I think it was an 80s Val Kilmer movie about scientific genii (or whatever the plural of 'genius' is). Looking up title now...

    EDIT: "Real Genius"
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089886/
Dr. Meredith: A bit of advice...
    Mitch: Oh, uh, thank you...
Dr. Meredith: Always... no, no... never... forget to check your references.
Mitch: Uh... ok... thank you. I'd better be going.
    [leaves]
Dr. Meredith: [to his wife] I think the young people enjoy it when I "get down" verbally, don't you?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Hmmm that's not where I know it from. Could it have been parodied by Family Guy or the like?

If you ever travel back in time, don't step on anything because even the tiniest change can alter the future in ways you can't imagine.

    Aha! Victory is mine!

    It was Father Ted -
FATHER PURCELL: Well this is a piece of advice my father gave to me. This refers not only to lagging, but all forms of insulation. He said "dont ever"...no, wait, it was "always"...no, "never" - oh, I forgot now. Never mind. Whats your favourite humming noise? Would it be mmm-mmmmm or would it be mmmm-mm? The first one there, now thats the sound of a fridge; and the second one, thats the sound of a man humming. You never hear a woman humming. I knew a woman once, but she died soon afterwards. Now if you push me to it, I'd have to say my favourite colour is grey. No, blue. A soft blue with a hint of grey. No, orange. Yes, orange. I remember now.

My head is no longer melted.

Well, I dunno. Fair is foul and foul is fair. Read Macbeth.

Live for the moment, I guess. Oh yeah, and when that girlfriend mentions that she wouldn't mind a threesome - ARRANGE IT. Don't just go 'ah yeah, deadly, it wouldn't be bad'. You'll rue the day and your next girlfriend will have absolutely no interest in such an arrangement. You will be left with what ifs while someone else contends with having to satisty two girls!

There is no economic wisdom that I can offer... solicitors and architects are on the dole applying for jobs in McDonalds... Irish bank shares have lost more than 99% of their value... THE IMF IS GOING TO BE CALLED IN BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR.

Run. Leave now. Invest your money in German Bonds. Emigrate.

I would tell them, never bother voting on referendums because if the government don't get the answer they want you will have to do it all over again until they do.

They fu<k you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were fu<ked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another's throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don't have any kids yourself.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of ’97
    Wear sunscreen
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be
it. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by
scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable
    than my own meandering
experience…I will dispense this advice now.

Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not
understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded.
But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and
recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before
you and how fabulous you really looked….You’re not as fat as you
    imagine.

Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as
effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing
bubblegum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that
never crossed your worried mind; the kind that blindside you at 4pm
    on some idle Tuesday.

Do one thing everyday that scares you

    Sing

Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, don’t put up with
people who are reckless with yours.

    Floss

Don’t waste your time on jealousy; sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes
you’re behind…the race is long, and in the end, it’s only with
    yourself.

Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults; if you
succeed in doing this, tell me how.

Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements.

    Stretch

Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your
life…the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they
wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year
    olds I know still don’t.

    Get plenty of calcium.

Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.

Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll have children, maybe
you won’t, maybe you’ll divorce at 40, maybe you’ll dance the funky
chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary…what ever you do, don’t
congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either – your
choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s. Enjoy your body,
use it every way you can…don’t be afraid of it, or what other people
think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever
    own..

Dance…even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.

Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them.

Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.

(Brother and sister together we'll make it through
Someday your spirit will take you and guide you there
I know you've been hurting, and I know I've been waiting to be there
for you. And I'll be there, just tell me now, whenever I can.
    Everybody's free.)

Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for
    good.

...or something along those lines :pac:

"If ever you find yourself traveling through time and landing in the past, don't touch anything. It will create a time paradox and change the reality of the present in ways that we cannot predict."

    Sound advice.

    Edit: Already been advised.

If I could go back and unpost what I posted... I would... but it might affect what has happened to me since... and that might rip apart the space-time continuum.
