyfriend, rolling grass joints in the waiting room and then went outside to smoke it.
    Some people........

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather we have lately and not suffering too much from the heat!

Its been an eventful few weeks here which ended up with me stuck in hospital for 3 days! Think I over did it on Friday, even though it was only some housework, a light 45 min walk and some baking! Anyway i ended up having to go to hospital at 5am sat morning due to a bleed. Was fairly scary and unexpected as I had no pain etc.

Was given steroids for babys lungs as doc was concerned it was pre term labour and kept in for observations. Baby was thankfully perfectly fine and is quite content to stay put for another while.

Thankfully I wasn't put on bedrest but just told to take it easy and be sensible! Its very frustrating all the same because all I want to do lately is get the house ready for our new arrival!

On a more positive note baby is now head down and doc doesn't think placenta is to low so all looks good for another natural birth :D The cramps from all the stretching at the bottom of my uterus due to baby having switched positions is excrutiating at times though! can hardly move at times!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,147 ✭✭✭orchidsrpretty

Omg natty, you're sure having a time of it! Glad everything is ok now.
I am the same as you, pretty much immobile at this stage. Walking up the stairs has me knocked for about 15-20mins. I've given up and spend most of my time in the couch. It's so frustrating not being able to do more, but we have to listen to our bodies I suppose.
How are you finding resting with your other child? Is it difficult?

Great news also about bubs being head down. Not long left now!

This weather is just amazing, isn't it!. I'm not able to sit out but just looking out the window puts me in a good mood!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 156 ✭✭natty_asha

yeah im loving the weather lately. if only we could move our couches out into it! :D

My daughter is great. shes 6 so doesn't take too much minding to be fair to her. she gets the bus to and from school outside the estate so I dont have any school runs. once shes home she just plays with her friends outside the front of the house or in the gardens and just pops in when she wants to be fed! She's not one for wandering off or getting into trouble so I don't have to constantly watch her.

One thing I realised from my stay in hospital is that I have a load of stuff still to get for my hospital bag! I thought I was fairly organised but how wrong was I?!

have you much things left to organise? My sister is bringing me to IKEA next week to get some stuff so looking forward to that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 135 ✭✭Julo12

God Natty that must've been pretty scary. I had to go in at 29 weeks cos I was getting contractions+pain. Got the steroids too but it eased off after a really horrible scary night and so I was able go home after just the one night. I vowed then to get my finger out and get my bag ready but 4 weeks later I'm still thinking about it! I have finished up work now tho as decided to take some holidays and mat leave a week early. I've just been so knackered and generally unwell I figured I had to do it. Would've loved to be put on bed rest but my doc seems so suspicious she makes me feel like I am just trying to trick her into getting out of work!
Might check out the aldi baby event 2mro for more stuff I prob don't need. Also hoping to pick up cotbed saw on done deal today... I've never bought anything using it before so bit nervous I'll come away with a dud!

Oh god I don't even have my hospital bag packed or anything. I was advised to have it ready from 28 weeks but just can't seem to get myself motivated. Still have to get a few bits for it. Our nursery is 3/4 finished. My boyfriend had a burst of enegry and put the floor down and cut the skirting board.... That was over 2 weeks ago and nothing since. I've painted and wallpapered it and put together the furniture. There are still shelving for the walls and skirting to be finished. Will probably never be done. We are planning on co-sleeping so I suppose it's not so major, but would of liked everything finished.

That's great about your daughter natty, I'll bet she's so excited about becoming a high sister and getting stuck in helping you!

Gosh Julo, you've had a hard time too. How's everything now? You should be grand buying off donedeal just as long as you have a good look before you buy! Enjoy your maternity leave! Time is really flying by now!

I'm not entitled to maternity leave as I took a week off unpaid before going on Health and safety leave. According to social welfare I don't qualify under the condition I don't have a contiunious record of paying Prsi between working and going on h&s leave. I worked constantly for the last 12 years but that counts for nothing.... Such s joke. Still haven't figured out what I'm going to do...

