I thought that after the white house Trump organised ambush and Trumps subsequent comments about Zelensky, that he has washed his hands completely of both Zeleksky and Ukraine…. but it seems that his love of Ukrainian wealth over rides all other consideration, personal or otherwise. Slimy barsteward. The world will be a better place for his passing…

    I remember that story.

    https://www.thejournal.ie/ireland-send-weapons-to-ukraine-5694833-Feb2022/

Per article, I think we only had 10s of Javelins though.

We had/have more (100s, even low 1000s?) of lighter anti tank weapons (AT4) that would not harm a modern Russian tank, but would be able to blow up some lighter vehicles.

I had a thought there, if we had a stockpile of several 1000 Javelin missiles in Feb. 2022 others in Europe might have come looking to get them off us for Ukraine back then (despite neutrality etc. etc.)

Point taken. But the rest of my post still stands.

So there was no chance to leave Mariupol before February 28th?

7:40 - The UK's and France's combined nuke stockpile is dwarfed by Russia's but, as Carl Dinnen said, we're not yet in the position where Russia could use those nukes without the US retaliating.

If there was one Russian nuclear attack on any NATO member state in Europe, it would cause a global outcry (including in the US) and a massive economic crisis in addition to the deaths of millions of people and the inflation that took place in the US economy under the Biden administration would be a storm in a teacup by comparison.

They have more than enough to level Moscow and St. Petersburg and a few other cities which would effectively be the destruction of the Russian state therefore they have the MAD umbrella.

If Russia keeps advancing, Twump gets no rare earths.

Bad news. May as well be Putin in the oval office

Donald Trump has paused US military aid to Ukraine just days after his row with President Zelenskyy, according to US media reports.

The pause will last until the president believes Ukraine's leaders have shown a good faith commitment to peace, according to Bloomberg and Fox News.

But would the UK and France be able to launch their missiles before they were hit by the Russian missiles and would enough of their missiles get past the Russian anti-missile defence system to destroy the Russian state.

The scenario I have in mind is one of a limited nuclear war, i.e. retaliation for the destructions of one NATO city with the destruction of a Russian city of equivalent value but probably not against Moscow because NATO would still need to be able to negotiate with the Russian government in the hope of preventing all-out nuclear war.

Someone should give Ukraine a nuclear weapon

Hit by Russian missiles? Have you learned nothing in the last 3 years? The Ukraine strike deep in Russia at will and there's nothing that can stop refinery hits from homemade drones. Russia have little to nothing in air defences. I'm pretty sure that advanced European weapons will have no problem with hitting their intended targets.

If ever such a stupid series of events unfolded, I'm sure the Russians would brag about intercepting them with their strategically placed cities though.

Did you hear Zelensky's response in interview to comments from that slimeball Lindsey Graham about Zelensky and election.

    He said …

"I can give him the citizenship of Ukraine,"

"He will become a citizen of our country, and then his voice will gain weight. And I will hear him as a citizen of Ukraine on the topic of who must be the president."

The recent the Rest is Politics episode brought up the likelihood that Turkey will be willing to play a big role in assisting and supplying Ukraine. They've been happily smashing Russian proxies in Libya for years, and have excellent drones and an experienced military.

There was also a wild speculation that China ought to offer Ukraine a deal for say 25% of their resources, in exchange for support. Be a perfect moment to try and undercut the US.

Putin has claimed the worst thing in the 20th century was end of Soviet Union.

He wants it back, he already has many of the ex Soviet states in his pocket, Belarus being a prime example.

He did have Ukraine when he had puppets like Yanukovych, but then along came people like Poroshenko.

    He totally under estimated Zelensky.

He probably figured he would leg it, Kyiv would fall and he would put a puppet back in.

And if he had he would have taken Moldova and probably the Baltic states by now.

This is what's going to happen at some point if this keeps up. "Peace Through Superior Firepower" isn't a euphamism, it's literally the only thing vainglorious little shítstains like Putin fear because it inflicts consequences he cannot ignore, escape or run from.

As for "President Krasnov" I think the only way to make that Orange Bollocks back down is for Europe to retaliate on him and expecially his closest friends big time, really should look at sanctioning or severely tariffing his business interests. This orange bastard is an enemy of Europe.

It is a matter of (relatively short) time until they withdraw from NATO.

It's how he gets things done. Zelensky is happy with the mineral deal, it's all agreed on by both parties, sign it, a first step towards peace. Zelensky can't be cutting off his nose to spite his face at this point in the game.

Of course we'd have to work on security deals afterwards, but they were not tied to this deal, it's for another day.

Trump seems to think he's gonna live till he's 120 and be the president until then, wave this shiny mineral deal in his face and he will strut around chest out even though it would be 5+ years before any mining begins, how about all the demining that will have to happen, yeah have some American contractors lose limbs to some of Putins toys.

It's the same with apples 500billion plan....yet to start sometime in the future, or bring chip making back from Taiwan oh yeah that will be up and running in a few months. For me it's a countdown till the orange knob is in the ground

Bloomberg reports that the pause applies to all US military equipment not currently in Ukraine and that this includes weapons in transit on aircraft and ships or waiting in transit areas in Poland.

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/live/2025/mar/03/us-politics-live-news-donald-trump-tariffs-canada-mexico-announced-commerce-secretary

Very serious. I don't see what moves Ukraine has now. They need to take Trump's deal.

    Peace my hole.

What does Zelensky and Ukraine get, a kick in the nuts?

He can't trust Trump and a ceasefire without a guarantee of some security from likes of US or Europe is about as much use as an umbrella in a hurricane.

Trump is doing whatever Putin wants.

He disregarded his own security advisors years ago and sided with Putin.

He is basically p**ing all over his own military and security apparatus by getting into bed with Putin.

I actually think Putin really needs the war to end, or more correctly the current stage of it so that he can rearm, to go again in a few years.

Yes his military are very slowly making gains, the North Koreans haven't supposedly really worked out, and it is a bit of a meat grinder.

The losses are huge and he can only cover these up for so long, when the guys are coming from small towns in Siberia or central Asia. If they come from the major cities in European Russia it would be harder to hide.

Better still than just ceasefire of sorts, his orange gimp forces Zelensky out, forces election in Ukraine that Putin can try and rig to get a friendly guy into power.

If you really think the whole war is about minerals then you have paid zero attention to Putin for the last 10 years plus

Good luck with that. Europe is a clown show. We are still trying to use the EU as an aid mechanism only to have everything slowed or stopped by Putin's agent within the EU.

It's not really surprising that the US is cutting all ties with us. We are a laughing stock.

It's looks inevitable Ukraine will have to accept a deal mainly in favour of Putin if not all in his favour .It was always possible that Trump would side with Putin but now that it has actually happened it really is sickening. Can't really see Europe making up the difference that Ukraine needs .
