Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Seen John Hughes a few days back doing a bit of shopping, that is all.

    Been a boring summer.

John Hughes, what a man in terms of silver fox status.

I saw Richard Branson fishing the other day.

Feels awesome not to have the thought of results hanging over my head anymore :D

Edit: I retract this statement. I passed one of my French modules by compensation. If I want to keep it next year (which I very much do want to do) I have to repeat all modules in August.

Don't go out to celebrate exam results when you have work at 9 the next morning :(

    You know what's creepy?

Waking up to a text from Banquo saying, "I can seeeee youuuu".

    And the curtains were CLOSED.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,283 ✭✭✭PrivateEye

Today (well eh...yesterday) equals BEST DAY!!

Finally got paid by people on eBay who've left me waiting aaaaaages.
Bought new clothes (Bt2 sale is massive)
Sat in the park all day.

Also, was on a counter-demo against a Youth Defence march (not getting into boring explanation, go to Politics section big thread there) and some old guy called me a "Bum lover and a fagg0t" for disagreeing with him on abortion, another accused me of something involving the Lisbon Treaty and one even threw holy water on me. Awesome!

    Youth Defence, don't ever change.

    /sigh

Unfortunately, I doubt they ever will!

I hope you cringed and hissed theatrically at the touch of the holy water? :D

:pac: I remember seeing the EXACT SAME faces they get outside the GPO every week in our Arts Block once and thinking 'wow, this is actually just a tiny roadshow of weird people all related to each other'

Got to hand it to them, they really are sh/t scared about that Lisbon Treaty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,487 ✭✭✭banquo

I'm pro-life andpro-Lisbon, but I don't think that the people who disagree with me are stupid and bad. Statistically it's probably that a small minority are, but that's true of both camps. People who talk to you like that are assholes of the highest order.

Though I like the holy water guy. He just sounds interesting.

I harassed some old hairy man in Bradys last night, shouting, "There's a friend for you Emma!!" every time he danced near us....he thought he was sh1t hot due to the hair ruffling, fool. I'm exhausted and has work soon, but managers might go easy on us....it was a send off for a stockroom monkey.

Home from inter railing :( Now to sort out my repeats. Missed the deadline too to sign up for them so I have to pay an extra €100.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,283 ✭✭✭PrivateEye

    FFFUUUUU!!! Terrible.
    How was inter-railing?

Friends taking off to do it later this month, but me = broke so its sunny London for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,094 ✭✭✭Beau

Ah it was great. I was gone for a month but it went incredibly fast, can't believe I'm home already. I'd really recommend Ljubljana, Slovenia and Krakow, Poland as places to go.

It was last Friday. You fill in a form and pay €60 for each repeat by bank draft. It all comes with your results.

If anyone has a single room available in their house for the summer untill the end of the exams give me a shout. I'd prefer to be living with people than living on my own.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,487 ✭✭✭banquo

    @Beau: I know a few people, I'll ask around.

That inter railing has screwed with your grammar my man ;)

On a more serious note, I know someone! It would be living with two girls, are you a girl? But I'll ask if they still have that free room and PM you the girl's number if you want?

    Michelle

Thanks a million guys. Not a girl but I don't mind. If they have internet and TV that'd be sweet but if not, thats fine. I'll send you PM's with my number.

A woman is getting back to me about a place in Doctors Lane but I'd be on my own.

I didn't get one with my results. I don't have to repeat. Like, I can take my other two subjects in to 2nd year but I want to take french. Fuck I'm going away tomorrow.

Is mobile reception grand in Maynooth? On all networks? Buying a new phone and wondering if I should factor reception in when choosing a netowrk just.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,241 ✭✭✭barleybooley

There are areas that are Meteor reception black holes. I live in Moyglare Abbey and reception is never more than 2 bars

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,195 ✭✭✭✭Michellenman

Meteor is a bit Shit. Apparently Vodafone is good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,241 ✭✭✭barleybooley

Yeah, but getting more bang for your buck ftw. It's not like I need to make phone calls/send texts at night when I'm back in my house... *struggles to have faith in what has just been said* :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,960 ✭✭✭allandanyways

if you're gonna be living on campus, vodafone and O2 are the only ways to go. You'll struggle to get one bar of reception in the River apts with meteor.

(makes sure nobody can ring you during sexytime though ;))

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,094 ✭✭✭Beau

I love Meteor wish everyone was on it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,195 ✭✭✭✭Michellenman

Why? You can have free texts to everyone on it anyway
