At least one Donald likes him
They weren't in remotely the same situation.
Trump pre-planned this. No amount of ring-kissing was going to stop what we just saw today.
Zelensky it his credit did not punch the fuxker there and then, incredible self restraint
He also ran circles around him verbally despite English not being his language
But seeing markets are continuing to freefall I suspect not long before Trump gets his ass slapped around by the markets
It is not Zelenskyy's fault, or any failure by him. To imply it is is unfair.
This is just what the USA is now under this admin. , and it is really, really ugly.
They don't want to support Ukraine any more and it looks like they won't, even if paid handsomly to do so, like a mercenary or a hired thug.
Putin must offer more I suppose.
If it's any consolation I'd say the Russians are as wary of Trump as the rest of us. From what you read they worry him to be a loose cannon and what may seem favourable now could turn just like that. Putin himself even said it before the US election that while Biden is openly hostile he is at least a calculable factor like that.
FWIW while I agree with many of Trumps points and I also agree that Zelenksy seems to be still in cloud cuckoo land with the way he thinks about the war and possible outcomes - the way this was done was disgraceful. Disagreements like this can happen but then they must happen behind closed doors and then you can come out saying there are still differences to be ironed out, but it should not happen before the press. You do not to try to humiliate someone like that, Trump did himself no favours here at all.
For me, Zelenskyy can hold his head high for how he conducted himself. A strong leader who defended himself and his country in that farce of a meeting.
#TeamZelensky
American is every bit as untrustworthy than Russia. You can't trust America again even if a Democrat becomes President.
How is Europe upping it's militarisation not going to help Ukraine? It could lead to supplying them more weapons and support...?
Exactly.
They had picked their side already and were going to humiliate him whether he signed the deal or not.
This is a bad day for Ukraine , Europe and also for the US whether they realize it or not .
They have elected a president and vice who live on conspiracy theories and social media who can only grasp facts if fed to them in an egocentric MAGA sycophantic way .
There is no intelligence , diplomacy or even basic decency in that office anymore .
Well at least Trump might get something nice said to him by Andrew Tate.
Time for Merz & Macron to take centre stage. Trump attempted to sideline Europe now they need to do the same in return. Merz is preoccupied with coalition talks. But it’s the perfect time to secure a bolder direction for the incoming German government in the negotiations with the SPD. If these two lead the rest of the EU (sans Orban & Fico) will follow. More weapons, more money, more infrastructure/capacity support, more everything. And stop tap dancing around Trump’s ego. If things need to be said then say them.
They can compare sexual assault stories. Vermin the pair of them
I said that all along but nobody here would even entertain that. All up in their US & Ukraine admiration mode.
America has interests and thats that. All their talk about democracy and values is just talk you can never trust their motives. Ukraine was just a pawn in their chess game like countless other pawns before. And it suited certain powers in Ukraine and they thought they could poke the bear. But it was insanity from the start and it cost Ukraine dearly and Zelensky will have to live with that and will ultimately have to answer for that. I feel so sorry for the people there. As usual its the ordinary folks who have to pay for all this grandstanding power hungry nonsense of so called leaders.
America can go **** itself
Today was a day of infamy.
There will be ex-military service personal throughout the USA who will know what Ukraine is going through.
Add to that Trumps tariff induced recession will rouse the politically apathetic.
Which is encouraging and all, but Europe now needs to step up dramatically in actions. The Atlantic alliance is over.
Besides the Ukrainian nationalists, Europe (EU + Britain) are going to experience severe consequences of losing the war. Europe is starved of cheap resources (rare earths, fertile land, and cheap Russian gas). It is de-industrialising as a consequence of its obsession with net zero carbon/green deal economic central planning. It is militarily depleted. In addition populations across Europe increasingly seethe at the liberal EU establishment.
I imagine the current American administration see these as positives! They make Europe weaker for the coming trade war. This may well set the EU and Britain on more direct conflict with Russia.
Don’t disregard the Atlantic just yet.
I’d say we can still count on Canada.
Oh very much so. With Russians I know, at first they were dubious about Trump, but thought he'd be more "Russia friendly" to keep votes back home, but over the last week or so(and unlike most online simpbots) I've been surprised to find they've very much switched to WTF around Trump and even more set on no concessions. Like you I suspect the Kremlin are just as WTF with this loose cannon. They may chuckle at today's fiasco simply because Zelensky's their enemy, but I again suspect even Russians will be wondering WTF over the bar-room impulsive impropriety of the Trump/Vance tag team. These are not people anyone would be comfortable with negotiating, including Putin.
This will also show Zelensky's true support at home even for MAGA naysayers(well maybe not most of them. Imho the vast majority left backing him are absolute morons pickled in ignorance). If there is any magically hidden genuine opposition he's gone.
Now if I were China, this right now is the time when I'd step forward and say "we'd like to help over negotiations". I'd reckon Russia(obvs) and even Ukraine and the EU might be more amenable these days, because the carrot combover in the White House simply can't be trusted on anything from one day to the next. At least we got to see in real time how this very good salesman to rubes ended up bankrupting nearly all his businesses including a casino.
To iterate a point I made earlier Russia's economy is probably now smaller than Spain's. What firepower it had was mostly leftover Soviet era stock and now they're sending donkeys to the front.
Trump is a cult that destroying the USA.
who’s this whack job on Sky right now?
If anything this will make Europe stronger.
Expect multi trade deals between Europe and other non US countries. Eg Canada for one.
Is USA & Russia not a bit like once sworn enemies Fianna Fáil and fine Gael cosying up together for personal financial gains for themselves and their friends ?
Lindsey fu@kface Graham rep senator
Interior Ministry Colonel in charge of combating economic crime and corruption in Russia is found dead in his office shot by his own pistol. Corruption in Russia. Dangerous job.

I think that in time you will come to realise that it was your Commander in Chief who needed to handle that better. And America has lost a lot more than Ukraine possibly losing a war.
Vance is really trying too hard, doesn't he know he's a few wrong words away from being Mike Pence II?
I hope that whenever a peace agreement eventually is agreed that the signing does not take place in Washington (or anywhere in the US).
There were 3 starting points in this-
Vance is an ignorant bastard. HE is the one that was being disrespectful, arguing in public like some drunk in an alleyway. Appalling.
If the US can vote in Trump, I wouldn’t be surprised if Vance takes over next!
