I have never seen such discrimination as tonight. One traveller punched another traveller in a pub and it spilled onto the road an hour later when machete's and batons were produced and then all of a sudden a car drove through the village wrecking everything in sight. A heap of absolutely innocent lads were hauled off to a Garda station in the aftermath.
The poor souls.

Greece has almost double the number of Police per 100,000 than Ireland. Similar picture with Spain.

Because crime detection rates are so low in Ireland that it pays to be in crime. You go to Spain or Greece and you'll see many more Police.

All the talk is of Rathkeale but in many many towns from Tralee to Longford all over Ireland Travellers are ruling the roost with garda stations closed or guards lazily looking the other way or too disillusioned to tackle them.
Politicans wont talk the truth in the Dail of whats going on in so many towns, Patrick O Donovan & Niall Collins are 2 TD's in County Limerick who are very silent outside of this massive breakdown in law & Order which is featuring on National & International news but they ignore whats going on in Kilmallock, Newcastle West, Abbeyfeale, askeaton etc etc 365 days a year with law abiding people afriad to go about their lives. The State has lost control of many towns.
They go out of their way to not mention the word travellers all the time and the town of rathkeale is always the reference point.
Its the town and the decent people there who get the flak the reputation and the name whilst the actual problem goes unnamed all the time.
It needs to be flipped, rather than Rathkeale being subject to “rival gangs” clashing it should be “unnamed decent rural town subject once more to criminal traveller thugs causing havoc whilst remaining under the protection of being apparently discriminated against due to their culture”

I've dealt with the police in all those countries except Norway, our ethic cousins wouldn't be long piping down with a a lot of those forces.
Even though Travellers are a recognized distinct ethic minority the media will do everything in their power to not recognize that when reporting.

Greece and Spain are safer countries to walk the streets because they have nearly double the number of Police than Ireland and are not tax havens for big wealthy corporations and as a result more money to hire Police officers. Crime detection rates in Ireland are ridiculously low, and it takes longer for a Garda to make an arrest in Ireland unlike in Spain where for example if a Policeman witnesses someone being assaulted, they will draw their weapon and immediately arrest the perpetrator.
Varadkar has really undermined Garda morale. Even the taxi sector has faced a decline of up to 10pc in drivers in the past few years. The soft-on-crime policy. It pays to be in crime in Ireland and an appeasement policy.
The Gardai seem too busy hoisting LGBT flags and dancing on YouTube to address the gradual breakdown of order in the State.
As a country, we do not take our security seriously, neither internally nor at our borders.
We'll continue to pay a high and bloody price for the neglect.

Agree. The current justice system only encourages more Nally's around the country. If the Gardai, justice, courts sysyem and process won't protect ordinary folk, people have no choice but to protect themselves, with what ever means they can ... legal or illegal.
Encourage may be the wrong word, but if people seem to think there are no consequences for this and actions aren't being taken there will be a lashing out of sorts.
