I wonder how this will work out for him

I imagine because of this case our contempt laws will probably be updated.
Law Reform has been calling for it for decades.
As odious as he is, no one should be locked up indefinitely without a trial.
Apart from that it is exactly what he wants, or his abusive family want.
He will remain in jail until he purges his contempt whether it's 6 months or 20 years. Contempt is a direct challenge to democracy and there is no get out of jail free card. The longest case was 14 years I think and they were released on some kind of probation as the had reached the age of 68 (it's a while so the details might not be 100%). But Burke is young so he could beat that.
"Solicitor Ammi Burke has been ordered to pay the legal costs incurred in the Court of Appeal by the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) and her former employer Arthur Cox.
Her appeal was dismissed last April, with the Court of Appeal finding the High Court had been justified in throwing out her judicial review mid-hearing when faced with Ms Burke’s “utterly appalling and egregious” behaviour.
Ms Burke, of Castlebar, Co Mayo, had wanted the courts to overturn the WRC’s rejection of her complaint alleging she was unfairly dismissed in late 2019 from Arthur Cox, where she was a junior associate. The law firm denied unfairly dismissing her.
A WRC adjudicating officer also ceased hearing her complaint amid “sustained and deliberate obstruction and disruptions” by Ms Burke’s mother, Martina Burke.
The Court of Appeal based its recent decision on written submissions after cutting short its oral hearing of Ms Burke’s appeal due to her interruptions.
On Tuesday, the Court of Appeal ruled that she should be liable to pay necessary costs incurred by the WRC and Arthur Cox in successfully fighting her appeal.
It rejected as “misconceived on a fundamental level” Ms Burke’s submissions asking the court to refrain from making a costs order against her.
Her request was based on complaints about how the appeal hearing was conducted and criticisms of the court’s judgment, the judges said.
“An unsuccessful appellant cannot avoid a costs order by impermissibly complaining that the judgment was wrong,” they said.
The court also refused a request from the law firm to mark its disapproval of Ms Burke’s conduct by ordering costs on a “legal practitioner and client” basis, which covers all reasonable costs incurred, even those that were not absolutely necessary.
The judges noted they upheld the High Court’s decision to order Ms Burke to pay the bulk of the High Court costs on this basis.
The Court of Appeal’s disapproval of Ms Burke’s conduct is “clearly evident” from its main judgment so it is unnecessary to mark its disapproval through ordering for costs in this way, particularly when the legal practitioner and client costs for the High Court “are likely to be significantly more substantial”, they said."
The judicial system needs to start hurting this family in the pocket, the state is wasting huge amount of money on their Tom foolery. They need to know there's consequences for their actions.
Actually watching it and 2 things strike me first is it must be awful to have to go through what those people have to and secondly why it would bother anyone else what is going on in other peoples lives and how they are, it makes no sense to me. I don’t really understand transgenderism but I wouldn’t judge anyone on things I don’t understand.
He and his family oppose the concept that transgender people exist, they poo-poo the whole concept as do some posters here with a "it's all in their minds" attitude, that transgender people should accept what nature gave them and keep quiet.
What's this got to do with Enoch though? Nothing...
This is open to deletion by the Mods as it's a form of link-dropping. Virgin 1 has a programme titled Real Life with Lucy on now until 10PM about transgender teens explaining how their life has been since they became aware that they are Transgender people. People have the option to watch it if they choose or leave it at their own choice.
Arthur Cox. But they'd already given her as much PFO money as the WRC were already likely to award her, if she'd actually won her case. She just forgot to do the FO bit 😁
The sister took her case to the WRC when she lost her job in the legal practice, can't recall the Law firms name. She lost the case and went to the courts with her case, think they sided with WRC verdict. It's hard to keep track with them all, the barrister brother is also having a go at the Bar Council, he can't get a senior barrister to take him on to devil for them. Religion is the ruination of that entire family. Soap opera stuff all together, if it was a drama series or movie you would say it's far fetched.
No, not before the WRC. That was Ammi.
Though no doubt he will try that, next.
