Good move from Germany. The first thing the Russians should know about what armaments the Ukrainians have been given should be when they're being hit with them.

Medinsky was part of the last talks in 2022 if that’s who they want to negotiate so be it.

To date, Putin has had no intention of peace. He has bombed the country 24/7 since Feb 2022.

Professor analyst guy on Prime Time said that Putin sending a bunch of minor officials to Istanbul shows he is not remotely serious about any sort of negotiations with Ukraine - it was just a cheap and cynical PR stunt.
Now we just need to wait for the vatnik storytellers to rewrite history, they'll say Zelenskyi isn't interested in peace and has offended Trump. And something something Boris Johnson again.
Anything to distract from the fact that Russia can stop the war anytime by ending their illegal invasion.

When Putin suggested a meeting in Istanbul , Trump , shortly after that that he might attend. The following two points in relation to this - FROM THE RUSSIAN PERSPECTIVE - are, IMO , are key to Russias non interest in treating the proposed talks as in any way serious.:-
(1) when Putin announced the Istanbul meeting he knew that Trump was spending a few days in the Middle East - a short plane hop from Istanbul. If he will only deal with Trump to find a solution to the conflict he NEVER - in public anyway- asked Trump about he attending the Istanbul meeting also
(2) Trump , shortly after the Putin announcement re the Istanbul meeting gave a very strong indication that he might attend if he could be of ‘some use’. There was no indication from Trump that he may not go - all he needed was a brief comment from Putin that ‘I will go then’. Putin obviously declined/ ignored the opportunity. It was effectively was a clear invitation from Trump - T rump would have loved the limelight / photo opportunity presented

The fact that he initiated the talks demonstrates that they want to talk. If it’s stringing people along then why make the suggestion in the first place ?

Then why has he refused to show up to the “meeting of leaders” he himself proposed and instead sent junior officials who are not empowered to negotiate anything as he is the dictator who started this war
