Gavan Reilly reporting again that the pre travel requirement will be dropped.
As in pre travel into the country?
So is antigen testing accepted for adults that are vaccinated travelling into Ireland from Spain ? kids under 12 exempt yeah ?
I was reading a vanguardia article earlier that was saying Ireland needs PCR ?
@faceman you live in Spain too correct?
The current rules (which may change soon per Gavan Reilly above) are that you need a PCR within 72 hours or an antigen within 48 hours. The antigen must be an officially administered one, not a DIY.

Where is he getting this from ???
Antigen is accepted for fully vaccinated, PCR for unvaccinated and kids below 12 are exempt.
I wonder did the EU meeting yesterday put the foot down on countries making up their own travel rules
Unlikely considering Italy and Greece just introduced pre-departure tests.
I'll be pleasantly surprised if they actually drop the tests this quickly. Usually these "temporary" measures take months to be reversed.
I live between both and currently en route back to Spain as we speak.
Antigen tests accepted in to ireland if you’re fully vaccinated. Not sure the cut off age for kids.
Hasn't stopped France!
We were considering cancelling our trip to the Canaries for New Years due to testing to get back in as didn't want to risk getting stuck there with kids etc and work. If they drop the testing that would be great (we are boostered), fingers crossed.
They're not stopping travel from an EU member state tho
Hope it all works out for you, should be grand
As the Driver says, this does not apply to non EU countries. France is within its right to do what it is doing for France. The same as we currently do for the Southern Africa countries.
I presume the EU is allowing the temporary nature of an individual country putting in what they see fit such as testing. But it must only be temporary in nature. With us at 30% Omicron at this stage, we ain't slowing down its spread by restricting incoming travel. It's well and truly here already.
The next question for me is, what country in the EU is pretty much open at the moment (with covid passes if necessary)? Might work away for a week or two in January.
As of now coming into Spain you just need the EU covid pass .. no testing ...
Everything pretty much open, but they are fairly married to masks here - even outside - allthough it's not mandatory to wear a mask outdoors.
Take it any day over Ireland tho...
Poland is still relatively relaxed at the moment, was just looking into this.
https://www.gov.pl/web/coronavirus/temporary-limitations - "Max. 30% seating capacity in restaurants, bars, hotels, cinemas, theaters, sports and religious facilities. An increase in the limit is possible only for vaccinated persons, after verification by the entrepreneur on the basis of a COVID-19 certificate", effectively open for vaccinated folks.
However things are changing so quickly now, it's hard to make a booking at the moment and be sure the restrictions will be the same once you arrive.
No changes to travel lads?
Na doesn’t look like it!
Must be pressure from EU that kept it that way because our spineless charlatans didn’t make that decision themselves.
thank God for small mercy’s on another proud to be Irish day. Ole ole ole you’ll never beat the Irish.
What happened to Gavin Reilly saying that testing for travel was going to be removed? He must be feeling mortified right now.
By his latest tweet about it, it seems nphet didn’t recommend it but it won’t be needed as two weeks has passed ?
So how can Gavin Reilly spout this rubbish ?
Surely he would have it by a reliable source ? why would he just make this **** up ? it's **** up a lot of people's plans ..
So has pcr/antigen for entry been dropped?
Can anyone clarify this please?
Updated yesterday - seems to be no change https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/77952-government-advice-on-international-travel/
Has there been any news on the length of validity of the EU Digital Cert ?
Also, anything on when Booster details will be added to it ?
Thanks no change so.
There is some changes coming though - hopefully only to the PLF.
There hasn't been any central decision, but I think the proposal on EU level is 9 months.
In relation to the booster details, I would also like to know. The last time the certificate was emailed to me, I wonder if it will be similar?
In Greece my parents did their booster and the updated certificate was available for them the next day.
How are restrictions in Greece?
Lovely Country - would like to go back someday. Had been talking about a change from France in Summer 2022. Have 2 kids 12 & 15.