Does he also have a case with the WRC? It's really very hard to keep a track of all these things.
Even with his case against the appeal panel that's really dragging now.
What should happen next, is his case against the Disciplinary Appeal Panel should be heard by the Court of Appeal. That is all that is holding up the DAP hearing from proceeding. Once it does, and his dismissal from WHS is finalised, his salary will be stopped.
Then, (AFAIK, I am not a legal professional!) if he is released again without purging his contempt, and he ignores the injunction by turning up on the school premises, I believe WHS can call the Gardai and ask for him to be arrested. As he will no longer have any claim of being a WHS employee, it will become a criminal matter, and he can be jailed with a fixed sentence.
He's already way past the "disagreement with the courts" stage about it's orders, which is why he was returned to jail for continuing his contempt of court last week. He stay's there until he tells the court he will obey it's order to stay away from Wilsons Hospital School. One presumes that he will honour his word and do so if the court accepts he will obey the order and orders his release from jail.
FFS stop with the religious clap trap. Its boring and it takes the thread off topic. These trolls know exactly what they are doing. What happens next if he doesn't agree with the court orders?
Hmmm religion or science? Science or religion? Why not have both and join Scientology? 😁
Because ... science :)
Don't believe in trans people, but believe that a wafer can become the body of Jesus and that a cup of wine can become his blood?
The delicious irony of the religious person posting about how they don't believe in trans people.
There seems to be quite a widespread misunderstanding (amongst some) around the fact that sex and gender are not the same thing.
With, one presumes, a blessed blessing. As the sacrament of marriage is an organised religious rite from a later era, one would hope the Burkes could see and accept there were no such things as out of wedlock offspring back then. Arguing with the almighty would be so NAFF.
The Bible also says that Adam and Eve had two children Cain and Abel. It doesn’t explain what happened next. I hope the Burkes do not have their own interpretation.
It's my impression that the Burkes do not see the difference between other persons sex and gender as they see it through an ancient mental historical religious perspective. That is where their position is where it comes to other persons gender identity. There is no acceptance of the other person having a gender identity outside what the Burkes say it is. By all appearances, to them Genesis 27 says it all. So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. You could talk to them ad infinitum about the difference and they would call you satanic, the same way Mrs Burke called the judge in the High Court.
I'm not Catholic.
We're probably going way off topic here but with biological sex we've a robust evidence base it exists, that there's only 2 sexes (there is a tiny group of people where there is some ambiguity over what their sex is but they are not a third sex), it's independently verifiable, and we know you can't change sex. This is the opposite of gender in that its evidence base isn't robust, there are multiple genders, you can't independently verify someone's gender (people have to tell you) and you change your gender, you can change your gender regularly, and you can change your gender to have no gender.
This isn't to say that you shouldn't respect everyone's gender or how they identify, as you should, but to paraphrase sex and gender really are very different.
Off topic, but a response to your post:
Nitpick: Gender dysphoria is categorised as an illness. See mayoclinic.org for the source of the information below. You are of course quite correct in stating that it is not an ideology nor is it a belief system. However, it is an illness.
This in no way is to disrespect any person who is transgender; as mayoclinic.org points out, some transgender people may experience dysphoria at some point in their lives.
I AGREE 👍
Right, back on topic, how many more cycles will there be with Burke being imprisoned & released, imprisoned & released again . . . . . imprisoned.
How long can this go on for, and how will the cycle be stopped?
Catholics believe (or are supposed to) that the host is the actual body of Christ
Science says it's not, DNA says it's not…
I'm wondering why mods aren't pulling this thread back on focus.
It is universally accepted that Burke is not in jail for his beliefs, therefore discussion of those beliefs is wholly irrelevent to this thread. It is interesting (and not a little concerning) to note that there are a number of people who genuinely believe this is a matter of conscience, even though the courts have been explicit on the matter.
Ok, just to spell it out, gender dysphoria is not an ideology nor is it a belief system.
Religion is (can be) an ideology and is a belief system.
Gender dysphoria has a scientific basis.
Well it's a belief system, and you either believe in it & go along with it, or you don't.
