that's horrible. I saw about 30 cars with water up to the bottom of the windows - I imagine they're all ruined.

What's the story with tap water btw?

I heard that 40% of the city has none at all. We have it here but I wonder if it's ok to drink?

If your water is running, and is clear, it's perfectly safe to drink. If it stops at all, or turns coloured, then it's not safe and you need to get bottled water.

Is the floodin expected to get worse again tonight and tomorrow morning due to high tide or will have the waters receeded enough to deal with the high tide?

Well there is more rain tomorrow/tonight and with the ESB releasing more water from the dam, high winds, tides and the ground not being able to take any more water as it is, there is a great chance of more flooding

    Met Eireann:
Cold and dry early tonight with some clear spells. But wet and windy weather will sweep up from the south later on tonight, with some very heavy rain over Munster and south Leinster by dawn.

Maradyke Arena is under 3 feet of water. I was whishted away from taking any inside shots. The public park and the crickit club there are all flooded. Generaly under 3 feet of water. Tragedy really., the Arena is a great amenity.

Maradyke Arena GAA pitch. The border thing is actually a fence.

Waded through it! I brought my bike but I had to dismount it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,849 ✭✭✭Redisle

Oh holy crap.. Maradyke is destroyed! That has to be the pic showing the most damage so far, devastating! Id love to have a look myself but don't own any waders!

These photos are just immense, gob smacked at the scale of it and the distance it has covered, from the mardyke river all the way to the UCC/Gaol cross river seem to be almost one.

Last I've heard, bottled water has sold out in most of the shopping centres. There will be emergency supply tankers in Blackpool SC, Ballyvolane SC, Nemo Rangers and a few others. Water is expected to be out for 4/5 days so stock up if you can find any.

Believe it or not, some of the pubs and clubs are going to try and open tonight.....:)

The students there were being evacuated.
Sorry the images are pretty large, up to 250kb each...
