Please use this thread to continue discussing the war in Ukraine.

Original thread:
Situation is still difficult on the ground. But there is no doubt that the proper arrival of a large amount of weaponry is making a difference. Particularly HIMARS and shells.
Situation not not have been this bad or Ukrainians would not have had to retreat in many parts if the US Republicans could just stop acting cnut for two minutes.
I hope the Ukrainians learned the lesson to never again talk things up and paint overly optimistic vistas, all that results is in western countries forgetting just how existential this war is and what major danger to everyone Putler is
Of all the questionable claims that Russia makes, their claims to have massively ramped up artillery production are the most likely. Maybe not quite to the level they claim of 3-4.5m shells per year, and as you say they may be including mortar shells, tank ammo etc, but it is an area where they have the capacity to simply throw money and resources at it and ramp it up.
They seem to do so by having triple shifts at almost western levels of pay, which is a consequence of their war economy. I doubt their claims to be producing the shells for just slightly more than their pre war cost, and in reality they are probably paying way over the odds for them. They are also cutting corners with e.g. lower shelf life products, refurbing old stocks etc, but I suppose that is fine when the need is urgent.
Russian claims are more questionable when it comes to high tech production, but it is plausible, and appears to be evidenced on the ground and not disputed, that their artillery production is massively up.
That said, for all their greater ammunition production it hasnt manifested in significantly better performance than Ukraine on the battlefield, as regards territory or casualties.
I completely disagree, post USSR the soviet era industrial capacity has been completely destroyed in 90s
I even linked to 40-50 page report earlier in thread going into detail into just how bad things got
And we are seeing it on the battlefields in drone footage day after day, ever older tanks or assaults in golf buggies and motorcycles, that’s not a country whose industrial capacity is churning out even 1/100th of what they claim
No point in millions of shells without the artillery pieces to fire them.
We've seen AFU effectively use drones to kill Rus artillery pieces by the thousands.
What's been happening with the glide bombs? Talk about them seems to have ramped down significantly in the last couple of weeks, but I don't know if that's because Ukraine has been more successful in chasing the Russian planes responsible or if it's just that other stories have taken precedence.
This is interesting, wonder can it be verified.
long time coming eh. I remember a year ago talking about when these jets would arrive and when they would be operational.
the next phase of the war is going to be interesting.
A good hit apparently
Saw that one of Putin's many Dachas was hit by a missile. One down many more to go.
Some unbiased commentary below. The happy propaganda on here paints a completely different position to the realities on the ground

linkdump. Can you please summarize? Who is the commentator?
Without even looking at the link I'm guessing it's Austrian military dude who has been predicting Ukraine's collapse for the last 2 years.
Markus Reisner
this means that the areas where Putin can hide has been reduced. I doubt if he will be overnighting in any of his remaining Dachas/residences from now on
Might be a good idea to destroy them one by one. Who knows they might get lucky?
I don't know what you were smoking when you wrote that tripe but it has nothing to do with anything I wrote.
The war is a massive crime by the Russians.
No defeat of them or reparations could ever compensate for the suffering of the Ukrainians.
Those two points aren't hard to understand except to those who actively want to misunderstand
Reliable source for this? Good news if true
Pity Putin was not in residence…..
UAF sending some more the Russians
This guy posts some good stuff

That’s one way to describe the destruction of Putin’s Palace.
Reality on the Russia side . astute comment "moscow dont give a fck". Have a listen
Their industrial capacity dipped massively after the collapse of the Soviet Union. But the defense industries consolidated after that and from the early 2010s on the investment in same was slowly increased.
But in any event, nowhere in my post did I say that the Russian claims about their entire industrial output was believeable. I said that their claims in respect of artillery are more believeable than most of their claims.
This is because they are relatively uncomplicated to manufacture and Russia have an undeniably large amount of artillery ammunition that cant be explained relative to stockpiles or to North Korean imports.
He hasn't been. Realistic assessments are not defeatist assessments. Nothing in that video is wrong, even if it's a bit simplistic to accommodate the civilian audience. It boils down to "Ukraine is pressed, and needs western aid, in numbers". Does anyone disagree with that assessment?
If you don't want to be sent to Ukraine to die. You can now apply to build war drones in a factory in Alabushe. The bonus is you will be married off to an African teenager waiting at the factory for you. Apply now..
Another nice hit
LOL!
