The fact Russia has been sending out T-62s tells it all, artillery shells are running out and Infantry vehicles are almost depleted. He could send a million men into Ukraine but without armour and they'd be blown to bits. Russia is going to slowly beaten back inside its borders and left to rot in sanction hell.
Unless of they were overblown too.
Ahh come off it. It was pretty obvious to nearly everyone analyzing this war that Russia and Putin had planned to try and take Kyiv quickly by overwhelming it. But they seriously misjudged the Ukranian resistance and the capabilities of their own logistics.
Dont try and spew this rubbish about it being their masterplan to draw resources from the East.
Someone needs to find a new hobby,
putinbots
200k to take a country the size of Ukraine who have over 7 million of a population fit for military service with an active personnel of 200k and a reserve of 900k.
Absolute nonsense
The US army would do it with 80-100 k troops
They didnt think they would have to fight them. Ukraine was supposed to be run by a nazi cia regime that no one would fight for. Collapse like a house of cards. Zelensky smuggled out of the country by the CIA.
They dropped their elite paratroops into hostomel airport ahead of the rest of the army.
They werent planning for a war but a coup detat.
This is reflected in all their military dispositions down to use of riot police and lack of rations.
How about before repeating the same question over on over - engaging with the multiple rebuttals already provided.
I'm not asking any question
I'm dealing in fact. The fact that Russia has taken Eastern Ukraine with a force of 200k. The pro separatist regions of donetsk and luhansk are now part of Russia. Just like Crimea. 160k Square kilometres
Hopefully Ukrainian forces using western military equipment can reclaim this ground but its highly unlikely.
That 40 km convoy near Kiev was a distraction as well ?
As for Odessa
"Major General Rustam Minnekayev, acting commander of Russia's Central Military District, said on Friday that Moscow plans to establish full control over the Donbas region and southern Ukraine, as part of the "second phase" of its military operation.
He also claimed that control of southern Ukraine would give Russia a gateway to the breakaway Moldovan region of Trans-Dniester, where there are "facts of oppression of the Russian-speaking population."

Its an unwinnable argument. One minute everything Russia says is lies and propaganda the next their word is taken as gospel
Let's just stick to the facts. donetsk and luhansk is where the fighting is.
Russia didn't say the convoy was 40 km long. Satellite pictures showed that. Your argument is unwinnable. Russia went for Kiev and lost a lot of equipment and paratroopers on the effort. As with Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv. The fact is Kherson is the only regional capital they managed to take and that was aided by sabotage on the Ukrainian side.
The plan by the regime was never to fight a war across all of Ukraine. They wanted to get to Kyiv within 72 hours, capture or kill Zelensky and then immediately install a pro-Putin "Ukrainian" puppet government (and present this as a fait accompli to the West, the 'new reality').
If the aim had simply been to take Donetsk and Luhansk, we would have seen a very different type of war.
Some first class revisionism going on in this thread right now.
Some people can't seem to let go of their cherished belief that Putin has been playing some kind of 4D chess game all along.
The f@@ker could hardly play draughts not to mind Chess's. He has been out taught and out faught by Biden
Russian military parade in Kyiv...
No your just spoofing and repeating Kremlin propaganda.
You presented nothing else
If Russia had wanted to take the Donbass it would have concentrated their at the start and likely have taken it quickly.
Instead it had 2 months of catastrophe in the North of Ukraine, it allowed Ukraine to dig in deeper across the Donbass and for Western weapons to arrive.
It's more than a big ask for us to agree with your outlook on this Tom.
By definition, the poster isn't being ridiculous.
The poster wasn't the one who thought Ukraine could be taken with 200,000 "troops".
Are you connected to Russian embassy staff perhaps, your syntax is almost perfectly colloquial, but not quite.
Isn't that what they tried in Iraq .. no problem taking it ... Holding it was a different story ...
It is nonsense, but that's Putin for you.
It is a matter of facts.
You claim the invasion was only about the east
Yet all the evidence points towards Russia trying to establish a northern Eastern and southern foothold trying to landlock Ukraine.
I agree with you that the 200k troops they had around ukraine would not be enough to occupy the whole country but their goal was to decapitate the government and military command .. the 200k goes a long way as a initial force
That's OK. We all don't have to agree. A variety of views and opinions makes for conversation. Most have put their view and opinion across and I have done with mine.
Isn't that the idea.
There will always be the type who sont have any idea whats going on and just make a personal comment instead. But they are best ignored. That's OK too
I mean it’s not like people can’t go back and read the posts and links in first few hundred pages in this very thread
Thats the thing about Russian propaganda and disinformation it might work swimmingly on low IQ Russians and useful conspiracy theory trump supporting anti vax nutcases here in civilised world
but to normal people it’s just a headscratcher at worst, amusing at best
Yes holding it is a different scenario especially winning hearts and minds. The other issues the US faces is public opinion and even small losses are not liked by the US public Russia would be better when they take a place as there suppression would work better and they take no notice of public opinion
However the US military would defeat an army like the Ukraine's in 2-8 weeks
Taking a country and holding are two different things.
Google translates what the russian said
grenades, mortar - nothing stopped this crazy Ukrainian machine gunner. He sat and continued to bully us. Mines explode near him, and he continues to shoot, giving us no rest at all. Finally, after much suffering, having taken these positions, it turned out that there ...
It turns out it was a remote controlled gun turrent, very clever if the Ukranians using these
Ukrainian losses
Deleted.
Not sure what the Beirut explosion has to do with Ukraine? Then again you posted a fire from the UK yesterday assuming it was in Ukraine 🤷♂️
Is that not the Beirut explosion from a couple of years ago?
