Firstly that is absolutely what will be on the card. Secondly why in the name of christ would you be fearful of this? It's absolutely fantastic news. The product that will be here in July will be a Cage Warriors card (of two years ago) rebranded as the UFC and it will sell out in seconds. That has been what their expansion has been all about.

Great news all the same for Irish fighters as it gives them the platform to excel and propel themselves up the promotion.

I'd love to see more Irish fighters signed. Hopefully they'll pick up one more of Holohan, Redmond or Fadipe.

Also expecting the Americans with Irish heritage like Cody Donovan and Joe Proctor to be on the card.

Wilson Reis tweeted yesterday that he wanted on the card. Would love to see him fight live. Super fighter.

The UFC would Definitely be coming back to Dublin with or without McGregor as part of the big European tour, it will sell out because of McGregor though.

    Agree and disagree.

McGregor speeded up the process for sure and it would sell out regardless.

It's the UFC I don't want a cage warrior standard card, id be delighted with the Irish guys on the undercard and Connor and Norman on the main card .
We are maybe getting two preliminary fighters as the main event it will be a little underwhelming after the long wait .
It would be nice to see some big stars fighting live is all.

I understand you don't want a Cage Warriors standard card but reality is it will be. That's what the UFC expansion has been so far. They're doing a bloody great job of it. Not in a month of Sunday would cage warriors sell out te o2 but rebrand te product as UFC and it'll sell out 5 times over.

I just can't understand how people are surprised.

I see what you mean but can it justify the prices of tickets etc?

You can be sure it will sell out.
Watching the Q&A with Conor he said he hopes to be on the card.Might be reading too much into it but 1st time he said anything like that. It's usually I'll be on that card!

Yep that seemed very strange "Hopes to"

Anyone know if TUF will have aired by then?

I remember Conor said he wanted to fight on the 4th of July card in Vegas, this was before the Dublin card was announced

Its mentioned at 2:05 of this video

I'd say you could sit front row in Cage Warriors for the same price to sit in cheapest UFC seat in nosebleeds. That being said they lowered their prices for first time in 3 years for last London card

The fight card in Germany starts at €50, so I'd imagine it will probably be similarly priced. I think the type of fight card will be determined by what platform they want to show it. We're probably looking at a fight pass card.

Agghh, I saw something about it but it's gone from my brain.

Think it was Severemma reporting over the weekend as last week in May/first week in June??

Yep. That's it. They did say that that date could possibly change though.

Cathal Pendred mentioned on twitter as well that he reckons end of May start of June as well.

Weigh-ins are open to everyone (but get there early as it was a full house the last time) If you are a member of the UFC Fight Club you get to go to the Q&A which is on before the weigh-ins. I have a wedding on the same day so I won't make the event (gutted)

Cool story. Myself and the brother went to the weigh ins from work back in 2009. We left work early and still had our work jackets on with company logo displayed. Immediately after the weigh ins all the fighters went behind the curtain. I took a chance and approached "the security" on the night, he had a quick glance at the jacket and ushered me through thinking I was a fight team member. I grabbed the brother and pulled him through aswell. Team " Leinster driving campus" were in. We took as many photos with the fighters as we could before Dana spotted us and we were fcuked out on our ear.

The fighters were dead sound considering they were dehydrated etc. Shogun was having none of it though

Those suggesting that the TUF finale could be on in Dublin can stop now. It's on in Vegas on July 6th. The night after UFC 175.

And i'll top that again ;)

I won the UFC Fight Club backstage tour, took my lad with me, had full backstage access for weigh ins, tour of the octagon and backstage, Could choose 4 fighters to have a chat and photo with, went with Rich, Hendo, Shogun and Marcus Davis, was gonna go with Coleman instead of Davis but he was in a real scorpy humor.

Before the fights we got another tour from Big Dan, who's a mate that i knew well before the event, he took us into the fighter dressing rooms when he did the chat with them, was quite surprised when he talked to Kampmann as he wasn't aware of an illegal elbow, had to be explained to him (imagine a set of headphones etc)

Also got a fully signed event poster each

Bold move but doubt MacDonald or the UFC will take much notice of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,257 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

Nelson deserves a Top 10 guy at this point surely? McDonald is way too much of a shot IMO but someone like Saffedine? Maybe Ellenberger or someone like that? A fight with Matt Brown would be good too but only if Erick Silva beats him as I can see him fighting a Top 5 guy otherwise. He was supposed to fight Mike Pyle a while back, that's an option.

Just to note, UFC now have Gunni ranked at #14!

Tickets for Fight Night Berlin go on sale in 15 days. That's almost 2 months the show. I remember it being a similar time frame for UFC London.
Going by that I would imagine they'll go on sale around the last week of May, but that's an absolute guess.

You would have to think after his performance against Maia that Rory would handle Gunnar in the same fashion at this stage.

Ellenberger would be the worst match up in my opinion he would knock Gunnar out unless he improves his striking dramatically.

Stun Gun or Matt brown if he loses are the fights I would fancy him in the top ten.

    Have to laugh at this.
    Ellenberger would ko him.
Gunni striking is very good and its improved immensely while hes been off . Hed make short work of ellenberger.
I think hes ready for a Mcdonald.would be a great fight and we've seen from Mcdonald in the Lawlor fight that hes vulnerable when the pressure is applied .
I think maybe matt brown tho next then a top 3 contender.
Gunni would sub both them or GnP them into a stoppage.
    Hes a ****ing beast .
