The Starsky YouTube video basically says the west neutered itself by not keeping a big stick . He also insinuates the majority of the world would be celebrating Putins bloody nose to the west. Doesn’t say how the world might react if Putin uses that big stick , I’m not sure anybody wins if nuclear war starts.
What I was waiting to hear was his take on USA. They are ultimately the wests “big stick”. He also didn’t state what he thinks would happen if Putin uses his stick or how the Americans may respond.
The EU is probably going to have to start building up arms but I’m not sure it’s as exposed as he implies , unless the US wouldn’t see a full on invasion of Europe (NATO) as an invasion of themselves. Even for self preservation reasons, surely the US would intervene so at the minimum not to leave themselves totally isolated from anywhere outside their boarders.

Take a listen to the European Commission. It's already underway, it's a crisis and Ukraine will be shuttled to the front of the queue. This is good news for both Ukraine and Europe.
Importantly, is it's a severe kick in the bollocks for the fascist in the Kremlin - who besides being economically crushed and militarily bogged down, is now utterly politically isolated, and the object of his desires is gone for good never to return.

On Ukraine joining the EU, the issue with making any kind of exception is that you're obviously setting a precedent in a number of ways.
For a start if Ukraine are in the EU, then the EU has to assist them, which drags all of Europe into this. That's not a small ask.
You also have other potential joiners who may demand "emergency" membership on the basis of the threat(s) on their borders.
On an economic level, the financial crisis showed us what happens when we ignore some due diligence rules to accept new members into the monetary union. The EU cannot just forgo the membership process, regardless of the emergency.
That said, there is likely some agreement that can be cooked up to give an emergency "transitory" membership status to a nation which provides it with access to some EU benefits like free movement of people and military alignment, but on a fixed-term basis and the understanding that it will not be automatically converted to a full membership at the end of the emergency period.
If the EU start making noises that it is likely to throw some dogs into this fight, Russia might be inclined to back off.

Take out Russian influence with a scalpel and insert European institutions and I think you'll see rapid improvements in short-order. As others have alluded to, the high-level corruption in Ukraine is down to Kremlin-connected oligarchs (Donbas as an industrial centre was infested with them) in heavy industry and oligarchs in the gas industry, also a spillover from dirty practices in Russia - and needless to say, intimately connected with Russia.
There's a war on low-level every day corruption in Ukraine, most notably the police which has been completely reformed (the gendarmerie, the Berkut was completely scrubbed as it was largely in the pay of Russian influence and agents) and in the health service.
Don't be confused or naiive, yes, Ukraine has a corruption problem, but it's also a Russian problem. People who talk about Western meddling need to have their head checked, Russian oligarchs and the Russian state have been feasting on Ukraine like a buffet since the end of the Cold War.
Know the detail and know the history. Wikipedia pages don't cut it. Otherwise, you end up like Tucker Carlson on Fox News, lapping up repurposed Kremlin propaganda, thinking like you know something, but are in fact a stooge in the information war.
