Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah Maps is dreadful So bad on details. Where I used to search my location and it would show a clear enough arial shot it now is blurred and hard to make out. Can't test any other features as i'm on the iPhone 4 and limited. Once the iPad 3 is updated i'll check it all out.

Seriously that bad ? That's worse than expected! Stay on iOS5 for me so!

It'll be grand once Google release their standalone app. In fact, it will probably be better. Apple's old app was lacking a lot of Google Maps features. How bad the new maps end up being for users (and Apple) really depends on how long Google decide to wait to release their app.

It's hard to say whether the end of the Google Maps licensing agreement was Apple or Google's doing. Apple was almost certainly planning to drop Google anyway, but you have to wonder if Google decided to pull the plug early or refused to renew the agreement, knowing that Apple's own offering wouldn't be ready. But in all likelihood it was probably Apple wadding into yet another area they have limited experience in. I preferred it when Apple and Google got along.

Having said that, I don't think it's incumbent on Apple to provide a free, top of the line mapping service with their devices. As the new Youtube app shows, it's better if Google take care of the apps for their own services. We don't need everything to be integrated. But the replacement of Google Maps with Apple's own mapping is a downgrade whatever way you look at it. (Although the 3D is kinda cool.)

Having put the Beta version on my iPad 2 a while back I say no. You lose Google Maps and you dont get the benefits of Siri updates or do not disturb etc. i do like the new App Store though.

I don't think I've ever used the maps on my ipad to be honest, would that be the deciding factor?

A load of app updates for iOS 6 compatibility are coming through now (Apple's own apps from what I can see.)

Will the removal off google maps affect the Nike+ running app?

It doesn't seem to have. I've just put it on phone and there is mapping on the routes from my old runs (haven't done a run since I updated)

Dd you update an iPhone or iPad - I wonder is it iPhone only as it didn't appear on my iPad & iPhone is taking an age to install

    Grand, I was just guessing.

Now realise the other person has an iPad and I thnk it's an iPhone app only.

You wouldn't use your iPad as a boarding card after all!

Maps are crap ok but I'd imagine/hope they should improve pretty soon..

In fairness, this is one of the smoothest update rollouts yet....

Maps are pretty bad alright. I think safari is a good bit faster to load pages on my iPhone 4 though.

Think I'll leave off upgrading for the time being, at least until the Google maps app is on the marketplace.

    +1 on safari

Maps seem to have the street names okay in cork city from just a quick glance. the detail is awful but hopefully that will change.

Maps are crap yes....but I like the look of it and I'm sure the content will improve.

App store great update, looks slicker and doesn't kick you out like I said earlier.

Siri....seems to have local Irish stuff.

Also jokes have been updated. "Open the Pod Bay Doors" has new answers.

I think the whole os is a bit smoother too, swiping between screens etc. overall I'm happy with it.

My first time using Siri.... i'm impressed. Picking up so much of what I say. And I love the funny answers. But it posts to FB, and searches locally.

Here's a handy list of things to ask Siri for new users like myself. I even asked how's Man U doing and it gave an answer.

BTW the Maps experience on my iPhone 4 and iPad 3 is completely different. The iPad actually isnt that bad compared. The 3D works, and the images are so much more clear the the iPhone 4. Maybe the iPhone 4S or even the 5 will have better images. The data itself is different too. My home being newly built the iPhone shows a construction site... iPad more up to date than Google Maps was. Including 3D, the iPad Maps app is an improvement in some ways. (iPad 2 could differ.

Maybe you're confused with some localised services being only in US, UK etc.

Still surprised that there are lots of Irish services on Siri now. Big improvement. They must be working on full Irish support

Tis each to their own. Some will say yes, some will say no.

Most are not using it long enough to give an educated answer.

Tried earlier. The gardai could use it as a sobriety test.

    SLOW DOWN.