Natty you must have gotten an awful fright, I had a scare at 17 weeks, its frightening.
I have always used the 2 weeks I was overdue to pack my bag  but I would have everything in the house! I made it into Aldi at 9am this morning for the baby stuff, I got tommy tippee bottles, lots of muslin cloths, dodi's, nappy bag, maternity leggings, and some cellular blankets. I'll be breastfeeding for as long as i can so the bottles weren't priority but you just never know how it'll work out, €14.99 for 6, I remember when they were €12.99 for 2
The high chairs and bigger equipment were sold out about 10 mins after i got there, but i have all that stuff so i wasn't bothered. Pain in the ass though if you were going specially for it..
I have vests baby gros and some nappies to get. I don't bring that much with me, I'll leave other stuff at home ready so if i need it my OH can bring it in.. It's a pain trying to store stuff in the hospital and he'll be in every day so used things can be brought home. As for my own stuff, I pack light, vests and jammie bottoms will do for after the birth and I have my shower bag in my gym bag which is all the little travel bottles, if all goes well I should only be 1 or 2 nights in. In saying that, I haven't a hope of getting organised early :pac:

Had a gp check up this morning, everything is fine and when she went to listen to the baby's heartbeat, she said to my 2 year old, 'come here and say hello to the baby!' So when she found the hearbeat, she held the doppler down to his face and said say hello, It was so cute, He was talking into the doppler like it was a walkie talkie, 'Hiya baby, coming out, coming out?' I wished i had recorded it...! :D

That sounds so cute Cbyrd. My 3.5 year old nephew, talks to my belly and gives it hugs and kisses. It's far too cute!
On the list to bring into hospital it says three nightdresses. Are you able to wear pyjamas instead? I'd have to buy the nighties and would never wear them again but do wear pj bottoms around the house, so would prefer to bring them if it's an option.

Do you recommend bare essentials like 1 or 2 babygros nappies etc and leave a bag for oh to take in and out every day?

I would bring in a couple of nighties. They are much more convenient for when your in the labour ward as you will need to be checked etc quite often (ease of access) and having pj bottoms on will only mean having to take them on and off constantly (which wouldn't be possible with epidural as you will be in bed) At least with a night dress you can cover your modesty without much hassle inbetween. My sister had 3 sections and she said that a lot of pj bottoms were uncomfortable afterwards for a couple of days as they rubbed across her wound. I would definitely have pj bottoms for afterwards though once you've freshened up if its what your used to wearing. Makes you feel a bit more like you afterwards.

for the baby stuff I just bring in some vests and babygros in a few different sizes just to be sure. I ended up with only 1 that fit my daughter last time as I brought in newborn stuff and they were too small. Plenty of nappies, cotton wool and a few blankets etc as new babies can be pretty messy!

If you trust your OH to bring in what you need each day then you wont need to bring in much with you but I don't trust my OH! last time I asked him to get me a pjs when i was in hospital @ 38 weeks pregnant and he brought in a size 14 pjs from penneys! I'm not even a 14 when im not pregnant!!! I tried them on for a laugh and it kept myself and the midwives entertained for a while!

Im hoping to get into aldi to pick up a few bits over the weekend. Only need some vests and muslin cloths. Got really cute babygros in next and mothercare a few weeks back. I know sam mccauleys are having a baby event until the end of sept also if you want to stock up on other essentials that aldi might not have. Breast pads are reduced which are essential for after birth!! other stuff like cleaning accessories are reduced too.

Tis a good time to be having a baby, bargains galore! :D

I have in a little bag in the delivery room, 1 nappy 1 vest and 1 babygro, a change of night wear for myself for after my shower, a travel shower/make-up bag and a couple of pads.

In another bigger bag i have 2 more vests and babygro for after the delivery.
and 1 spare bottoms and vest 2 muslin cloths, about 6 nappies, water wipes, a packet of pads, 2 dodis,
The used stuff is put in a plastic bag and sent home
At home I have more spare vests and babygros ready for bringing in when i need them and as i'm running low I text home what i need brought in...ie nappies, pads, sanity...
I also never bring anything valuable, I have my phone and maybe €20 tucked in a bag but never my wallet.

I use a zip up hoody instead of a dressing gown too.. easier than flapping round the place.. it's what I wear at night-time at home, I couldn't wear a nightie, I'd feel weird :D

    And slipper socks ..

