Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a job networking morning in Cork where job seekers come together for a coffee and discuss how they are getting on and gain advise from other job seekers on leads that they may have that may be suited to someone with different qualifications?

    Hi fifi,
Not sure if there is anything like that organised but you could try the Centre for the unemployed on North Main St as they may run something similar.

Why don't we start our own group, I wouldn't be waiting for FAS or the like. We have to get the ball rolling ourselves!

I seen this also. They offer 24 hours per week at 8.55 per hour. Thats 205 euro per week. 17 euros more than you get on the dole each week.

    ????

Smyths on Maylor Street, although that sign for Part Time/Full Time work has been up for a few weeks.
They also have night shift staff which is where the vacancies might be, not sure.

Sorry I have no idea, but it's worth a shot ringing them up. Quite hard to find jobs at the moment.

Keep an eye out on jobs.ie though. I think some phone shops - like Three were looking for staff recently.

This crowd have fairly strict criteria, but might suit the right candidate - you can't be too choosy about staying in Cork though and must like wide open spaces.

Looking for a marketing job in Cork. Does anyone know of anything going? Not looking for promotions on the street or direct selling.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25 EmZZZ

    This is a great thread!
I wish there was the same for East Cork.
Unfortunately, between the hourly wage rate and the price of petrol, it doesn't look worthwhile to work in the city.

im new to cork, was wondering if anyone knows of any jobs that might be going in social care or if anyone knows where there are residential care homes in and around cork as they are usually always looking for relief staff? any help would be really appreciated!!! :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8 dunnergs

You might try Care Choice in Montenotte - this is only about 10 mins. from the city centre (there is also a Care Choice in Whites Cross which is outside the city) - I'm not sure if they are recruiting at the minute but it's worth a try.

    Good luck with it.:)

I'd say your better bet is activelink.ie sign up to their weekly mailing list and you can browse existing vanancies (both paid and unpaid) on their website too. There has been similar to what you are asking for in the last month, though they appear gone now in Cork at least. Give it a go.

The signs didn't say, the Wagamama one might be flexible due to their opening hours.

Strange the way Aldi/Lidl are always recruiting but you seldom hear of people getting interviews let alone an actual job.

Vibes and Scribes just off Macurtain street had a sign in the window looking for somebody, experience was not essential.
