That problem page thing they just read out is ancient. They really need to up their game considerably. I'm barely listening at all during 12 - 2:30pm

So far nearly 2 weeks in and the show is good but not great, need more lenny and more banter and less guests, seems to be someone on either the show or the phone everyday.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,087 ✭✭✭Clanket

Was thinking that myself - Way too many guests.

WAAAY too many guests...They kinda become irrelivant after awhile. If i hear Calvin Harris and Florence Sweet Nothing again ill throw my radio out the window. Is the only feature of the show The People's Playlist? It needs more light harted segments or more Lenny been funny. The banter today talking about the woman from Murder She Wrote was great tho and funny radio!!

In fairness he played you could be mine from GNR which is fairly rare for today fm. Sweet child of mine ya but not YCBM.

So far so good imo. After all, Adele has been gone from TodayFM for a long time, so considering that, KC and Lenny have struck up a rapport with her fairly quickly and it's good. Does need more features though.

Still the best lunch time show on irish radio!

Still the best lunch time show on irish radio!

    Who are their "competition" anyway?

Is it still Gogan and O'Shea on the other side?

Moncrief is probably the most realistic competition, but his show is totally different style to KC.

Have to say i haven't had much chance to listen to the show over the last few weeks... In fact, I've hardly listened to Today FM at all since Foley left (apart from Friday night 80's which is class!).

Been working in a place where i cant listen too the radio since Wednesday so havent heard any of KC bar a link just before the lunch time news where two lads wanted some cheesy song (the name escapes me now) and i got out of the van before it finished....

Whigfield - Saturday night. When they laughed and made excuses for not playing it I got a little disapointed because Foley use to play it a bit. Song is shít but reminds me of Club Sarah as a teenager.

He must do, he seems to have as much, if not more control than Dempsey or Fenton, maybe even D'Arcy. Obviously he has to play a certain amount of current/chart stuff (Calvin / Florence) but some of the old skool he plays is really refreshing.

Whereas when Iano or Fenton moves away from chart stuff they just play 'the Boss' or 'the Stones' or Bowie.

Another guest tomorrow, think they need to up their level on this show as it will be interesting when the listenership figures come out.

I laughed at KC reading out the angry text from that listener, to paraphrase, the text said: "ridiculous, ridiculous bit... kids AREN'T FUNNY!".

KC said they usually ignore texts like that but he wanted that person to text in again because he had a 'special prize' for them for being such a big ---- (he cut to an ad break then) :D

For the first time i actually found myself changing station today, just not enough friday feeling about the show and really miss foleys music as i think kc prefers rock to dance.

Really isn't doing it for me I'm afraid.

I don't even know why tbh, it's just... beige. It's in no way a bad show IMO; decent music, some good interviews, live music... but it's not grabbing me.

Maybe I was just spoiled with Foley :P

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,368 ✭✭✭ofcork

Same here and reading the thread about foley makes me miss him more!

  • Registered Users Posts: 697 ✭✭✭swiftman

i kinda given up on today fm, darcy is a head wrecker and not really feeling it from kc.

Im enjoying it, but not as much as I enjoyed Foley. Maybe that's an unfair comparison to make though as I never had a problem with KC in his old slots. Now that I can listen to Foley online for most of the show and have the podcasts I'm ok with the change, KC is still finding his way I'm sure, and I'm finding Lenny funnier every day. They are guest heavy at the mo, but maybe that's a crutch of sorts to lean on to fill time for the first while. It definitely wouldn't be a good show if he tried to replicate what Ray & JP had been doing.

It's very hard not to make the comparison to the Foley show. We were certainly spoiled for the last few years. I drift in and out of KC's show without ever really listening. All I keep thinking is, Meh, it's no Ray Foley Show. Unfair I know, but I can't help it.

It has been improving though so hopefully that continues.

Today has confirmed it for me... KC plays the best music of any TodayFM DJ!

(Broadly speaking. Paul McLoone, Dave Cous & Friday Night 80's are specialist shows)

Without a doubt. The show is growing on me lately. It's never going to be the Foley show but that's fine.
