Original thread:
RuZZian stooge Mick Wallace's campaign material arrived today. Slogan is "Good Trouble." He's not worth the sweat off the testicles of the man he's stealing the quote from. Shameless cnut.
Hopefully his constituents are smart enough to not vote for that maggot.
When will governments in the West ever f***in realise: telling Ukraine not to cross certain lines that would provoke Russia does not earn respect and goodwill from Russia, but only contempt. Every single day Russia pushes boundaries, not just in Ukraine but in all of Europe, with sabotage, spying, election meddling, physical violence, etc etc, and it will keep doing so as long as the only response from Europe is impotent expressions of "outrage" rather than hitting back in the same form.
In all the hoopla today about what type of war this it, some major news that Belgium will send 30 F16s over next few years and billions in aid (unlike us in Ireland)
Perhaps there has been a longterm (secret) agreement between Western governments and Russia along those lines.
Whether that was right or wrong it may be that those governments have to respect such an agreement.
Don't forget there must be a hope that some of those around Putin may be amenable to forceful but honest language and may be able to twist Putin's arm(a euphemism I hope) when the time is right.
Interesting-
Didn't the UK already announced that Ukraine can hit Russian targets with their supplied weapons? UK also being a NATO country, same for Estonia, Sweden, Norway etc...
It's only big news if the UK couldn't give Ukraine the greenlight to use storm shadows within Russia as it's a joint venture with France.
This has been gathering momentum for a while now. I don't know if Ukraine got the go-ahead yet. Can't wait to see what happens.
Tide is definitely shifting for sure on using western supplied weapons on Russia soil.
As with everything, artillery, tanks, cruise missiles, fighters.... Just takes one country to change their stance and the rest follow (eventually)
It was a province sundered from Romania by the Soviets in 1940 and then planted by Ruzzian/Soviet settlers. And the Ruzzians, in their usual manner, after Moldavia got its independence, decided to cut a chunk off it, occupy it and declare a spurious ''independence'' recognized by practically nobody.
Ah these are the republicans I remember, looks like they finally realised that Russia is not particularly highly regarded by most of the population
It certainly needs to be happen but the next key thing is to make sure they have enough of the long range weapons needed. Otherwise it'll just be another of the false dawn "game changers" of which there have been many now. I certainly don't think it'll drive Russia from the stolen territories, but it will be a help. Protection for the skies would be an even bigger help
So Trumps plan to end the war in one day is to bomb Moscow... well that might end a lot of things in one day alright.
Of course it is all lies / playing to the gallery in front of him whatever will get a reaction.
Perhaps Europe can put pressure on China to put manners on Russia.
If they ,China act in an unfriendly way towards Europe then we could punish them in a recoprocal fashion.
Russia has invaded a sovereign country on our border and what has the Chinese government done to either prevent the attack on the first place or support Ukraine ever since?
jake sullivan quinched that very fast
nice
@patnor1011 threadbanned
up till now the conversation has been around we should be happy with Putin because his replacement - whenever- probably will be a lot worse. What has changed in your opinion
I note that Putin has threatened UKr - with severe consequences- if the ‘West ‘ allows it to use its weapons to bomb/attack targets on Russian land.
So to continue the ‘war of words’ strategy , why not the following words from the UKr side - for whatever reason !!!!!!!!! (1). Tell Ru that if it bombs civilian targets again that it can expect severe consequences at a TIME OF OUR CHOOSING
(2) we note that you are buying/ getting arms from China, North Korea and Iran and using them on our sacred soil. You, Putin , and these supporters will suffer the consequences in due course
Definitely useful
Make it so
Denmark earlier (where the hq of Europeans largest company mysteriously went on fire)
now Poland
I guess Germany, Italy and US are waiting until Russians carry out terrorist and arson attacks in their countries
That's the standard modus operandi alright. Speaking of which, we must be due a "what can we do to help Ukraine with its shortage of conscripts" post soon.
Belgium giving 30 F-16s to Ukraine. Ireland's inability to give any military support is a huge embarrassment.
if that happens then should China North Korea and Iran , for starters, experience the same fate. Re Serbia, Hungry and Turkey helping Russia in any way - militarywise
The lying, tax dodging, elitist, failed property developer who liked to swan around his vineyards in Italy? I've seen those posters. And people will lap it up. It's a damning indictment of the intelligence of the average citizen that he was ever elected in the first place. A lot of people need to take a good look in the mirror before having a cut off de gubermint for the state of the country.
Belgium's history of military conquest and interference in sovereign nations is a huge embarrassment. Ireland can contribute to a push back against the rise of fascism and populism in plenty of other ways. The answer isn't always arm ourselves to the teeth.
Think they'd be better off with repurposed Russian equipment seeing as we can barely supply our own defence forces.
Seriously, that's just not our gig. Ever. We did supply medical and de-mining equipment though, which is fair enough.
I think we can do more, much more, from specialist treatment of wounded here to recovery and psychological help to training to providing more medical supplies and maybe directly paying wages of a brigade or two
These guys are putting the lives on the line to kill actual real to god Nazis and protect our cushy pampered Western European rears
The anti europe crowd always goes one about European conscription and all that but what they think would happen if the Nazis win
I wonder what he means by short range weapons?
Just allow them to use long range patriot missiles within Russia. It would be far more effective. We've seen how effective patriot can be at preventing Russia launching glide bombs.
Again the tools are there if the west allow it. I don't even think Ukraine received any long range IRIS-T missiles, then again zero chance Germany would allow Ukraine use them to down bombers over Russia.
