Anyone know what is his medical exception?
To be fair, there is no suggestion that Djokovic didn't have to be tested, or that he wasn't tested.
The English cricket team?
Possible. But he's also nutty. Here's a video of him talking about changing water with positive emotion and prayer.
Ben Rothenberg on Twitter: "Let's not lose sight of how wildly anti-science Djokovic has publicly been for years. Here he was last year preaching about how you can change water with emotion. Naive, but maybe these real consequences today can be a reality check for his nonsense? https://t.co/LyJbJTvb9W" / Twitter
If so, that would be a pretty dumb calculation. The risk of contracting covid, and of suffering a prolonged period of inability to perform/sub-par performance as a consequence, is vastly, vastly greater than the risk of a bad reaction to the vaccine resulting in a prolonged period of etc. He reduces his risk by taking the vaccine; he increases it by not being vaccinated.
I would say the majority have had very little reaction bar a sore arm so that doesn't really massively hold up.
Maybe he should look at kimmich or Choupo Moting at Bayern (both refused vaccine)..both got covid and hit hard, kimmich has been out for months and only back training now.
well, not having the vaccine has definitely cost him at least one tournament now.
i've read that peter sagan was taking that approach; it's not working out well for him either.
There always in trouble with the Aussies 😂
He's always been a bit of a wanker. That tweet he sent before getting on his flight was moronic, if he'd just kept his mouth shut he'd have been fine but he just couldn't help himself. The fact that he's desperate to be loved like Federer/Nadal despite being undoubtedly better than either of them now makes it all the more hilarious.
I guess Victoria thought that as 9-time Australian open champion, the public wanted him to play, so they fudged things around the exemption.
But they misjudged the mood, and when the mood became clear, things changed swiftly, and Scott Morrison got to flex his muscles for the win.
I see Chris smalling just got his vaccine in Italy as they were going to stop him from playing, i don't agree calling anyone names like above it's his body and his choice, but there is consequences to that decision, as he is now finding out.
I think the tweet was the problem... he should have kept quiet...
I agree but he has always been a bit of an touchy self centered hot head, I reckon he had no official medical exemption.
I prseume he wasnt fully vaxxed either.
Im glad the ABF refused him entry and rightly so, apparently he is being held on appeal before consideration of being deported, lol
ABF dont take any lame excuses when it comes to protecting their borders.

What was his tweet? Im not on Twitter?
I wonder if it's a case that the Victorian government told him in principle that he had the exemption and granted the visa, but the small print said that the proof would still be required to be physically presented before entering the country. Either not spotting this, or being so arrogant as to think it wasn't important then he turned up, didn't have the proof and got sent on his way.
What a moron.
Maybe, but that’s not much use when he can’t physically get into the countries that host grand slams, because he refuses to get vaccinated.
I also think that if he just hadn’t tweeted about it, he probably would have been fine.
This is the tweet, for anyone wondering:

Someone told me, I don't know how much truth there is in it, that in communist times the governments would trial vaccines on people without their permission and that their distrust has continued on. I dunno, could be stories.
In Romania in particular, Ceaușescu engaged in all sorts of broad social and medical experiments that resulted in generations of women effectively being forced to have children and then having to hand them over to orphanages because they were unable to care for them. The orphanages were little more than concentration camps for children, where they were neglected, tortured and experimented on by the authorities. Disabled children especially were treated like animals, and many healthy children became disabled in the homes due to their exposure to treatable illnesses, malnutrition or injury.
As a result, there is widespread distrust of the government in Romania in relation to health care and children rights. I expect even if the situation wasn't quite so grim in Serbia, the distrust would certainly overflow from Romania in terms of "look at the damage they might do".
Do you actually need to be vaccinated in order to enter Australia?
Oh boy. Way to turn this into a rant against an entire country. Actually shoehorn Soviet in there to include maybe Russia in your diatribe.
That he had medical exemption... i chink it was clear from the beginning the rules were bent for him and he may have being ok had he stayed quiet... thats just my view...
Serbian athletes wouldn't exactly have the cleanest record in terms of doping in recent times.
Whenever I hear of medical exemptions, the controversies in cycling come to mind.
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it emerges over time that it was more than a diet change that saw Novak eventually dominate the sport. Which makes his anti-vax stance even more brain-dead.
No. If a person arrives in Victoria unvaccinated then they need to spend 14 days in quarantine.

I think the most likely outcome is that Djokovic will be allowed into Australia but will have to quarantine for the 14 days. The tournament starts on the 17th of January. ABF really won't care if Djokovic is scheduled to play while in quarantine. They will most likely stick to their guns and keep him in quarantine meaning he'll have to forfeit any match he can't play unless Tennis Australia accommodate him by arranging the first round draw around his quarantine period.
All the rules (and exceptions) are in the link below, but the sentence "For travel into and out of Australia, travellers must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination." is pretty prominent on the page.

Wonder will he be on one those" border patrol ,anything to declare" type tv programs .
I hope he brought lots of spare racquets.
Each state has their own rules. The link I provided above for Victoria gives information for unvaccinated arrivals.
The ABF are a federal body and follow federal rules.
Yes in terms of visas. Once a person passes the border state rules apply as far as I know but I'm open to correction.
but they haven't passed the border. ABF refused them entry is my understanding.
Even if that’s true he’s still a complete clown. 🤡 I like to give athletes credit for prioritising their careers as much the next man but I don’t think that includes flitting about from continent to continent without a vaccine during a pandemic. He’s a complete gimp and he needs a serious boot up the hole.
his wealth and their lifestyle inures his immediate family from any kind of contact with reality so you have to cut her some slack here. She’s no different from any other super millionaire it’s just that they are extremely to the right instead of hard left.
One is as bad as the other.
