You thinking of the US economy which is growing 5.2% a quarter (they added third of total Russian fictional GDP in 3 months for real) and the inflation is a result of this strong growth and low unemployment (and pentup demand from COVID)
Russia in other hand is a basketcase with a long long history of bullshit economic and military figures (just look at USSR)
Just checked my pension and stock portfolio, up 15-20% on last year by investing in European and US companies, so one can get a high rate of return without risking losing your money to Putin 😀
Endless in the sense that the glide kits are the limiting factor, not the dumb bombs they are attached to.
Between different sizes and types Russia have stockpiles of hundreds of thousands of these bombs, maybe over a million. They stockpiled them throughout the cold war in the numbers they would need for a WWII style heavy bomber campaign. The FAB-500 M62 for example dates to 1962.
If they are dropping 'only' 100 per day then their stockpile will last decades.
Yeah I remember the posters early this year (mostly either banned or disappeared by now) saying US would never abandon Ukraine and will stick with the country till Russia is fully defeated and anyone who doesn't agree is spreading Russia propaganda... The noises being made right now are quite depressing and will merely encourage Putin to hang in there. Ever more EU countries saying no more weapons to Ukraine (disgraceful) and US aid looking increasingly fragile. It would be a massive historical stain on the West if it doesn't keep up the support
Most of them get threadbanned sooner or later. What I find ironic is how this habit of slandering anyone who wants a more objective discussion as a "foreign/Putin agent" is exactly the kind of thing Russia does to stifle debate, these posters have more in common with a society like that than with an open, democratic society like Ukraine wants to be
Why do you only snipe at certain posters or themes? You've definitely mastered the free speech martyr shtick.
Exactly. Russia is currently taking huge sums from their reserves to cover huge increases in military spending. On top of that they are exporting less and paying more for imports. Then there's the small matter of 300k dead men, many more injured and hundreds of thousands more being paid a fortune to die on the frontlines.
Of course with all this spending your economy will appear to be growing but in reality you're killing yourself long term. We're nearly at 2 years of this. Things won't look so pretty after year 4 or 5.
That's a shame. So again it goes back to western fighter jets and more patriots being the only way to stop these coming non stop.
Yes, it's a slow bleed. If the war goes on long enough they'll run out of money to prosecute the war. Some estimates suggest that will happen by 2025 at the latest
Putin is banking on the west forcing Ukraine into accepting a negotiated settlement before that happens. He knows Russia can't win outright, but it seems to me he is relying on the Stalin doctrine in the hope Ukraine can't win either. The strategy seems to be to tie up Ukranian troops in certain sectors, not with a view to winning a strategic victory but to get Ukranians bogged down so they can't deploy enough resources elsewhere to push their advance. It doesn't matter to him how many troops he loses in the process. No country in the west would get away with such reckless disregard for the lives of their soliders. I suppose it's just further proof of the total control Putin has in Russia at the moment.
They don't have to be extremely accurate but 1000kg of high explosives hitting a trench or buildings or vehicles will do a serious amount of damage and so far they are proving to be pretty lethal to the Ukrainian positions, they still have medium and heavy bombers capable of dropping a lot more these 4 of these Bombs at a time,
Western jets won't change what's happening on the ground, especially not in small numbers ,the Ukrainian Airforce said they need hundreds of F16s ,they are getting roughly 60 if even that the Dutch still hasn't committed to sending 42 that zelensky claims were promised to him ,
What needed isn't western aircraft,it's people on the ground capable of making a coherent plan to take back Ukrainian territories and people on the ground capable of putting that plan into action from commanders to NCOs and platoon leaders, and forces properly equipped to fight, and not forces left to beg for donations on social media
Oil is also down to $70 (notice how it’s priced in US dollars) a barrel
With India and China paying well below the market rate with documented disputes with Indians who don’t want to pay the discounted prices in Yuan and instead use UAE dinners which is basically a currency pegged to dollar protected by US as an ally
Do you have any evidence of Russian heavy bombers being anywhere near Ukrainian borders and hence vulnerable to anti air?
Only evidence is them shooting off cruise missiles from hundreds of kilometres away around the Volga and from Black Seas
Absolutely no mention of the EU in the article. It seems to read more like it was a deal done between the US and south Korea possibly to backfill US stock while US stock was sent to Ukraine.
Just for the sake of factual accuracy, as my previous post was removed;

And on the idea that we should laugh at the idea of Russian intermeddling in western political affairs;

