Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Also missed on Super Adventure Island.

Can I open up a 'Post here every time you miss out on a bargain!'

A Boxed pal Dreamcast, Turtles in Time boxed, Super Ghost n Goblins, Mario All Stars, Marioworld and Probotector for 150 sound like a good price?

Also who is fjpsheridan? 42 items bought on adverts since the 01/01/2012! Literally every retro peice worth getting has him offering asking. Same again this morning with something I wantred.

I was also going to bid on that Gunstar Heroes. :) He had a cart only version of Moonwalker too.

Decided against in the end though as I had a feeling someone here would also be bidding and I already own both those games. Boxed and complete. In fact I have two copies of Gunstar Heroes! Definitely no need for a third.

    Very nice fella!

He bought half of my Gamecube games a few weeks back. Sticks with the price and always arrives to collect stuff on time.

He's good for Adverts must say.

I wonder if he's a collector. I suppose for a reseller, you'd really have to be getting the games cheap in order to make money on them...not sure if adverts has that many bargains tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,276 ✭✭✭readyletsgo

He might be a collector as he did take a few cheap games off me, one or two rare ones too.

Anyway, totally recommend him if your dealing with him down the line.
Will stop now cause I might sound like I am him or something lol.

Took me a bit longer to get it... Damn it!

Edit for sake of my wondering:

Would they not have to declare themselves as a business to adverts? Is it not against the rules to resell for profit?

Not sure but how would anyone know? They could just open up a second account and they could just sell it elsewhere for bigger margins.
You ain't going to make profit on adverts with the whole 'offer 10% of your asking', 'open to swaps?', 'check my ads' and all that

Dunno but he has an eerily similar avatar to the other resellers on adverts.

Done it many times before. But, it`s not against the rules, and he may or may not be a true collector (whatever that means)
He`s only back now after a break, disappeared for a month or so...thought ran outta cash :)

For a small fish like me thou, with a budget of about a tenner-a-week, these mass buyers are a real pain thou. Especially when you know they`re gonna sell it on. I mean how many doggone copies of kingdom Hearts/Collosus/Yakuza do you need? Do they ever sleep, with a loud alarm when RSS on their smartphone buzzes?

Recently sort of gave up on adverts after watching some really insane bidding frenzies and a ran-in with one of the "collectors" who totally messed me about. Jaysis, you`d think that making 20E a week on some old PS2 games (that go for peanuts on Amazon anyway) is a matter of life & death :/

I find a lot of those people incredibly rude and drive up the prices of certain games.
I was selling an MD a while ago and one guy was a right pain, I sold it to another individual who said he'd been trying to pick one up for a while but this other chap kept jumping in, buy the stuff up then breaking the purchase up and selling the items at higher prices.
Now I know that this is free market stuff but I reckon it's still unfair as these guys are just profiteering at the expense of retro-curious gamers looking to break into the scene.
That last sentence sounded a tad wrong, didn't it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,790 ✭✭✭Jack burton

Yeah but resellers are a problem everywhere, anyone who watches the Game Chasers knows its one of their biggest problems

Got these today, gameboy with games and a gamegear with games.

The gameboy i got off ebay for 26 quid, took a chance on it as the ad said with games some boxed, with no details on the games at all.. the pic looked like there was a few hidden underneath so...

the gameboy is yellowed, but feck it i have a perfect gameboy already.

    IMG_0161.jpg

Here are the games, great condition boxes.. star wars still has the plastic wrapper on it, opened at the top. two star wars for some reason..

    IMG_0160.jpg

Best part.. still sealed Turtles game. Bonus!

    IMG_0162.jpg

and heres the gamegear, doesnt work as usual , ill try fix the caps again, this will be my third attempt at doing it myself, so far none worked haha.. EnterNow done one for me already though which works..

    IMG_0164.jpg

    IMG_0165.jpg

    Sorry about the big pics.

They`ll burn in videogame hell for this, playing Shaq Fu through RF - forever.

Other kind is chancers. "Hi guyz! this here Okami, a steal @ 35 Euro!!!111!!". I usually move along, but one got me with his 55 Euro FF7. Pointed out it`s bit over the top to which he retorted: "find this game new for less than 70 euro online including delivery. I'm a retro, ff expert, don't talk ****." Hilariously, there was one just like his on adverts for 30E. Posted the link - ad withdrawn.

Was really disappointed in that collection. It only has the PS1 version of Megaman 8 and not the saturn one with all the extras. Also it cuts out some of the endings from some of the games. However the biggest sin of all is that it reverses the shot and jump buttons which is just ridiculous! You haven't even the option to change them.

not having the option to change is a bit crap. it can ruin a game. still if it comes up for a price ill be having it.

Was out in Dundrum, & popped into Liffey Valley on the way home. I reckon most of the good stuff is pillaged, but they were putting new-used games out in the Valley.

    Raystorm?
Nice find, I liked that game a lot on the PS.

Didn't trek to any markets today, this particular atheist had to take his son to 60 minutes of Mass, as prep for his upcoming communion.. :(
Then it was off to a school fundraiser, Family Fun Bingo, as gaelige...
I should have them done by the advertising standards authority for the blatant misuse of the word "Fun" !

ah ha CiDeRmAn been there done that (Communion) This time last year we had to do 8 Sundays in a row, with mass starting @ 10.30am. Lucky you dude :)

Sure is Raystorm, havent played it in yonkes, looking forward to giving it a bash again.

This was actually my first time going to a car boot sale. Wasnt sure what to expect. It was actually my daughter that was pulling me away from the site. :D

Your man from the stall was saying it to my daughter "Isnt your daddy very good to you for buying you all these games" :p

    This mornings haul

Rush N attack, spurred on by Pat The Nes Punk's video on it - http://thepunkeffect.com/?p=93

    24wy6wp.jpg

My quest for the 16bit Aladdin games continues on the GBA. Yes I know the GBA is 32bit but its a near direct port of the 16bit SNES game

    346st38.jpg

This should need no introduction, the Capcom/Disney romance blossoms with Duck Takes. One of the few examples of a tv licensed game being actually not just good...but brilliant.

    nqx0mx.jpg

Bread & butter stuff here. This completes the 'Strike' lineup for my MD collection. And, like Aladdin, I wanna get VR on as many formats as I can as I love the arcade version & am very interested in the different ports of it.

    ddj6mh.jpg

Not sure if Nyarlothedep reads here anymore, but this should make him happy. It also kick starts my 32X collection as I had NO games for it up until now, despite owning the console for 6/7 years. It's time enough I got started. Lol, like Aladdin & VR again though, I'm massively interested in Doom & its myriad of ports. The 32X doesn't bode well, but being one for oddities, I couldn't say no. €9 for an albeit tatty, but CIB version of it was a no brainer

I too am a lover of the VR Racing game, can't call it a series as there was only one of them!
I have it on MD in both Pal and NTSC flavours, that way I can also play it on the Nomad.
I have the pitiful Saturn version, the excellent 32x version and the not as good as the 32x but much better than the Saturn edition PS2 conversion.
Outside of picking up the arcade game I think that's them all that there is, unless I'm forgetting something...
