No I got it on my Irish account for free no problem.

Go to the US store (by selecting US from countries on the bottom of itunes).
Go to apps tab, click to download any free app and it will ask you to login, but select to set up a free account. This will set up an account without the need for a credit card. Enter your details like normal, you may need to find a US postcode etc but thats easy. Google it.

    Voila! Thats it.

It seems to eat battery! But If I was on a train to Dublin and had a plug this would keep me entertained for the whole journey.

Is there any really good iphone app for travelling? like hotels/flights/tourist info etc.

I use booking.com app for hotels, but when I find the cheapest hotel in it I then ring to get a better price, might be of some use to you might not.

    Does this work on 3G?

I'm looking for a calendar app. Doesn't have to have loads of features, mainly the things that iPhone one is missing-
    • daily/weekly/fixed interval reminder, finishing on X date
    • reminder alert on scheduled time, not 5 minutes before
    • daily reminder BUT not including weekends.

Off the top of my head I don't know what else.
    cheers,
    pa.

The World Series of Poker app is real good. Very easy to play. Also the RTE News 3G app is working fine again after the latest software update.

I've tried the VLC remote and found it really handy for when I'm watching something on the laptop while it's hooked up to the TV.

The Apple remote that lets you play your itunes library from afar is good too.

The LG Mouse app is also good but not fantastic imo.

What other remote apps would you recommend?

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,002 ✭✭✭Wossack

xbmc remote is really good - a touch dear though

I see the post has been removed so this no longer makes sense

I find air mouse pro excellent.
There's a free version which is good too.

Lads, anyone know of a foreign exchange app that allows you to specify a cross border handling charge?

Oanda's app has this set to 2%

Which in fairness is not that far off BOI's charge of 1.75%. I am not sure what the other banks charge.

Air Mouse and Hippo remote are good.

Anyone recommend a good VNC/RDP app? Have ezshare lite and it seems ok.Want to buy full version but would like to hear recommends first.

    Cheers
