In my head I can't see Russia even contemplating end the war until another 3 summers of attacks have been completed. Will that be enough to conquer the rest of Donetsk region? Possibly but that depends on support.
Even asking the question of whether Russia could conquer the rest of the Donetsk region in three Summers of offensives shows what a failure the Russian war effort has been. They had been looking to conquer the whole of Ukraine in a few weeks when they first attacked in 2022. By anyone's reckoning that has to be a serious revision of objectives in the face of unexpectedly tough resistance. And this is with dwindling American support, which was supposed to be the death knell for Ukraine.
At this point, the reason for Russia continuing to push in Ukraine has nothing much to do with the potential rewards of that reduced victory and more to do with internal Russian politics. Like Netanyahu in Israel, it's a key pillar propping up his position to be a wartime president where meaningful change cannot occur until the conflict has been brought to an end. If it cannot end in victory for Russia, then it cannot end for Putin.
Russian "protection" has been immensely worse for those regions than whatever military and security Ukraine activity was engaged in after 2014. Activity only necessary because of Russia fomenting trouble.
I think this is the bit that exposes the lie of going in to protect "russians" utterly without any counter being available.
You don't save people by flattening cities and mining the ground for generations to come.
It's use as a whataboutism renders the posts of those users worthless.
Putin's idea of help is flattening the cities, sending the menfolk off to die as cannon fodder and using women and children as slaves.
Yep…
Like this?
A Russian degenerate bragging to his online followers that there's Ukrainian child girls just waiting to be collected by any Russian man that wants any. This is in the Russian occupied parts of Ukraine. He says the parents need food and money. So he took the girl off their hands.
In the comments people understand now why American paedophiles now want to travel to Russia in the present time.
Russia has massed 50,000 troops at the border with the Kharkiv region, — Sky News
Analysts say that among them are some of the most experienced and elite units, including airborne troops. Reports suggest that Russia has a four-month window to achieve a breakthrough before the weather worsens and Soviet-era equipment stocks run low.
They also reckon they can keep going similar to this pace for 2 years. There's not a chance Putin will give up any of this summer or next summer for a ceasefire. Probably will attack for summer 2027 as well. In my head I can't see Russia even contemplating end the war until another 3 summers of attacks have been completed. Will that be enough to conquer the rest of Donetsk region? Possibly but that depends on support.
"EU may buy U.S. weapons for Ukraine" - Bloomberg
Amid Trump’s reluctance to back Kyiv and Europe’s limited stockpiles, EU leaders are considering purchasing American arms to supply the Ukrainian military.
Trump probably knows this and wants the EU to sign an arms deal with the US worth a few hundred billion. One positive is with a weaker dollar buying American weapons is cheaper.

"That’s not to say that the US will not uphold NATO obligations as best it can"
That’s not to say that the US will not uphold NATO obligations as best it can
Would be fine if it could be believed
What has a referendum got to do with it ?
re ‘asking for help’ says you or says who? Or tell me where o can find the results of a fair referendum carried out to show what you are claiming?
Yes. The Trump plan, which to be fair was also the Biden plan, even if he didn’t put as much emphasis and publicity behind it, was to throw its full weight against China, on the basis that it would probably be what it takes to be successful. His “abandoning of European Allies” is in reality the correct thing to do. Most everyone realizes (particularly Russia and China) that the US may not be able to fight WWIII on the same two-front basis as it did in WW2. Europe arming itself to the level of deterring Russia which is not unreasonable allows the US to focus on deterring China. Attempting to rely on the US deterring both risks nobody being deterred at all. That’s not to say that the US will not uphold NATO obligations as best it can, but the level of support that can be relied upon if the US is to still successfully counter China may not be enough to hold off Russia without significant increases in capability from European nations.
The point of the article is to link to a paid Russian liar and regurgitate the same sounds he’s been banging on since before 2022 that the situation is hopeless for Ukraine, Russia big Russia endless manpower and equipment, yada yada (refer to my post about Russian lies higher up)
Tho I suspect all it will accomplish is solidify in the minds of Germans that they need to take Russian barbarian threat seriously and spend on defence and aid of Ukraine
Russia cannot afford to keep the pace of production with the additional costs of a fast burning out economy.
Bild reporter @JulianRoepcke reporting on the reality from the battleground where it looks like increasingly obvious where this conflict will be decided.
Translation below-
"In the fourth year of the war, it is becoming clear: Russia is pursuing a clear goal - to win the war against Ukraine - and is consistently setting its entire economy to achieve this goal
Russia can now deploy around 1,000 advanced fibre-optic drones every day, in addition to conventional weapons — all produced in Russian weapons factories. The trend is accelerating: up to 2,000 drones per day are expected in the coming months.
The number of "Geraniums" also continues to grow. About 150 of these drones are used daily. Within a year, this number could increase to 500.
Russia manages to surpass all of Europe in terms of weapons and military power. There is a lack of political will - not only in Washington, but especially in Berlin, Paris, London and most other European capitals,"
Seems to be confirmed by Nato commander General Cavoli's testimony last month as well as others about the increase in Russian military production and ability to continue it for the next two years at least.
Another shift has been in fibre optic drones which were used in Kursk region to cut the supply lines that led to the collapse of the whole region.

