Without a doubt. The show is growing on me lately. It's never going to be the Foley show but that's fine.

Me too! Not that I didn't like it anyway, but I like it for the show it is now, and not the show it isn't! (Ray Foley... if that makes sense?)

To be fair, KC seems like the nicest guy on radio, a great taste in music and Lenny and Adele are very entertaining too. Adele is much funnier now than she ever was on TRFS imo.

One gripe I have now is the return of Nordy Eoghan, was never a huge fan of his in the first place and his segment feels forced and a little unfunny now.

Today has confirmed it for me... KC plays the best music of any TodayFM DJ!

(Broadly speaking. Paul McLoone, Dave Cous & Friday Night 80's are specialist shows)

What kinda gems did KC pull out today too sway you?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,363 ✭✭✭ofcork

I suppose it wouldnt be hard for him to play the best music competing with dempsey, darcy and fenton,kc always played good stuff though. The show has grown on me lenny comes out with some funny stuff and enjoyed last fridays show playing peoples nightclub tunes as i get the feeling kc prefers rock to dance.

    Ah loads! ;)

He opened with Fatboy Slim -Praise You, he had Fugees on, the good U2 song from the Batman soundtrack - Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me...

what made me comment though was he played Sting & The Police - Message in a Bottle, he also played Tom Odell - Another Love and Red Hot Chili Peppers - Give It Away. Played Ian Brown too although I wouldn't be a fan.

There was the usual Maverick Sabre / Swedish House Mafia / Republic of Loose bollocks too but the variation more than made up for it. :)

Agree with the last few posts, show is really working.

Anyone hear Sean Hughes the comedian on? It was 1000 times better than the Late Late show interview. He was taking about losing his virginity in Cork with some bird from Blarney, when he chickened out halfway into the dirty deed she told him ( in her best Cork accent)
    " Ah Go Fla A Cat " hahaha .... magic !!

The music is great if you can put up with the obvious chart crap they have to play out.
'Blind Melon- No Rain' today & 'Jeremy -Pearl Jam' ( picked by a listener but still amazing to hear) I thought that Google Maps game they did today for the 1000 euro was brilliant radio - describing someones house, the door colour & the number on the house. Then loads of callers chancing their arm and the actual house owner calling in and taking the cash, top notch!!

WAAAY too many guests...They kinda become irrelivant after awhile. If i hear Calvin Harris and Florence Sweet Nothing again ill throw my radio out the window. Is the only feature of the show The People's Playlist? It needs more light harted segments or more Lenny been funny. The banter today talking about the woman from Murder She Wrote was great tho and funny radio!!

So listened in today for the first time in 6 weeks and was enjoying the new features and Lenny being Lenny again then BAM he goes and plays THAT SONG!!!!

Well done to Adelle for not making a balls of the desk like JP did once upon a time. She covered for KC and Lenny from blarney while they were talking to POC at the start of the show and started a link. Friday nights with Adelle beckons. I've had the opportunity to listen to KCs show and Adelle seems so happy and relaxed which is nice to see.

It just wouldn't be the same

Well considering Foley borrowed most of his idea's from BBC Radio 1 and Chris Moyles in particular and re-worked them I highly doubt it will make a difference.

    It was a joke!!

Someone text in " Since Ann is back are ye gonna do the gauntlet again?" :D

The way they sprung Ann onto the air today was really well done, she just came out of nowhere!

They were talking about the sick voices people do to get out of work - men are rubbish at it, wemon are great at it ...

KC -"Hey Ann Gleeson, what's your sick voice like ??
    ANN - " Sorry I can't come in for the year, I've the Cancer " :p

It was an absolutely brilliant bit of radio hearing her tell the entire story, you could not help but shed a tear when she said "I'm in remission, it's all gone"
    She's an amazing person.

There is such a 'family' buzz from TodayFM as a radio station, what they have is so unique.

I know, it's great to hear. I also loved the story Anton Savage told while filling in for Ray yesterday. He mentioned on-air something about needing or wanting chewing gum and a few minutes later KC was back from the shop with a pack of gum, opened the studio door and lobbed it at him. Anton was so taken by surprise he tried to catch it with a cup of coffee already in his hands and the coffee went all over himself. (It was funnier the way he told it! :o ) But it did make me think about how they must all get on really well, it's no wonder Foley found it such a wrench to leave.

Ann is just great isn't she? She instantly added something to the show when she popped in the other day. And she sounded so at ease and comfortable despite having never been on the show with that line-up of presenters before.. true sign of an awesome radio personality.

The show is definitely growing on me... the music is CLASS and I just think KC is so lovely :) Great to have Adele back too! I am finding however... that I don't really find Lenny funny... I feel bad saying this, because I really don't want to be negative about KC's show and I'm sure Lenny is lovely too... but I dunno, is it just me expecting a JP type character and not getting one, or what?

KC falling into the Tony Fenton trap of saying 'Joss Whedon' is on the show later when it's actually just a pre-record with the new movie guy. Would actually have loved to hear him in studio with the lads. Ah well. :(

Just on Tuesdays I think. The bit is called 'Ireland's Eoghan' and he reads stupid/funny/interesting stories from local papers all around the country, not that funny imo.

The option was 'no Joss Whedon'

    or

Send the movie guy to interview him and have Joss Whedon on show

He's one of the biggest names in Hollywood, when you get interview opportunities with people like this you take it. He was not able to hang around in Dublin for 4 extra days to do a live lunch time radio show today, unfortunately :P
