    Right guys,

It's been mentioned above already so I'll just keep the thought alive.

I think we all agree that Phoenix Park is simply a replacement for Oxegen. Cheaper to run and more profitable for MCD etc etc.

Now that T in the Park (Oxegen has always shares this line-up) has announced a chunk of its 2012 line-up can we expect any of the acts playing there to appear in Dublin either as support acts or headliners.

MCD will announce (I'm guessing) gigd for the Friday and Saturday in the coming weeks.

    Examples of possible appearances:

Friday: David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Jessie J, Two Door Cinema Club, The Vacinnes, Emeli Sande, Example, Tine Tempah, Professor Green, Kaiser Chiefs

Saturday: Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro, Kasabian, Elbow, James Morrison, Happy Mondays

Obviously, not all these will appear but just throwing a few ideas out there!!!

Has Mumford & Sons any Irish shows this year yet?

    Snow Patrol Is Sold Out:pac:

I know both main bands on this bill are popular - but since when were they popular enough to sell out 45k tickets in a couple of hours - this stinks again.....something just doesn't sound right here.....

MCD know what will sell. Snow Patrol played two nights in Dublin and three nights in Belfast in January, both Dublin & Belfast sold out in minutes.

FATM sold out the O2 for the 2nd March also in minutes.

Both bands have very successful albums currently out and both bands, especially Snow Patrol, have a wide selection of big hits and lively tunes which all lead to a big sell. Snow Patrol would also have a large support in the North which would add to sales.

I think you're looking at the likes of Foo Fighters with Kasabian and maybe a night consisting of Rihanna/Katy Perry with David Guetta as possible headliners for a Friday and Saturday night gig. I know that many die-hard music fans would not appreciate a few of the above names but at the end of the day, both would sell out in a matter of minutes!!!

I find it weird myself, was at a ticketmaster outlet this morning with loads of other people, and very few, if any of them, were buying tickets for this. Doesn't add up.

What about online sales???? That's where the majority of purchasing is done these days.

Also, MCD and Snow Patrol both had 48 hour presales which would have shifted quiet a number of tickets!!! These gigs also have a 45,000 capacity. Population of ROI 4.5 million, Population of NI 1.8 million. Not that difficult to sell out really..

To be fair, it's not 1996 anymore! Fans at ticketmaster kioks/shops can't be seen to be a fair reflection of the ticket buying public, when every Tom, Dick and Harry has a laptop!

Exactly Snow Patrol are quite big , there arena dates nearly = 45000 people so add in FATM who also sold out the O2 and you have a massive sell out . Plus it was'nt too expensive when you think about the 3 acts that are on the bill .

I might pick up a ticket closer to the date when they do the usual "release production tickets" etc depending on what other gigs are on

Would have to agree. I know it's a very popular line up for the masses but I'm still surprised it's 'sold out' so quick. People are leaving it later to buy tickets these days and much fewer gigs selling out in quick time. I didn't see any ads for this myself, first thing I saw it was on was here about lunchtime after selling out. Fully expect that we'll see more tickets made available for this closer to the event.

Any actual word on the other Phoenix park gigs apart from the general speculation on here

Or when people who bought 4 or 6 tickets for mates who won't want to go in the end so they end up selling them

With the exception of massive bands like U2, there are always loads of tickets for sale at cost price for large open air gigs close to the date

This is probably just speculation again but I reckon we might get Kasabian on the next big announcement, seen as how the two main stage acts for T are already confirmed for the Phoenix Park.

I hope they'll announce Foo Fighters headining and Kasabian next with maybe Frank Turner or Miles Kane on the same bill.

Well tbh i'd be surprised if they sold many more tickets for this then were sold for watch the throne this morning.

    Yea i could see maybe

    Kasabian
    Elbow
    Frank Turner
    The Enemy
    Miles Kane

Maybe they could throw in Chase & Status in their instead of someone

Any chance of The Killers being announced seeing as the new album is due out later this year?

Is it going to be an open air event or in a tent?

A 45,000 capacity tent be epic.

I wouldn't trust MCD/Ticketmaster with their "soldout" malarky; I bought standing Noel Gallagher/The Vaccines tickets last weekend even though standing tickets had apparently sold out three weeks previously.

Yea i remember when they said Muse was sold out a few years ago , i went onto TM and picked up 2 standing tickets minutes later :D:D . All you gotta do is keep checking TM everyone so often and you will find tickets

definitely........there are a couple of different things here...

for the very large outdoor gigs they always used to hold back a significant number of tickets to release closer to the date of the show, I don't know if they sill do that but it was a method to try and deal with Touts.....

then of course there's Ticket returns/cancellations close to the date, these usually start a couple of weeks before the show but will be small enough in number, but always check in the last couple of weeks before a show.....

I've often been at "Sold Out" shows that were nowhere near it, and allowing for people that just can't make it on the day there were definitely tickets not sold for some......

Do we think any of the acts announced for Belsonic in Belfast could be appearing South of the Border this summer. We know Thin Lizzy will be playing Dublin as they confirmed that a date will be announced shortly.

any chance of a dance gig with maybe shm headlining? theyre playing a 65000 capacity gig in milton keynes.

Could Swedish House Mafia sell 45,000 tickets?

Thin Lizzy will probably be one of the smaller acts if there is a big rock day with Metallica, Black Sabbath etc.

    Other…

As for other major gigs south of the border, Dublin's Phoenix Park is surely set for another couple of major shows to add to The Stone Roses and Snow Patrol/Florence which are already on-sale. The big rumour was Rihanna - personally I'm not convinced. I think the likes of Arctic Monkeys or The Killers are a better bet. Then there's Slane. Coldplay was the big rumour and while that seems to have gone a little cold, if Slane happens it seems a cert they'll be headliners. If not, Foo Fighters are a possibility - I'm convinced they'll play either Dublin or Slane this summer.

Still find it so odd how Coldplay's tour has been announced for months and Ireland still hasn't a date.

    Arcade Fire perhaps?

Arcade Fire would be cool, Radiohead would be orgasmic. David Bowie? What's he up to?!

That Forbideen Fruit looks very tempting

Are Arcade Fire not on a long break? We probably wont see new AF dates till 2013.

I'd love if they prove me wrong though!

I'll say it again - Black Sabbath won't be doing a date in the here in the summer, they are playing 1 date this year - Download, all other dates cancelled, and no more to be added this year....

Except one date to be announced in the US apparently, though a full North American leg was originally in the pipeline.

Look no further than this. Expect most of the headliners here to play Phoenix Park at some stage that weekend.

Id say we will see a Kasabian date aswell along with someone like Elbow and a few others on the same bill

Once the Killers finalise their new album you can almost be certain they'll headline on the Sunday night at T.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,539 ✭✭✭ghostdancer

far more likely to be a Guetta/Calvin Harris/Erol Alkan/SHM/Chase&Status/Skrillex/other kiddie-dance type thing on the Friday or Saturday imo.

No they wont Kasabian are headlining, It looks like The Killers wont be in Europe till August since all major festivals have their headliners confirmed . They will probably also do T-Vital aswell

It's just as well Oxegen isnt going ahead, that T in the Park lineup is piss poor, lets be honest !

I know more acts will be annouced, but for now it's mainly full of reformed bands and hip hop ****é

I think it might , SHM had a massive attendance at Oxegen (so i hear i was at Foo Fighters) , Snoop Dogg , Calvin and Tinie are all massive acts . If they keep prices reasonable like Snow Patrol it well sell out

Also its weird that Calvin Harris is doing TITP the same night . Presume he will be on 1st to allow him to get over to Scotland

    €59.50 onsale next friday
