This question goes out those who took the 2 jabs? Will you you take it to get back to normality? Or are you sick of the government moving the goalposts constantly?
I agree with pretty much everything you've said there and I think it is a rational most share.
I was just arguing the point on alcohol.
3 days in the leaba. Up and eating normally now.
If we play ifs and buts, who knows how effective the vaccines will be against future variants
I mean, it’s hardly surprising that a cage fighter feels somewhat like a Demi-god compared to the rest of us couch potatoes?!
No, I am not a betting man.
I believe a quip is supposed to be funny. Would you like to explain what is funny about that statement?
Because, presumably to everyone reading this thread, it seems that you said "there’s no downside" to wearing a seatbelt, and then when I gave you one, i.e. that it can trap you, it appears that you couldn't understand why in certain circumstances you couldn't simply unbuckle yourself, i.e. I had to go through baby steps to explain to an engineer why a seatbelt could lead to a preventable death, and that you have since backtracked on what you said.
so many weirdos on here 😐️
well it's 1 in 5 vs 1 in 100. I was just arguing given the mortality rate of cancer reducing that risk by 20% would be a no brainer.
I don't know what the cut off rate would be to make the juice worth the squeeze when all is considered, I don't think my brain is big enough to compute a coherent answer to that one at this hour so I'll leave it there.
Come on, man.
“I’m trapped”. “Hit the big red release button”.
Did you really expect a full multi factorial analysis on the causes of deaths in motor vehicle accidents?
YOU ARE RIGHT. Are you happy?
I won't be getting the booster as I got covid 2 weeks ago. Yes I was double vaccinated, no I wasn't boosted. A hell of a lot of people who had the booster got omicron, therefore it doesn't seem to offer protection. Degree of illness is very mild with this version of covid. Bring on herd immunity.
Another one.
Hey, I got my booster :D
No, I expect an adult to admit they were wrong and then to continue to expand on their argument regardless with their other valid points, rather than weakening their argument by backtracking and only admitting their mistake once it is dragged out of them.
Eddie thinks the vaccine prevents the recipient from getting Covid. There is no vaccine for that type of thinking.
Sorry, man, I can’t admit I was wrong when I know in my heart of hearts that I fully understand the limitations of the 3-point seatbelt. And that you’re a bit dour.
Paolo
just say you “misspoke”. That is fine for Aristotle.
So you're "you are right" statement is just another quip? Or is it perhaps sarcasm this time?
Is there any point in anyone having a conversation with you if it's impossible to tell if what you're saying is what you believe or completely the opposite?
The man asked if the booster programme is the way forward, and you posted a link to an article in which the the word booster is not used once?
Really, man, dour is too accurate for you.
You know that I know all about the points you were trying to enlighten me about the dreaded seat belt.
PM me. Let’s talk engineering. I’m not a looney.
I already resigned and cancelled myself and it’s still not enough blood.
So, no response to my questions, only personal attacks?
You are free to create a thread in the engineering forum about your area and I will respond in kind, I would feel too guilty if I was the only to read about it via PM.
I can’t see any question I left unanswered but if you think I attacked you then I apologise.
It's being spammed to all threads, ironic that Britain did get a lot wrong (author obviously doesn't count NI in their calculations) but not for the reasons outlined.
The entirety of my post contained only questions.
You believe you answered these questions? And calling me dour is what, another quip I guess that you don't really mean?
The “You are right” statement was an admission that you are right about seat belts.
I think there is a point in having a conversation with me because I am a turn-coat pro vaxxer, trained as an engineer, that is questioning to efficacy of the booster programme for low risk groups. I occasionally make smart arse remarks and jokes that aren’t intended to offend.
And how exactly are we supposed to tell that statements like "Of course I would wear a seat belt, there’s no downside. Bad analogy.", "Hey man, there’s a big red button that releases the catch." and "if your unconscious then your not going to performing a Houdini escape, seat belt or not." are jokes?
Because it seems more likely that you didn't think they weren't jokes when you said them, and are instead now claiming they they were jokes to save face now that you've realised those statements are quite silly for someone to say.
And you lived to tell the tale.
First comment: I left out the word negligible. And I did a following risk assessment of how they weren’t comparable.
Second comment: was a joke, I couldn’t resist the Dougal Maguire big red button imagery.
Third comment: I was responding to your scenario of the unconscious person. Then you threw in there in afterwards about rescue teams etc. (changing factors)
Great advert for boosters: “it won’t kill you”
So, for example, your third comment is not a joke and therefore you're acknowledging that you hadn't considered rescue teams until after I mentioned it? Otherwise, what is the purpose of this comment? If you're unconscious and the car is on fire, and if this is a serious comment, what does it highlight exactly? It seems to me that you thought the only possibility to escape in that situation was to "Houdini" your way out, and not be rescued by others, which is odd.
Anyway, you're either 1) making a lot of silly statements, 2) replying to my questions with jokes, or 3) a combination of the above. In any case, you're not giving me any good reasons to have a conversation with you.
Probably the second best one there is.
Honestly, car on fire, unconscious. Rescue team ain’t getting there quick enough. Let’s hope you’re in a built up area with a hero among us.
Have you ever been in an engineering design meeting? Do you write down every mis-quote from your peers and try to steer the conversation back to that? Do you therefore try to stifle debate?
Or, do you try to look around the room and listen to peoples’ core message to try to find the way forward?
Do you act differently in real life vs. an Internet forum? Bravery.
Eh, what? The last sentence is quite clearly what I was referring to. I do not mean that police arrive and pull you out alive ten minutes after you've been on fire. Another odd statement on your behalf, and one I don't think you can claim is a joke this time.
So, you're admitting then that if you're car is on fire and you're unconscious, the best chance of survival that you could think of at the time was to somehow Houdini your way out rather than be rescued by someone nearby. A very interesting thought process for an engineer.

No, I instead respond to questions with answers rather than jokes. Or I admit that my stance is wrong, rather than backtrack, so we can move on.
No, I call out falsehoods in both situations, and I call out people who try to hide from their falsehoods in both situations also.