you have some good points
But the Russians lie
they lie about everything, the lies are so outrageous and they have been lied to for so long they don’t even blink at how batshit crazy some of these lies (that have repeatedly been addressed and debunked on this thread) are
If they could some how tap all that gaslighting they be the largest gas exporters in world!
People are getting agitated because we in Ireland are not used to the scale of Russian corruption and lies, these constant lies offend the sensibilities of anyone who grew up on this island,
Lies lies and more blatant and unashamed lies about everything
It’s a form of psychological warfare they used to inflict on their own but now being unleashed on the west
I suspect what Putin has on Trump is not some sex pee tape but that he was groomed and coached from 80s in the psyops tactics developed under USSR and then perfected by Putin
The other largest thread on this subforum is the Trump one, and both have similarities in that every day has an outrageous lie larger than the previous
TL:DR Russians lie and this is why Russians stand out in a culture where lying and corruption and disregard for human existence is not endemic
Mod warning:
I will advise you all to stop this ridiculous tit for tat posting, otherwise I can arrange for people to take a break from the forum.
Seriously people...
I'm not commenting on the war in that post you quoted.
It's a comment on the thread being a tribalist sh1t shoe. Posters calling out Putin propaganda is right and proper but repeated
*Conspiracy theories are high fives
*Some drivel about Trump having super powers due to tax legislation is left go unchallenged
*Another poster wanted two supreme court justice impeachments along other anti democratic changes in the USA.
*Rejoicing in deaths of ordinary soldiers (many of whom are conscripts including Ukrainian conscripts from invaded lands) is particularly distasteful but all good in this thread. But hey whatever gets you validation on social media is all good it seems
Trump should be called out for his madness and cronism but not calling out patent nonsense devalues any critique. It's not as if there isn't enough verified dirt on him.
As for the war EU needs to get serious about which it's doing Net zero or energy security; it can't do both. They've been dragging their heels for an age DESPITE Putin already being in Ukraine since 2014, with trade between Russia and EU being at 250 Billion annually in those years. They still have trade worth 65 Billion. USA trade is at 3.5B.
A rather inconvenient topic for the thread given the silence when it's brought up.
The only feasible way Putin leaves Ukraine is if economy collaspes, EU hasn't the where with all or ambition to go on the offensive in Ukraine. China and India have cheap energy currently they don't want war to end or Russia to collapse just yet.
USA under Trump and indeed under Biden have been really limited in their assistance. That's not going to get any better.
EU is only option to to force Putin to table but they won't and this war will rumble on as Putin and his cronies dont care about war deaths Ukrainian or their own.

Drawing a comparison to World War I, Zaluzhny warned that the war has reached a virtual standstill – strategically and physically – because traditional tactics are no longer viable and large-scale assaults are “nearly suicidal.”
Hard to disagree with much of what Zaluzhny says. This war has clearly been in a miserable attritional phase for a long time now. While both sides are still capable of maintaining the fight today, at some stage in the future, someone will crack.
The stakes are so high now and the outcome is binary. One side will win, the other will lose. Even to this day, it does not seem that the European politicians in charge are taking the threat seriously enough.
Honestly, I don't care a bit how you view my posts or what you believe about me, in fact your "beliefs" and my actual experience just leads me to laugh at your position
What kind of “perspective” would bend over backwards to defend children’s playgrounds and hospitals being deliberately targeted
Trying to get other posters to argue your position for you indicates that you have no belief in your own position and other posters can take you as weak and impotent on the topic.
But, if we go to the "I was in russia" anecdate, I know multiple russian speaking people from DPR who were displaced when russian trying to insert it's own weaklings into the area, those people now hate the russians and would no longer speak the language.
Of course, my track record will lead to other posters believing me while not believing anything you post, which you can reflect on a bit (I don't believe you've been in russia for the past 3 years, again, knowing someone who had to make the trip and effectively made it their last trip home while dictator putin clings to power desperately by making up foreign enemies).
You are an avid reader of this thread and it was mentioned many many times so I am sure you can find it.
Enlighten me about that region please.
I'm not taking my information from news or Internet, I've seen first hand.
You are not the first poster talking about perspective. However, perspective doesn’t seem the right word. I think you mean you understand and support what Russia is doing.
Having a perspective gives you an understanding but it doesn’t mean you support. I understand why US went to Irak. However, I didn’t support it. The fact you went to Russia many times and still talk about LPR and DPR asking Russia for help is surprising with all the information available to you.
There have been bots and dodgy accounts on this site. Russia is engaged in a large information war and has been doing heavily since the mid 2010's, troll factories, etc.
Personally I don't think you are a bot, but when a poster comes in, and starts repeating those same tropes, then it's not uncommon to see links being made.
That's fine, however belief and indoctrination are powerful things. The main thing someone with a questionable belief does is to discount global journalism and news, why? Because it's going to contradict their narrative (not to be confused with normal criticism)
Likewise another is the addition of false "balance", the notion that there are two sides which are somehow equal
These are all red flags which add up
Did you visit the US, the UK, Australia wtcover the 20 years they were in Afghanistan?
I've stated though quite a few times my connection, so I've a perspective from that. However, alot of people won't have anything close to that and their perspective and opinions form from a different view, fine. So when those will say "I'm buying into the Russian propaganda" I'm not taking my information from news or Internet, I've seen first hand. Anyway, I've covered this multiple times here, don't want to repeat all this for pages every so often. We've different views, different opinions.
For the record, I don't view posters such as yourself as a bot. Deeply misguided and heavily buying into the Russian line in spite of all the facts. I do find it somewhat odd that you've been visiting Russia post invasion though. You're actively visiting a state that has invaded Ukraine and engaged in genocide. The genocide line is the official one from Putin too.
So you don't accept those regions asked for help?
