Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. And good thing, too, because it seems that From has actually upped the difficulty!

    Jesus!

  • Registered Users Posts: 439 ✭✭mrm

    Yeah tman, similar reaction here!

Difficulty up'd like how? Someone from From Software comes to your home, breaks your hands, hands you back the controller and presses start. (Actually pressing start would probably constitute waaaaay too much assistance).

It sounds great from the description in the posted article and the Kokatu article. It will be interesting to see how they replace the nexus and how they implement levelling up.

Awesome. Demon's Souls was a little too easy for me in the end. Can't wait.

You mean demons souls renamed dark souls...

No, he means Project Dark has been renamed Dark Souls.

It is, but it had a working title of Project Dark up until last week. The new name was just released.

**** yes, very near the end of the 1st one and I certainly want more!

Demons souls is a true gamers game. Its also one of the few pure console games and does what consoles do best instead of trying to be a PC game like most modern console games do these days.

So refreshing and exactly the kinda game I was hoping for to relive my console days when I bought a ps3.

Agreed. The learning curve was indeed steep, but too short. Once over the hump the back 40 was easily, but enjoyably, completed. You only really started to feel that same resistance again in NG+

I'd appreciate if the initial difficulty remained for the entire game in the sequel.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,511 ✭✭✭SK1979

Is there any indication when the Japanese launch might be yet?

Even though its on every platform, with the PS3 being multi-region, it might still be necessary to pick up that version if we're waiting a while for a European release. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,920 ✭✭✭AnCapaillMor

By all acounts it'll be released the same time in the EU, US and Asia. Should'nt be too difficult, demons souls wasn't exactly over flowing with dialogue and story for translation.

    Couldn't agree more.

Didn't hear that but if it doesn't pan out that way I'll be importing for sure. Waited far too long for a Euro release last time and the Jap version had enough English text to make it playable.

They better have some sort of pause menu , i cant tell you how many times i was in a middle of a battle and dying to go for a crapper

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,920 ✭✭✭AnCapaillMor

Leave the "pause" out, that was part of the atmosphre of the game, nothing like the feeling of fighting maneater, you've 200K+ souls and you're dieing for a piss. I tapped and crossed my legs so much\fast i think one of my feet went back in time.

Apparently this game is going to be a bit more like Kings Field in that instead of mostly linear levels the levels are going to be huge branching affairs that are a lot more open. Cannot ****ing wait!

I agree. I would also like to see more consistancy in the level and boss design throughout. If I have one criticism (and I hate myself for having it) of the game it is that I feel From Software ran out of time and resources to complete the latter levels of each world - I didn't feel that they were as deep as the early levels.
(The length of the levels 2-3, 3-3, and particularly 4-1 and 5-1. Walk through fog gate and you're immediately onto the boss. Those levels bosses were also a bit' cheap' - Astrea wasn't even a boss fight and 3-3 was so cheap they got you to play the boss....for FREE!:) Ok, a little inspired there!)

I imagine with the success of Demons Souls this will not happen on Project Dark. I really like the idea of the open world exploration.

Agree with the no pause menu. Pause is for paussies!

Also came in handy (repeatedly) for the odd domestic chore request - "Sorry dear, remember, no pause facility with this game".

I've a funny feeling i'll be getting this on both consoles, Ps3 for basic play but if enough of my 360 mates get it, i'd get on the 360 for the mltiplayer as well.

You don't need a pause button, you just disconnect the controller and the system pauses automatically!
    And a tougher Demons' Souls???
Do they hate me that much???
Will it come out here within a reasonable timeframe or will I be importing it from HK, like I did the original?
The review on Zero Punctuation is pretty funny for the original too...

I cant wait for this game. I just finished Demon's Souls over the weekend for the first time, what an amazing game.

From what I hear, this isn't a sequel, in the normal sense of the word. Its a totally new IP, but it is the same type of game, so I can only imagine what they have in store for us this time.

With Bandai on board from the start I would assume (Hope, Pray) that we wont have to wait a massive amount of time for it to be released here. Whispers are saying a release late this year. If this is true, I know what I am getting myself for Christmas. :P

I'm a bit meh about this tbh.

Got past the mid-point in the original but never felt compelled to go any further. Not sure the level desigh ever got any better then the mastery of 1-1.

for 42.95, October 7th release date though? I don't think there's been an official release date announced anyway so the price is the only thing that matters at this stage. 43 euros for a special edition seems cheap enough, I'm tempted to just get it. Do they take the money straight away does anyone know?

Forgive me for my ignorance but is Demon Souls the game with the same maker as resident evil and same composer as silent hill? I was just in extra vision yday looking at some games and might of picked up this one to have a gander at the back of the case, was something like "Joe Bloggs has killed too many demons now they are out for revenge etc etc". Is that the one?!?! haha :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,561 ✭✭✭rickyjb

Love the website name, good to see their setting their stall out early:D They could've made it a bit easier to read though, writings very dark...

They're really pushing the traps aspect, wasn't so much of that in the last one, also differences in elevation so alot of climbing (and falling!) etc. should be good. Seems like the whole thing will be on a much bigger scale than the last one.

They really are sticking to what they know when it comes to characters/storyline though, it's pretty much the exact same.

I'm not 100% but I don't think so, it's from a relatively small developer called From Software who I don't think had anything to do with Res Evil.

Ah, you're thinking of Capcom and Devil May Cry is it?
