Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Back again in the RDS again this year.

    Info is available @ http://www.irishcraftbeerfestival.ie/

Also, Beoir will be giving away a few pairs of tickets on our Facebook page so keep checking closer to the time. :)

If you've not been before I'd really recommend it, always great craic and plenty of great beer on offer. I'll be floating between the Beoir stand and the Metalman bar so feel free to say hello. :D

I'll be there anyway for my third successive year. Hopefully the upward momentum will continue and the festival will continue to improve.

    I am guessing it'll be the usual €10 entry, €2.50 a half pint and €5 a pint.

EDIT: Please get a different Glass - I have 8 or 9 of the exact same in the press now :pac:

? Huh? I am in slow mode today.

Just checked the link and noticed this:
Half pints are €2.50; 7%+ beers are poured to the 2/3's mark.

Was that always the case? I didn't experience such last year.

It wasn't but I'd imagine the brewers requested it as they'd not make much profit (if any) selling pints of 7% ABV stuff for a fiver. It should encourage the brewers to bring more strong beers now.

me and my sister crashed a wedding after leaving the RDS last year :D

and my wife at home pregnant at the time, haha, we've the kid now, so in two minds on whether to bring him or not.

Of course, at the moment he only drinks homebrew milk, none of the macro formula shíte :pac:

I bet she was pissed with yee when you came back, although crashing the wedding would have been good. I don't remember much after it, except waking up in the wrong town, having overslept on the night link home :(

She wasn't, sure she'd bought the Groupon Deal for us, then we got the good news and she unfortunately couldn't go.

Little lad will be four and a half months come September, should be old enough to look after himself while his mam and dad head off to the beer festival.

Unless Ciaran76 is finished with his Hop Randall.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,697 ✭✭✭ciaran76

My other half was 7months gone last year and myself and my mates ended up with Kinsale and the Mulligans lads and this resulted in us being very tired and emotional.

We ended up at someones birthday party in Hogans in town.

The other half is looking forward to being able to go this year.

She heard all the hop Randall stories.

They only did that for Sierra Nevada Hoptimum last year.

I'm away until the Saturday evening so will only make the Sunday. 12-6 is just too short a time for such a great event. Gutted.

    Bloody holidays :(

Really disappointed with this last year, I thought it would be like an Oktoberfest with craft beers, but it was no craic at all, more like an expo than a festival, hardly any seating and what seating there was was like office chairs.
Band seemed to hardly ever be on too, and when they were were the sound was low and poor.

Weird event, they could do it so much better.

I can only speak for myself but the quieter the band is, the better.
I'm there to drink beer and chat with mates. If the band is any louder, it will drown everything else out due to the acoustics in the Serpentine Hall.

I wouldn't want it to be like a concert either, but this was just some bad sound in the corner of a room coming on and off at different intervals, to people that were awkwardly standing around with no tables for their plastic glasses.

They could at least have put out a few big tables.

    Anyway, hopefully it improves.

They could have had the place covered in seats and you'd still have the problem of people standing around, or sitting on the ground as we did.
We had a great time at it, few Friends having a chat

Yeah I'd like to see some long benches, similar to a Bierhalle.

I went last year with the quare wan and a friend, neither of who would be craft beer quaffers. One thing we found from standing was that we were inclined to move from brewer to brewer and try some of the many beers and food stalls on hand. Had we have found seats there's no way in the world that we'd have mingled around as much as we did. Having been to a few other exhibitions over the years, seats and tables are few and far between and if anything, they get in the way as a whole.

It's probably just Wally from Grand Cru, he did the Sierra Nevada stall last year; it had kegs.

Galway Bay were there last year, as were Whitewater, and DJs (aka Tempted?).

Oh and good news, Beoir have 2 pairs of tickets to give away for this. I'll be raffling one off on the Facebook page but I've checked with the mods and they've said I can give one out in this thread as well. So if you want included in the draw just mention that you're going and I'll throw everyone's name into the hat closer to the time. :)

on a side note, Ive just joined Beoir, does anyone know how I get half price tickets, figured the membership benefits certainly outweighed the cost:p

As a mod of this forum, where do I pick up my free tickets? At the door? ;)

It's some list of brewers though, I'll have to be a bit more tactical trying to get through all the specials! :)

Wasn't sure about Whitewater. I don't drink much cider but didn't recognise the DJ name.

Shows how much we've come along that there are nearly as many new breweries this year as there were breweries some years.

I wonder ifl the brewery stands will be smaller this year to fit in the extra people.

irish_goat, throw me into the ring for those tickets too. Hope to go on both Friday and Sunday again this year

Enjoyed it last year, I presume with all the extra stands it'll be in a bigger hall or spread over a couple this year?

Show your card on the door. I don't think the festival has ever filled up to the point where we've had to stop admitting walk-ins, but it's probably best to get there early to be safe.