Sanctions are a very slow process, but they do work. They eventually took down SA's apartheid government after more than a decade.
Probably still waiting for the EU delivery I'm sure South Korea will step in with another 300,000
Breaking News
Vladimir Putin to run for president again...
Colour me shocked! Shocked I tell you! :D
I see in the same Sky News feed that Medvedev is pulling the Nuclear War card again. How many times has he done that so far? Losing count now…
What I would add is that in March they were making 20 UPMKs per day, now they are seemingly making as many as 100. In Mar they could carry 2 on a Sukhoi, now they carry 4. In March they were unreliable (failing to open wings etc), now they seem to have that sorted.
So there's a clear trend of improvement. Therefore it would be dangerous to assume the accuracy will always be poor. Over the next 12 months I would expect to see improved accuracy, improved range (maybe via an aerodynamic fairing) and maybe even laser guided variants. And of course they are expected to make the kit for a wider range of bombs including 1500kg bombs.
If they are not working, then why are sanctions removal top of the list before any "peace" talks can even begin, according to Putin's spokespersons / proxies? No, they are working fine. even if it is not at 100%.
Well exactly, but notable that and the ask for some kind of clarification was just ignored to move onto the next fatalistic talking point.
Well from what my friends in Russia are telling me, the sanctions are working for sure. No one blaming Putin of course, but life is becoming increasing harder for ordinary Russians in many different ways. From the rising inflation, shortages of goods (especially the quality goods that they once had from the west) and just generally, the deteriorating quality of life.
Yes, and the sanctions against Putin are continually being tightened up. Electronic parts taken from drones etc. proven to have originated in the west, are under investigation, and are being shut down, but it will take time. The Nr of incidents of aircraft failing, and being grounded is on the increase, especially with Boeing, as genuine parts for their aircraft can only be supplied direct from them. And on it goes, until Putin's piggy bank is empty.
EU continues to fight Russian propaganda
https://euvsdisinfo.eu/report/anglo-saxons-turn-europe-into-the-4th-reich
Under the watchful eye of the Anglo-Saxons, Europe is being turned into a 4th Reich.
Their main idea is to turn Europe into one enormous defence factory, where disillusioned citizens manufacture ammunition and, after work, engage in shooting practice and five-minute sessions of hatred towards Russia. A unified army, a single military-industrial complex, and a unified ideology, based on fear and hatred of [Russia], all aimed at massive preparations for an offensive in the East. Find ten differences with the Nazi regime. There was a 'Garden of Eden,' and now there will be a Fourth Reich." The impoverished Europeans will really have nothing left but war with Russia. This is exactly how London and Washington acted in the 1930s to pit Germany against the Soviet Union.
🤣
There's been some suggestions they could add a rocket motor to to give them a massive increase in range too at some point,
every time he gets drunk, and he gets drunk so often...
Sanctions must have 3 main effects at least , namely:-
(1) if you want a replacement from ‘under the counter ‘ you will have to pay more as the power is with the seller
(2) the quality of the replacement will normally be of a spurious quality
(3) do without the items you want to replace - hence reduction in quality of lifestyle, etc
obviously a combination of the above is also on
the Overall effect of the sanctions is that ‘running the economy’ becomes more expensive , quality of imports is poorer, imports take longer to be supplied and some item s will have to be done without and finding overseas buyers for exports will be ‘ more challenging’ as it will be A BUYERS MARKET’

They'd need about 200 to do everything they need but 20 would be enough to Push the Russian jets back far enough where they'd be out of range to drop glide bombs. If they were to persist you'd find some would start getting shot down.
Same goes for more patriots. If they had another 4 or 5 systems they could spare one closer to the front to target these jets effectively.
In the early 2000s NPO Bazalt (Russian weapons manufacturer) showed various concepts of a glide addon kit. The JDAM had come into service recently so it was their proposed answer. One of the designs they showed had a pulse jet. It probably wouldn't sustain level flight (or for long) but dropped from altitude the pulse jet would give it extended range, and for pretty cheap.
They never went into production and I don't think the modern UPMK has anything to do with the Bazalt designs other than being a similar idea.
Bazalt went on to make dedicated glide-bombs (not retro-fits) but i'm not sure if they were manufactured in number or used in Ukraine yet. Once again they have been talking about a pulse-jet variant so it seems to be something that Bazalt are keen on reviving. It would be crazy to see (and hear) pulse-jets on the battlefield again.
Yes, that's what the US promised back then, and now they have other concerns (Elections. Israel / Palestine etc.) so there's some changes, but long term, they will fulfill their promises, and it's not like they have just cut off all aid, like closing a door shut. That has not happened, they are still sending aid, even if it's at a reduced rate. When things settle down again, it will be business as usual because for all the Ho0 HaH (especially from the Republicans) about the billions of aid being sent to Ukraine, strictly speaking that's not true. The Billions being spent is mostly being spent in the US, in replacing Munitions, Tanks, Radleys etc. that would be due (or even overdue), and even Republicans will feel the backlash if there are any reductions in spending, jobs etc. in Republican districts. This is something that Republicans conveniently forget in their anti-Biden / Democrat tales. Cash wise, there's nothing like tghe billions claimed.
And all of which is happening in Putin's Russia.
