Wilson is an absolute student of the game, and that was clear long before he got to the NFL. Learnt two completely different offenses during his college days too. He has a Peyton Manning type drive when it comes to watching tape, conducting analysis, learning plays, etc.

I'm not so sure Manziel has that same ethic and intelligence about him. Sure, he's committed to football, I don't buy that he's not, but I wouldn't be quite expecting him to have the same success in his first year as Wilson or RGIII. Both players showed far more commitment to the pocket and working progressions than Manziel has done in college, too.

He may never reach those heights, but it'll be sure as hell fun to watch.

It's crazy to me that Wilson went two rounds after Brandon Weeden. Despite the fact that Wilson was clearly better in every regard except height. His height was such an issue that Weeden's age (meaning he had no time to sit and watch/learn) was still considered much, much less of a handicap. Hopefully the height issue will no longer affect quality QB's.

FWIW I would pick Manziel ahead of Bortles in a heartbeat. If anyone truly thinks Bortles is a true first overall pick, they need a new career tbh.

i dont think anyone thinks any qb is a "true first overall pick" its more a question of which would be less of a reach

I'd say Bridgewater is worth picking No.1 overall

he may be worth it but only because hes a qb to my mind that does not make him a true no 1 talent. but its arguing semantics.

Went through 12 Big Boards from popular draft writers/sites and came up with the following average positions (these are my top 100 prospects, but not in the order I rank them - they're sorted by the average of position of the 12 boards I looked at, so there might be someone missing, i.e. if they had an average of less than 100, but weren't in my top 100). There's no QBs as I don't have them in my Top 100 - too difficult to compare to other positions. At least not yet, I might find a place for them the next slow work day :P

Texans has the best defensive player in the NFL for the last two years play every game last year and still had he worst record, because they had nothing at QB! As good as Clowney (or anyone else you think is number one) is I'm taking the QB I think is best with the first pic!

Amazing Jordan Matthews is so far down the WR rankings, the ninth WR overall. He's put up stunning numbers for an average team in the best conference in college football, one littered with top-class defenses.

I think he can become a legitimate #1 receiver and unlike even Watkins (#1 in WRs) size and durability are non factors with Matthews. Someone is going to get a steal if he is that low come the draft.

He will be an utter steal. Think he will come in & tear it up. The guy is a legitimate No.1 WR.

Not a chance he gets to the 3rd. Def will go in the 1st dozen picks in the 2nd I reckon. Wouldn't mind us getting him there

wouldn't surprise me at all i think he'd definitely be gone early 2nd in a normal year but there is an insane amount of good receivers in this draft i think a few very very good receivers will drop to the late 3rd or even early 4th

Similar to Matthews and looking at how boards mock draft is going I wouldn't draft a WR in the top 10 of this draft because you'll still get a very good prospect in the second round.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,017 ✭✭✭Leslie91

Chargers will go up about 10 spots in round 2 for Matthews if they get their corner/NT in round 1. There's a prediction for you!!.

Jon Gruden praising somebody isn't news, but he had one hell of an endorsement for Aaron Murray.
Jon Gruden, "After 5 years of doing this, Aaron Murray is near the top to come through here." On Gruden QB camp.

How high were people expecting his draft stock to be prior to that knee injury? You hear nothing about him in the media compared to the main 4 or 5 QBs, or so.

Great, great read on Ra'Shede Hageman here. Didn't realise his upbringing was so rough, had never heard about it.
He was born on fourth-and-long. Mom drank when she was pregnant with him. Traded sex for drugs while he was in diapers. State authorities dragged him out of a crack house closet when he was 4 years old. Threw Mom in prison. Dad? Dead before the kid met him.

Start most kids off like that, they're looking at 15 to 20 by the time they're 18.

I think he would have been a late first round pick. Very very clever footballer. Doesn't have "Prototypical" height or a cannon of an arm but is football and book smart and has a lovely quick release. He has the ability to avoid pressure in the pocket and is a decent decision maker. The NFL draft projection thingy have him down as a 5-6 rounder. I think he'll go in day 2.

So a West Coast offense would suit him down to the ground? Quick releases, follow progressions, and accuracy over short-medium throws.

Be interesting to see where he ends up now.

The depth in this draft in so many positions will have me hooked for years. Really interested in seeing how it all pans out.

Wouldn't have been very involved, or read up on, previous years. Only started watching them two years ago, for one thing.

How about the Rams or even my beloved Jets as a landing spot for Murray. I get the feeling that Les Snead and Co. are not convinced with Bradford. Likewise he would be a slightly different option and would be under no pressure to play with the Jets. The Jets have a load of mid round picks in this draft if Murray was to drop to the 4th round I'd be delighted if they picked him up.

I think it would have been very unlikely he would haven been a 1st rounder. His height & lack of top end arm are definite knocks ok. Could have seen him be a 3rd rounder before the injury, dont think he will get out of the 4th.

Apparently Mettenberger is garnering alot of interest at the moment. Seen quiet a few projections of him in the early 2nd round. I think Arizona be a great spot for him as he can sit for a year & he is a perfect fit for that vertical offense.

The other QB that I have heard with a positive draft stock is Pitt QB Tom Savage. I know little of him but he is being projected as a 3rd rounder

His arm strength has some drooling over him. Even with his injury.

I'd draft Tom Savage just for his name tbh. Some guys, you don't even have to scout them. You just know by their name.

My whole drafting strategy in Madden is based off of this. Wolverine Justice, Ashton Martin, Mark Fightmaster, Tornado Davis, Tremendous Johnson, Gunnar Gunnerson .... I've drafted them all.

Apparently the Eagles & Dolphins are in talks over a trade. The Eagles will get Dion Jordan (last years No.3 overall pick) and in return the Dolphins will get the Eagles 1st rounder this tear (No. 22 overall) & Brandon Graham

Eagles offered out 2nd rounder and Brandon graham the dolphins said no. Not a hope we give a first and graham for him

Talking about Tom Savage, Gil Brant is talking about taking him in the second round as he won't be around in the third! Second round pick for a guy who attended 3 colleges and played less than 30 college games, too much of a project QB for a second rounder me thinks.

Patriots seem like a good place for Murray. They asked for a private workout lately as well.
