I know many people who didnt get covid. Therefore your logic is wrong and what you think of as 'evidence' is not scientific evidence is nothing more than unscientific personal anecdote.
That study doesnt show people got covid as an infection. It shows they were exposed. You have no standing to make the claims you are making based on the study.
No such thing was known about masks. These canards have been thoroughly discredited on the masks thread. The scientific consensus in masks establishes their role in reducing transmission. In contrast you offer nothing except anecdote and insult.

When Covid was new, we didn't know exactly what it was, but it was spreading and people were dying. We knew it was respiratory and discovered it chiefly spread via aerosols and droplets exhaled from our nostril and mouth (which we later confirmed). Masks were obviously a no-brainer. A piece of cloth people can wear with low consequences that reduced spread (people in Asia have been wearing masks for decades due to pollution and various outbreaks).
As time went on, we generally kept mask rules because with reduced spread it meant reduced cases which was critical at a time when hospitals were coming under massive pressure from the sheer volume of cases.
Masks did make a difference. Flu almost disappeared in the same time-frame due to the same measures, it also make a quick return as soon as the measures were lifted.
Now we have vaccines, boosters, resistances, weaker variants, a high understanding of the disease, excellent treatment - we can operate without masks
Have the people you know who say they didn't have COVID been tested for antibodies to it? Not a PCR test, not antigen, an antibody test, one which distinguishes between the vaccine antibodies and the infection antibodies?

You have jumped from a study showing people were 'exposed' to covid to concluding they were infected with covid, without substantiation.
What is asserted without evidence can be dismissed on same basis. At the moment you have no case.

However, given that Sars Cov2 is larger than than influenza virus, it seems unlikely that a physical barrier (mask) would block influenza but not Sars Cov2.....ergo there is something else at play there. The viral competition and interference idea sounds more plausible than a soggy wet mask taken in and out of a pocket for 6 months.
Not to mention said soggy mask would have provided quite the reservoir for gathering virus.
There was also a postulation that aerosols/droplets exhaled through a mask would have been made smaller, a bit like a shower head and the smaller particles would then travel further or 'float' longer in the air, perhaps even aiding transmission.
Not quite the no brainer on first viewing.....if you think about it,.... scientifically!
The reason I posted here was because I had looked in on some of these threads and this one in particular bugged me as people sneered at the 'anti' people and equated being anti restrictions with being 'anti-science'. (I am a scientist by trade btw) When the reality is there was little science behind the restrictions and they really made no difference, while doing considerable harm. Different countries did different things but all largely had the same outcomes overall. Bit by bit this is being acknowledged internationally although not quite in Ireland where it's like the whole thing just didn't happen or many just assume everything done was correct and right.

No I didn't, you understand what seroprevalence is, right? And you understand that people had the virus without knowing because for most people it was extremely mild. You brought up logic. Now use it.

There is plenty of scientific evidence that masks are bullshit, but of course you ignore any of the evidence demonstrating this.

Other studies by CDC and in UK etc showed seroprevalence significantly less than the figures you are quoting from one small study here.
In UK, before Omicron only 40 percent were infected. Then it rose to 70 percent after Omicron. Many restrictions were dropped post Omicron.
So to state everyone got infected and restrictions (such as masks) did nothing on that basis is not supported by evidence. It is directly contradicted and disproven by the timings. Infection can spread in non restricted settings and it is important not everyone gets infected at once.
Your evidence is incomplete and the logical conclusions you draw from it flawed.

I had to do that, well the missus did. Took a test for American travel the day before we were going - postitive. Went to a different place for a test an hour later and got a negative. Great holiday.
I'm not sure it is correct to link flu reduction to mask wearing. Remember there were other measures in place during the period.

True, but we don't know the extent to which each of these measures were effective. It could be that masks, in themselves, contributed very little to the overall reduction in spread.

Indeed it's difficult to measure exactly what had the most impact. However this thread is more about individuals who denied the facts and/or the contrarians/agitators who attacked the science of it.
