If the war ends quickly it simply gives Russia peace to more effectively pillage, rape, murder and kidnap.

Even if the rumours about Putin's health are true and he dies (hopefully roaring) in the near future, whichever of his thugs steps up to assume the position of "President" (realistically, more of a Tzar than a president since the latter implies a democratically elected position) will take the "Russian victory" of having been allowed to hold onto Ukrainian territory via your proposed negotiations as carte blanche to continue trying land grabs from their neighbours leading to more wars (and potentially ones with even higher casualty levels should they attack a NATO member).
Does this war benefit the MIC? Absolutely, no argument from me on that front. All the more reason to end it quickly by arming Ukraine to the teeth.
You are such a 100% contradiction. On the one hand you are suggesting negotiations to end the war and stop all the killing. Then on the other hand you are saying that if there is some agreement reached to stop the war but Russia break it after ,say, three years, then that would give the Ukr a lot of time to build up its equipment and get training in the use of it. FOR WHAT? Don’t tell me it would be to defend itself if ever attacked by another state. God forbid
They are a NATO member, their GDP puts them in with Sweden, Poland, Norway, yet their contribution last year was awful in comparison. They couldn't even organise to buy back the equipment they sold to FTS, so the Brits just went in and paid the price and sent the equipment to Ukraine

Your idea of negotiations is for Russia to tell Ukraine that it is keeping all of the terrirory it's forces now occupy, and if you were to tell me Putin was also going to demand all the territory along the coast up to Transnistria, including Odessa, I wouldn't be in the least suprised, as he's got this mental idea that he always gets what he wants when he uses extreme and obnoxious violence. He has in the past due to western weakness, but not this time.
Russia is not winning this one or getting what it wants this time. The economics of this conflict are so stacked in Ukraine's favour, Russia, with an at best economy the size of Italy's, and now lower export earnings than Ireland, can not win beacuase the west can outspend it with ease.
The Cold War ended because the economic strain on the USSR trying to keep up with merely the US spend on Star Wars, resulted in economic collapse. This is also the endpoint if Russia tries to keep this up.

What you or I would like is just a personal opinion, now when Zelensky starts talking about negotiations, that will be the time to start taking talks seriously. But personally ( again) given Putins murderous rapacious thieving horde's recent history in places that they illegally took position and control of, I'd say that's highly unlikely. Russians killed a lot of Ukrainians in the beginning when the Ukrainians were not as well armed or prepared as they are now, but now, Russians will deservedly pay a very high price for any Ukrainians they kill.
