Pacers get stuck in traffic just as much as any other runner. The only time I remember NOT being 30+ seconds behind after mile 1 was the year when our pace group happened to be at the start of wave 2[/quote
Thanks. Will try to get to the front of 'wave 2'.

I'm wrecked lads - full blown sinus infection that I didn't pick up in time and has turned me into a shivering, shaking, sweating mess. I'm on antibiotics and just feel totally drained of energy. So today's run is out, tomorrow's VO2 max mile repeats are out, and to be honest with the way I'm feeling now I'll be lucky to get back by the weekend.

But all the hard work is done right? I should just rest up until at least Friday and focus on getting better and keeping hydrated?
I suppose it's just a waiting game at this stage.

You are your own best sage M. Yep, we train and get close to the edge health wise. You will recover in time so give yourself every chance and switch off to the best of your ability for the next few days.

C'mere, are you from the Glen or Miami fuppin' Beach? You'll be grand. Rest up and you'll be raring to go in a week's time. Perfect.

I was knocked out for the last week. Went all out at the Galway Bay half marathon (and smashed my pb by six mins!), and went for a few pints after. Between the exertions of the race and the night out I was drained for most of last week. Feeling good again, but I think it's too close to the marathon to do anything too intense. Will just do some light runs for the next 10 days and keep the muscles working.

I tell ya one thing - Donadea Forest felt like the Mangrove swamps of Florida last Saturday!
I'm a terrible patient - add a bit of taper madness to that it's panic stations!

By the way - 17 trees down on the Centre Park Road and more down on the Marina, and 3 down on Glen Avenue after Ophelia - so Miami Beach may not be a bad comparison. :) I dunno what it was like elsewhere but it was scary here for a while!

I've no choice but to switch off D. I'm actually glad it was an infection and not some crappy virus that would take me a few weeks to get over, because last night I though I had the flu - shivering, sheets were soaked with sweat etc. But I'm as week as a kitten. Hopefully its partly the body just saying "enough - time to rest!"

Amazing how often when my body has simply 'had enough' that I get sick. Yes might well be the body ensuring that it get's a break :) Get well soon :)

Saw some of the pics alright. Hopefully they'll now have to do something about the atrocious footpaths down there. Start organising a Dub marathon table of predicted times and what not like a good chap. The sadist in me, a significant %, does love studying those tables!

Start of the plan I was aiming for sub-4, but I quickly revised to sub-3:50 and now sub-3:45 as the training's gone really well. Might as well go for it eh!

Have had to pare back the goal a bit since commencing training, due to injury. It may be pared back further before the day, but that's where I think things are at right now....

Apologies Unthought Known. I have no clue why it has put me above you in the table, so I have no clue to to undo it. It's in the correct order when I go to edit it. Strange

I have to add a qualifier to this. My plan is to do my own solo marathon in Limerick on the morning of the DCM, so not sure if I should be on this list!

Probably not, but let us know how you get on. Seems like an awful waste though - can you not sign up for something official? One of the East of Ireland series, maybe.
