JohnBoy26 wrote: » happens to the best of us:) I don't know how mazda got this engine so badly wrong. The 626 before it had an old school engine but at least it had solid reliability. With a more modern engine you would naturally expect a few issues with the engine in the 6 but it gave way more than just a few issues. Pity as it would of made a good alternative to other diesel cars otherwise.

Is it me - or does the Alfa 166 look very nice in black. Think Peugeot and Alfa need to go off and have a long heard think for themselves. Here we have two of their cars in bangernomics price range that are more interesting/nicer/desirable - all imo - then anything either of the 2 manufacturers sell new today. Enough said.

Though the tyres were a huge factor (Michelins on the Sportivos as opposed to Chinese plastic on the pepperpots) the ride quality hasn't deteriorated, actually improved I'd love a 2.4 myself! 2.5 will have to do :pac: I wish mine were black it really suits it, a strong dark colour made them look well. Right wheels too Unusual to see a petrol 406 in Ireland, less chance of it being worked hard and looked after a bit better than the equivalent HDi Both seriously comfortable cars, worth it alone to do long distances in and not get sore

From memory - they are extremely comfortable cars (been a few years since I was in one last). Why the French moved away from that is beyond me 407 not a disaster comfort wise - but not really standing out comfort wise compared to the 406. Still don't get how Peugeot somehow managed to move from building fabulous cars going back the years from 504s to 205s through to 406s - and now they are average. 508 does look nice though to be fair - but I can never see it being anything like as comfy as a 406. Mind you - the only car ive being in (v8 LS 400/430s aside) that's matched the 406s were the Renault Safrane and Renault 25s. Im off now better find some cars:)

Got GLX seats with lumbar and tilt, perfect. No back pains from driving, nice and comfortable even heavily lowered Sure the 166/Mercs/BMW's here are more comfortable but they're not in the same league. Dare I say more comfortable than 156 momos....? Only one to rival the 406 seats were the mk1 Lagunas and Xantias..... A bit of a trend emerging! Oblig automobilNCT till July, 1100
Old diesel wrote: » A bit of trend emerging is right - the French used to make very very comfortable cars. Funny though you've posted a Merc - they've always being top of the pile in the competition to beat the older French cars for comfort. heres something quite a bit less comfy - but still a nice thinghttp://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/05-fiat-panda-nct-2015/5622783 What do we think of Pandas in general - put up a thread about Lancers some time back - but now these are on my radar. Hard to value that one - Panda prices seem to be like up and down depending on what moods sellers are in. Does have test to August (I think) 2015.
dgt wrote: » The 280SE here has seats in it like armchairs, seriously comfortable  but I'd expect that from a W126! Even the cloths in it originally were nice to sit in Pandas have a lovely driving position, very roomy generally cheerful and cheap to run, mind the coolant system. Apart from that a grand little car