All going well I'm not going to be there anymore than 2 nights max, 1 if she arrives early in the morning.. I hate having to mind stuff,
My coming home clothes will be brought into me the day I'm leaving..
My OH will be in and out every day sometimes more than once, so i don't panic about forgetting anything ;)

That really sucks about the maternity leave-is it definitely right? I thought it was based on having paid x no weeks in last y yrs? Maybe call sw office or citizens information to make sure. It would be so unfair to get nothing because of one week unpaid.
Cotbed looks good and saved almost 200 on new price. Picked up some muslins, wipes and leggings in aldi plus waterproof suit for the 2 yr old so good day for the bargains!
I packed quite a big hospital bag last time and think I'll do the same again as no matter how obvious I make the pile of things to be brought in I know my oh won't find it and god know what I'd end up wearing to come home! I was sorry I hadn't brought pjs the last time as I felt quite exposed just going round in a nightie when some ppl seemed to have granny grandad 3 uncles 5aunties etc etc in on the ward 10 hrs a day... I really wished the nurses would have enforced the visitor rules more. Esp for someone trying to figure out bfing. Also the nurses didn't seem to like u keeping the curtains closed during the day. In saying that I was only in for 2 nights and I'm hoping 1 will do it this time

I know it sound mad! This is the information from social welfare! I satisfy all the conditions including having enough contributions in previous years and 39 contributions this year but because it's a gap of 1 week where I did not pay, I'm not entitled! I was crying and everything to the woman on the phone, as I'm not eligible to claim anything else. Not sure how it's going to work with mortgage payments, bills etc, and two little ones to look after. I can visit the cwo after the birth to apply for exceptional needs payment, but no guarantee I will get anything. Will have to yo back to work a lot sooner than I would like :(

Great about the cot bed, it's great getting a bargain!

Going to get the finger out and pack two bags. Do you think there is a need for books/films to watch or am I being delirious thinking I will have any down time?

It depends really. My daughter was very good and quiet - didnt cry once the whole time I was in hospital - and didnt look to be fed for the first 24 hours, so I had plenty of rest time to read a good book and I managed to watch the whole first series of Desperate Housewives! I was in for 2 nights after I had her and my family were quite sensible and didn't over do the visiting.

We were lucky with her so im preparing myself for the opposite this time!

I had my kindle with me but didn't open it for about a month after she was born... She fed constantly. If I managed to get her into the crib at all I tried to sleep. For the first 3 months I only read about 3 pages at a time! Not really ideal for the latter game of thrones books... I should really read them again as I couldn't tell u much about what happened! I did watch a lot of tv box sets once I got home just not in hospital.

I was up at the allergy clinic in Beaumont today for my yearly assessment and they weighed me, I've lost .5 kilos since I was weighed in Drogheda 3 weeks ago.... :D less to lose in 2 months time!!
I'm aware I'm eating less cos I literally can't fit the food in, I have my usual portion on the plate and half way through I'm stuffed, which is probably a good thing for my blood sugars too, although I'm still waiting for them to show a high number.. (even when I do eat a big dirty squidgy homemade chocolate brownie with loads of melty chocolate bits in :D gluten and dairy free of course )
Other than that I'm fine, I got new jext pens and new anti-histimines and a lecture that I hadn't my pen in my bag.. I also got a brand new blood test for 'wheat based exercise induced anaphylaxis' .. so i might be giving up wheat as well as sugar and dairy.. I'll be 6 stone by christmas :pac:
I'm in for a clinic on thursday, both the diabetic clinic and the baby docs.. hopefully they'll be doing another scan soon.
How is everyone else getting on?

Thats great about the weight loss, The one time having diabetes is good ha!
I had put on 1 stone at 18 weeks pregnant and since then I've lost 1 lb so 13 lbs weight gain which is ok!

My sugar levels are a bit mad but I'm hoping to get away with just the tablets this time so not in the humour of injecting again!

Only 4 weeks until maternity leave I really can't wait!

I'm back in my clinic tomorrow week, Baby has been normal size all the way along so I hope it's the same story then.
