Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Since spring training is only around the corner, who is interested in joining a Boards Fantasy Baseball for the upcoming season?

This league will be a non-keeper and will more than likely be head-to-head. Of course suggestions are welcome on rosters sizes and positions, scoring categories etc for the makeup of the league. Feel free to PM me if you dont want to post and I will put up the initial list of players in a few days. Draft wont be until a week or so before the first games in Japan so there is plenty of time to get involved...

Busy with "life" this year so will not commit to any additional leagues.
I will run the Keeper league as last year.

Hi guys, we have a new Fantasy Sports forum for all sports:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1535

I have started a thread on the non-keeper league:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056549959

Maybe we can use this thread moving forward and keep this forum to baseball chat only?

Hey 8-10, was a decision made on where the fantasy baseball threads are to be located? I had a look at the fanatsy sports category and it looks to be dominated by fantasy football, I think we could get lost in there. I kinda like have the fanatsy baseball threads here as its easier to keep up. I'm sure the non-fantasy baseball player dont mind too much...I hope :)

Anyways thanks for posting an updated list. There are now 16 player interested players...

Yeah I strongly oppose having threads in that new forum. I have absolutely no idea how it got approved, such a blatantly backhand way of the fantasy soccer getting the forum it wanted. Any non soccer league that puts its forum there will die out rather quickly. Look at the stupid number of soccer related posts in there already.

I guess they maybe got the thread cos the the fantasy american football got a dedicated subforum. That was needed to help organise all the boards leagues that were run last year and to be fair it is well organised.

I think we'll have 3 leagues (2 keeper and 1 non-keeper) this year so that will be 3 league threads, that shouldn't clog up this baseball forum too much. We can keep all league related talk within their respective threads.

    Hey guys,

Any idea what kind of league this is going to be and what website we'll be using, and who commish is?
If needed, I could set up a poll for it as I had done something pretty similar for the Keeper League 2.0 (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056550937 - still open to new owners) and got everyone to vote to decide scoring, rosters, trades, etc.

Think it will be a head-to-head, 5x5 categorys with daily roster changes, similar to the settings we had in the boards.ie league last year. There will be a few new players so its best to keep it simple although if there is greater than 12 player it might be best to up it to a 6x6...

Since I started the thread I was going to commish it, if I do I would prefer to play in Yahoo. Have you set up your league yet? I was think of creating it in the 2 week of March and hold the draft in the few days before the games in Japan...

Sounds good to me, although would wonder if everyone would be up for daily roster changes, especially in H2H can be big swing as usually guy who is more active on pitching changes can win the week. Would be able to do it most weeks myself but everyone in league might not be.

Have set up the Keeper League 2.0, doing it on ESPN, looks like it's going to be roto based on votes so far so will be good to have something different here.
Can still change everything up until draft day thankfully, so have set it up so everyone can get ready beforehand.

With daily roster changes you can set the lineups days (even weeks) in advance so you dont have to active daily. Having daily roster changes is good in H2H as it allows you to make changes to turn a matchup around. There will a max on player adds a week (4 is the default) so people have to think about who they bring in. I must get the default rules for Yahoo H2H leagues and post them...

That sounds pretty good, sorry had misunderstood the first time, thought it would be madness dropping and adding pitchers every night.
Was in league few years ago where guys would get 30-40 starts a week in pitching through pure activity and zero strategy, was pretty annoying.

Sunday 25th is good for me. Just got to make sure it dont clash with the live drafts for the keeper leagues if thats to be the date.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,514 ✭✭✭BigBadRob83

Am open on the draft date at the moment, might be worth putting up a poll closer to the time to see what suits people so we get as many as possible in the live draft?

Yea, its best to put a poll up to find the best time to suit all. I'm going to create the league over the weekend and start getting the invites out. I'll know more on the invitation process once I create the league so watch this space...

The two keeper league drafts are on March 26 and 30 so the 25th works there. 25th is Fine for me. Cheers for setting this up Coeus.

I have created the non-keeper keague and just sent out the league details to the player list above. League settings have changed slightly as I have added a draft date and max teams (of 16). I set draft date of March 27th to avoid the keeper league drafts for now but this can be changed later on to a date and time that suits as many player as possible.

Hey guys, I'm seeing 12 teams registered for the league. Currently there is a schedule in place for everyone to play each other twice (22 week season) followed by a 3 week postseason.

I have set up a poll so we can decide on a draft date and time. I'll leave it open for the week and see what we come up with...
    http://www.doodle.com/83ec9m8ezcv33dgq

To give an indication of how long a draft might take, I just completed a 12 man draft where all players were present. It took just over 90 minutes...

Yea, at the moment 2 times suits all 6 who have voted, thats Thurs 22/3 @ 10 pm and Mon 26/3 @ 10 pm. If it stays like this I'll set the draft for the latter as its closest to the start of the season...

At the moment the max teams set to 12 and those places have been filled. Its going to be a head-to-head league so an even number of teams is needed for the league.

Somebody else PM'd me wanting in so he still wants to play then sure you can join. I'll PM him now. Otherwise we'll need to recruit from here.

Draft is provisionally set for March 26th @10 PM so there is plenty of time.

Hey Mike, if the non-keeper ends up being full we have room in the first-year keeper league if you're interested.

You get any good ideas on team to support?

I'd like to play as well. I've only watched one baseball game before (game 7 of last year's World Series), but was planning to watch more this year. I'll suck, but thought it would help me get into the game.

Is someone still left to sign-up lads? ONly see 13 in the league at the moment.

Coeus - just wondering for the Head-to-Head scoring is it "H2H Each" (if you win a week 6 categories to 4 you're record is 6-4) or "H2H Most" (if you win a week 6 categories to 4 you're record is 1-0)?

    Cheers

Its normal head-to-head which from the above is H2H each. Yahoo uses different terms as 'H2H Most' is called 'Head-toHead one win' in Yahoo. All the league types are explained here.

    http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/sports/fantasysports/baseball/rules/brules-07.html

I prefer this type of head-to-head league as even if your having a bad week you can still get some points...

Thanks man. Yeah it's much better than the 'one-win' type, just wanted to check before finalising my draft board. Not that it will make massive impact
