I think it will be FF/FG again with god knows who. Hopefully a left wing party
It will be November 15th
You implied it. Nice to see the other smaller parties turning SF down on a coalition. I'm sure your leader (for now) is fuming up there on the New Cabra Road 😃
The 2007 coalition was formed in less than 2 weeks in time for the meeting of the first Dail. It had 3 parties and the support of several independents.
It completely undermines any rubbish about the dangers of Trump the media kept talking about.
FO'T is very cross with us today.
We are just stupid! That's the only possible explanation. He's warned us so many times but we keep doing the same thing.
It must be galling for him after he spent his entire life working to destroy Fianna Fáil. He thought the job was oxo years ago but here they come again, like Freddie on Elm Street. Soon, a zombie John Charles McQuaid will escape from Fintan's nightmares.
And it's all our fault!

86 is too many seats for it to work for SD or Labour, they probably won't go into coalition IMO.
When you consider the fact that loads of Independents are likely to consistently back the government whether they're officially in the government or not it would be impossible for the SDs or Labour to have any sort of influence if they were to go in. Too easy for them to be ignored.
Independents the only show in town now I reckon.
The reason they moved back to Friday is for counting. It's very hard to get people to stay on for counting on Monday and Tuesday. Most counting is complete by Sunday late. It was a problem this year with the European elections Trying to get people to count the votes on weekdays
Every time I hear this idea of a united left I`m reminded of Brendan Behan`s remark that the first item on any republican agenda is the split.
I doubt you could even get those on the left into a room together, let alone get agreement on an agenda.
I think he was getting to grips with Health and was the best I can remember. You could see his management consultancy background, he was starting to get under the bonnet and drill down into the figures and compare resources allocated to the various hospitals with outcomes. He was making noises about extending the Monday- Friday 9-5 working day. I may be wrong but is he responsible for getting the consultants to work over the weekend? He was starting to try and drag some efficiencies out of it. I think it's a shame he's gone. We'll have someone new starting all over again who's time will be up by the time they start to make any sense of it.
Just 2 of the 11 Labour TDs are women. About 18%.
Given that Ivana Bacik was one of the first to call for gender quotas a few years ago, this must be deeply embarrassing.
There us too many of them completly into idealogy and not willing to compromise. It's annissue with the SD's, they were founded by two people who walked from the labour party when the going got tough.
RTE referring to Fianna Fail and Fine Gael as "centrist parties".
Personally I believe they’re chuffed with 11 TDs. Increased their number despite losing some high profile TDs this time.
After the ignominy for supporters of FG having to coalesce with FF and vice versa it will be funny to see them underwrite the conscription of ‘I fixed the road’ independents that they routinely demean, just to stay in power. Fun times ahead.
That Is what they are in many countries they earn be described as left of center.
Even in their short history as a party they have a bit of a history doing in the same.
Shortall was chairperson The Committee on the Future of Healthcare that produced the Slaintecare Report, but in 2020 when the SD`s had the opportunity to enter government and get the Health ministry they ran a mile.
As I said, do a little research, just a little
Yes he is not replaced until the next government is formed. Same as after the 2020 GE Shane Ross et-al ran there departments until the new government was formed. That the process
Is there any reason why they wouldn't?
I am clearly better versed in Irish history than yourself
Who else is going to do the job?
Hoping FF/FG cobble something with independents, just to see Alan Kelly and Bacik sulking in opposition. They are virtually begging to be taken into the government fold, probably both of their last chance at a ministerial position.
So FFFG finish with a combined 86, could see them getting a few Independents or even talk to Ind Ireland, they really don't need the 11 that SD or LAB have. Even if they end up doing a deal with LAB, they have the leverage.
You keep telling yourself that
Ignornace is bliss
Maybe that free second level education that FF introduced in the 1960 was wasted
Did you miss out on that?
That’s s Sherlock and O’Riordan against going in with FG FF
It's your biggest fear. A left alliance is in a perfect place for the next election.
You mean an alliance between, SF, SD, Lab, Greens, PBP and probably some Ind, good luck getting a program for government agreed.
They actually have plenty in common. Reaching a common ground is not outrageous. If they form a pact and attack FFG from opposition, pointing out how ffg govern for the well off, they will be in a great position. A credible alternative.
FF FG independents government increases the chances of one of the big two or both on a really bad day being decimated. If one of them were, the powershare is over…kaput. That’s why I suspect they’ll make eyes at Labour as another Green sarcrificial lamb.
People are dilluded
There are too many independents
The vote is too split
They don't have the numbers of candidates running to get the numbers for government, all their do is cannibalize the same votes and go up or down
FF aren't the kingmaker's, they are the kings in this instance!
With the sheer number of TDs every party was proposing there were loads of routes for SF to come to power without any help from a civil war party. The electorate decided they want FFG in power however
I'm only using simple maths to come to these conclusions
