think its pretty certain that kenny will step aside in the summer. lots of rumours bout a new DOF and manager. I dont think Rafa liked working with a DOF from his time at Valencia, hard to see how his attitude could have changed. Read a certain ITK on another forum saying that there were 'big, big changes ahead in the summer in terms of DOF, manager and player sales/arrivals'

Do you think he's got the necessary attributes both as a professional and as a personality to achieve success in the Premier League or elsewhere in Europe?

A) He's an out-and-out goalscorer, a front-to-goal centre-forward who can finish off both feet, and with excellent spring that makes him a threat in the air. Something of a late developer, he burst into life three years ago when he broke scoring records in Colombia with Medellin, and has since carried that form into Mexican football. The Premier League is a step up, though. His touch and general approach play are not great, and the worry would be that he might not build up a head of steam to feel confident about his game.

Jackson Martínez is Liverpool's newest player

“The European club have paid three million $US for the Colombian striker," and now the "Cha-Cha-Cha" will be danced to an English beat.

Various press outlets in Mexico report that Liverpool have already paid Jaguares a sum of money to secure the signing of Jackson Martínez, who will now be competing in the Premier League in England.

One of Mexico's most credible journalists is Jorge Zambrano, who, in an interview with RCN-Antena 2, revealed the fee negotiated with the English club: "Jackson is a player from another part of the world, and so the Liverpool board have already made a downpayment of 3 of the 9 million dollars," he claimed.

With knowledge of the official version of events, the Mexican commentator states that the transfer of the Colombian forward to Liverpool, known in English as "The Reds" and considered one of the most important in Europe, has already been agreed. "Now I can safely say that Jackson is a Liverpool player." ´

However, he is convinced that the Liverpool board will consider offering him the opportunity to play for another Premier League club: "They will quickly loan him out to another club, which is the way they do things in Europe."
Even still, he is sure that this will be Martínez' final season at Jaguares: "Jackon is certain to leave Mexico this summer."

On Jackson Martinez - I actually read that whole post that OPR linked up the other day and watched a Youtube video - he looks decent, like he knows where the goal is, and fairly complete in terms of finishing off his left, right and head. Not sure how good his general play is, but what we're most lacking is a goalscorer, and he looks like someone who will get in the box and finish the chances we've been creating.

I'd be excited about him as a signing, but a little bit disappointed as well because I think nay hope we had of a marquee signing in that position has gone. I don't see us spending big on a centre forward if we're already spending a bit on Martinez. It could also be an indication that our budget is not huge this summer. Maybe about £20m?

I don't know, it's all speculation but I think that's what this potential signing would indicate

Liverpool are poised to make a move for Benfica midfielder Nolito.

Nolito only joined the Portuguese giants last summer from Barcelona, but could be set for a big-money move at the end of the season.
The 25-year-old has signed a contract until 2015, but Portuguese newspaper Record are claiming Benfica would consider offers in the region of £15million and Liverpool appear to be the strong favourites to clinch his signature.
Kenny Dalglish is determined to see his side challenge for a top four place next season and is set to make a number of signings during the summer.

Liverpool are ready to rekindle their interest in Inter striker Luc Castaignos according to Voetbal International.

Reds boss Kenny Dalglish was keen on the Dutchman during the winter transfer window and a loan switch to Anfield was mooted for the former Feyenoord striker.

Castaignos is even believed to have made a secret visit to Merseyside over the winter, in a clear sign of just how seriously a potential move was taken by both sides.

However, doing business with Inter proved difficult and, as Castaignos told Inside Futbol last month, he was keen to continue to learn his trade with the Nerazzurri.

"Even if I am not a starter, I can learn a lot from training every day with world class footballers like [Wesley] Sneijder, [Diego] Milito, [Esteban] Cambiasso and [Javier] Zanetti", said the 19-year-old.

"This is the main reason why last January I turned down every option I had to move on loan to another club."

Liverpool though look set to test Castaignos’ resolve and are preparing to return to Inter with a solid offer for the Dutchman.

Castaignos is thought to be seen at Anfield as a replacement for countryman Dirk Kuyt, who is edging closer towards a summer exit.

But while the player has experience of operating on the flank, as Kuyt has with the Reds despite being signed as a central striker, it is not something Castaignos would welcome.

"I am a striker, nothing else", said the Inter starlet.

Liverpool then could have to reassure Castaignos that his role would be to spearhead the side’s attack, rather than operate out wide.

That seems par for the course.

Now we'll just have to wait another 14 months until he has been labelled a flop and we can't find a team to buy him and we pay his wages while we loan him Inception-style to 2 different teams within one loan and thrown in a dodgy points system to ensure we are fully getting screwed over.

97% of the players we'll be linked with in the next few months will be either wrong or just totally made up, so I'm not getting too excited about anything unless it's being widely reported as on the cards (which could still go wrong, but far more likely to be accurate).

Somehow i get the feeling that we will not be putting much emphasis on cup competitions next season. I just have a feeling John Henry will knock heads off each other if there isnt serious moves towards CL places. If Kenny is still the manager i expect some words will be had on priorities. We dont have a squad capable for multi pronged attacks on trophies. We have been in 2 this year and from what i see, half the squad has turned off in the league.

The Europa league means absolutely nothing to me, if Kenny put out this years next gen team in it id be delighted. Having said that, if we spend heavily i might change my mind.

I despise Thurs/Sun football dates.
