    I agree with you on the G-Shock, in fact I have one being shipped right now to replace my last one which went missing on last holiday.

    But I don't get the big draw towards Vostoks. Now in fairness I've never held one or seen one in the flesh. In fact I had never heard of them 'til I found this forum! However that date setting function would drive me up the wall, I have to have date on my watches and it has to be set accurately.

    Interested to understand what is so appealing about them to so many. Is it the design, the engineering, the Russian-link?

    Mega cheap (bought my Amphibia brand new for EUR62 including shipping iirc), properly working automatic dive watch that's near indestructible because of the construction of the glass dome. It is said you can drive a truck over it, no bother. Tough as old boots. Also funky design and sure, the Russian link. What's not to like?

    Was too small on my wrist so I let it go. Must look into getting one of the newer bigger models.

    For me anyway it would be the design(the plainer dial examples), the hardiness(they're the Tonka trucks of mechanical watches), the history and the unique approach to water resistance in the Amphibia models, they can also return remarkably accurate timekeeping, and all at very keen prices.

    Ok, I had no idea they were that cheap, that price alone unkel is enough justification.

    The hardiness factor is also appealing. Still very impressed by that price point though, that's serious value for an auto, especially so if they're well built and accurate.

    My new speedmaster got its new strap and deployant. I think a strap suits this watch very well, that and I really dont need another metal bracelet watch.

    Brown always looks good on a speedmaster.

    Where you get deployant? Hopefully not new from AD as they are €€€.

    I have 3 or 4 I bought second hand for around 150 each.

    Now will not pay dealer prices on strap and buckles. Got used on ebay...strap is a non omega one. Have the origional used strap that came with the deployant its a dark textured leather...but I have a thing about used straps they are gross.

    Good stuff. There would be no change from 600 for the strap and deployant from an AD.

He just is not willing to accept the depreciation even though he sold one the same last year for 2800. Watches are not cars the year they were bought doesnt matter only model and condition. A 2019 10/10 one is the same price as a 2018 10/10 one.

    He needs to be very patient if he wants to sell a specialist watch like that for above top dollar in the small Irish market.

    Like watches but never got round to any thing more than functional ones. Usually one at a time with Casio 248? being a rock (sailing) on and off over decades. I rediscovered it recently and it works fine but looks beaten up. Until today I had my late Da's watch which a nice and simple Glycine.

    So, on the spur of the moment picked this up at the local jeweler. Comments for a noob in this forum welcome....

    God bless your patience, Eoin - I got two new straps delivered to work there a week ago and wore two watches in to fit them straight away! The denim looks great.

    Two incoming next week, not game changers by any means but firsts for me :)

    Long time lurker, first time poster in this thread. I have some far more expensive watches but I'm absolutely LOVING this Casio G-Shock GA-2100 (aka the Casioak). Just got a new bezel for it today to stealth it out a bit :)

    That is brilliant, I think the all black GA-2100 is too dark, but also didn't like the white text on your one. That is perfection.

    Another seiko for the collection.. This is the turtle Save the Ocean version.

    Have ordered some different colour Barton bands (pictured below) for it for the summer to give it a few different looks.

    Standard turtle specs inside with a custom bezel and dial..

    First G-Shocks! My, but I am chuffed with myself/them.

    I thought of going for the yellow GA-2000 as the hands were different to all other models (except blue, wasn't available), but figured it would be too loud for me. Don't regret it, the navy is perfect and will do as a casual watch. Size wise, it's supposed to be 52mm, but it wears much much smaller.

    The GBD will do me as a digital chrono for matches and stuff, though i feel the step counter may be little more than a gimmick.

    Both extremely comfortable, wouldn't feel them at all on the wrist.

    All for under €150. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but I'm really not bothered! :pac:

    Some time last year I started noticing the classic two-tone Rolex Datejust (ref.16233). Although there's a few of them in jewellery shop windows, I've never seen anyone wearing one. They're expensive enough online, but I managed to find a decent one from 1995 in good condition with papers and box for about €1,000 cheaper than online or Dublin high street shops. The bracelet was slightly rattley - as is apparently normal with these watches - but a new pair of springboard has taken care of most of that.

    Anyway, here it is on the flesh, if not in it. I'm pretty pleased with it. I've worn it pretty much every day for the last two months. (The one in American Psycho has a tapestry dial in case you're wondering.
