Indeed, they've been quiet a few times already, only letting it be known afterwards.

This time, with this issue, I suspect they announced it beforehand so that they could get ahead of Putin's narrative.

In 2014 they (NATO, the West) were behind Russia in regards to the chess game, with Putin running rings around them. Since then they seem to have improved a lot.

I think they do it to appease Putin. It allows him to move valuable assets like fighter jets and helis out of harms way. The US can say we done you a favour so don't react.

But judging by these deep sea cables that might be the reaction.

we are already at war . Hybrid war. Russia is flat out attacking our democracies and information sphere. And it is insidious and deadly serious as we can see the devastating results in the US and UK voting in ridiculous politicians .
A physical conventional war between NATO and Russia would actually be much more straightforward as it would remove any shadow of a doubt even to the most feeble minded of the intentions of Putin.

Back to the battle field. Looks like those rumors about Chasiv Yar a couple of days ago were indeed correct.

How do I know what? Please be precise on your understandings as I think we might have a moment of enlightenment for you.

Of course. Using Iranian missiles and North Korean troops and targeting civilian infrastructure in Ukraine is somehow to be expected, but Ukraine striking back against military targets within Russia is a "dangerous escalation". Absolutely pathetic

Yeah. After shock at the motherland being hit by evil US missiles, scurrying back to the comfort of Ukrainian territory losses I see.

    We see you :)

I don’t think so, I think it’s done to as a way of making a fool out of Putin because it makes everyone appear like responsible adults while Putin constantly has to draw red lines and contradict himself and go back, it also exposes his lies

We are a stage where whatever Russians say everyone just laughs at them because they are clowns and not serious people

And it constantly reminds Putin that he only has two options, back down or escalate, except Putin can’t escalate any more as we are now at point where any escalation could end in disaster for Putin and Russia

1000 days of war crimes and when Ukraine fights back the Russians are whining like babies. What kind of infantile mentality do these people have?

It looks like history is starting up again.

Ukraine would have known a while ago that permission was coming so they were ready. Targets mapped, correct tire pressure, tank full, flask of coffee and off we go.

It looks like history is starting up again.

It's more likely now but Taurus is ideal for that or American missiles they'd not sent yet either.

Two nuclear weapons developed by Ukraine could take out nearly the entire population of Russia.

Seems strange then Putin decided to wage war on Ukraine when retaliation could mean just two bombs could take out nearly all their eggs in the one basket. Looking at that Russia seems very vulnerable and foolish with their threats.

As a large farmer it's akin to putting all your poultry in one large shed and another smaller shed instead of having different farms and different sheds. Only makes sense when you are a despot trying to control two centres. But you've left yourself open to just destruction of two centres in Russia having the disastrous outcome.

Ukraine has neither nuclear weapons nor the ability to deliver them.

Are you saying that a preemptive strike would disable Russia completely?

Theyre well into production, or already sitting on a few by now.

Takes about 6 months to make one if you have all the prerequisites. Ukraine checks all boxes.

(so id be more surprised if they didnt make them)

At least according to that ass-hat Peter Zeihan.

It’s actually worse than that, a single nuclear explosion in low earth orbit on a sub orbital trajectory could:

    1. Create an EMP that would take out the European portion of Russian power grid where most of the population lives, Ukraine won’t be as affected as they don’t have much of a grid left and can shut down in advance
    2. Cause zero radioactive fallout and blast destruction which is what people fear most about nukes but cause enough damage to send a country back a couple of centuries without electricity

They have the rockets and the plutonium, 10kt detonation at 100km attitude would have an EMP radius of 474km

Consequences of such an EMP are examined in detail in this book (over continental US)

For those interested in history here is an interesting read

I have no idea who Peter Zeihan is, but he is almost certainly wrong.

Having nuclear power plants and being able to make nuclear weapons are completely different things.

so the Russians should wrap everything in tin foil to protect from the emp. Instead of making hats out of it.

They do indeed. However, I would say that the US and to some extent the UK and French anti submarine submarines have trailed them in order to take most of them out in the event.

Ive no source that states Ukraine has a nuclear weapon.

I also have no source that states Israel has a nuclear weapon.

I've read and watched a lot of stuff about this, best case scenario (to be the best of my knowledge) is still too many functioning nukes launched from Russia's end. Unless US/NATO/Europe has some tricks up their sleeve, then it's a very bad scenario, especially for Europe.

There was The Times article posted only few days ago here claiming Ukraine has 7 tons of plutonium and the rockets and drones to deliver this to quote “in a few months”

Here is the leading article titled “The Nuclear Option”
