needs to be a little more 'discreet' at the breakdown though.

Playing a totally different game than Warburton, which might not be Gatland's flavour.

He's not competing for Warburtons place at all really, he's competing for Crofts. And I think he's doing a very good job at it.

Just dunno if he's going to be able to shift Croft.

Flashback to Saturday - name this player

Barnes: "Best Finisher in Northern Hemisphere"

    Alex Corbisieiro?

Great hands from SOB but re penalty against him whether he's right or wrong ref told him to stop and he didn't.

It's whats making the difference in making the test team I'm afraid :(

F*cking hell. Lions handling is really not sticking.

think he's competing for the bench spot with Lydiate tbh. Needs to show that he can play either role without any bother.

Tidy up his act a little on the deck and he should be there though.

It was Cuthbert I think, even after North scored his try.

Technically if he (the tackler)doesn't go to ground, he does have to come back enough the gate...

I think it had to do with the definition of a tackler

It doesn't matter if he goes to ground at all. It just matters if he is the tackler, which he wasn't.

I don't usually find Barnes annoying but I don't know what he's on about regarding Murray today. Murray has been sharp and quick. The pass was a little undercooked to Grant but the play probably wouldn't have broken down if Grant had better hands. Plus the move started because Murray took the ball and took a quick lineout. All in all, it doesn't add up to a bad game for Murray.

Poor spell of defending from the Lions. Gray, Hibbard and Zebo all waltzed past.

I'm on my phone now, we might tease this out later?

    Lydiate is a tackling machine

I don't think he can make the bench because I don't think Gatland will want a player of his style on the bench. I don't think that is a qualititave decision.

Maybe he can force his way in though.

Lydiate very solid so far. Making tackle after tackle and stopping them dead.

Lydiate with a good break but a big spill

Yeah on the whole I find Barnes to be usually quite a fair commentator, who has no particular agendas/issues/bias towards teams or players.

But today Murray has been pretty good so far, so not sure why he is implying he hasn't been great.

Was that Lydiate or OBrien? Commentators said O'Brien and have confused me!

Is Gray any better than Toner? I'm not sure he is.

SOB needs to be pretty close to perfect to start and maybe even just to make the bench, he' been good and if a few things had stuck it would have been excellent, frustrating I would say.

On evidence of rugby of rugby played this season, no. Toner should dye his hair.

Ian Evans, Maitland, Faletau and Tuilagi probably the beneficiaries of that half.

Murray and SOB have gone well but have made some fairly prominent errors which will weigh heavily against them. SOB spilling the ball there and his penalty conceded. Murray one or two sloppy pops and kicking ball out before the hooter sounded.

Kearney has done little. Dealt with what he had to but not forcing his way into anything.

Zebo has got his hands on the ball but a few errors have possibly ended any hopes of his shot at the 23 jersey.
