Its not that simple when you are dealing with a moving target and Ireland can't act alone to ignore it
I'm not happy with the situation either but it is what it is
At least its only an extra antigen
Things could be an awful lot worse
Here's the full announcement
So what counts as approved professionals? Is there a list or any pharmacy?
If they can provide a travel cert with the test details basically.
Some pharmacies do them. There's a list here but there'll be more so it's not complete but gives an idea. I.e go safe isn't on the list but it's grand to travel on their tests
I'm the same as yourself DLink.
Only got it for travel - and had plenty of trips away without being infected with the virus. Or maybe it was so deadly I didn't know I had it.
I had a pretty poor reaction to the vaccine so there's any chance of a Booster gone out the window.
This is what I worked off today when I booked one for myself . But I’m in limbo with other muffled information which came from another government publication today .
I need one in the UK not here though so I'm hoping one of the pharmacies can do it
What is the penalty, what happens if a vaccinated Irish citizen lands in Ireland with no test?
That was the situation in the summer. You can test in Dublin flying out and it covers the return journey on short flights.
Yes, it's as stupid as it sounds.
From the clowns who thought ticketed nightclubs would prevent disease better than antigen tests.
Follow the science.
Of course this would kick in the week before my trip.
Thankfully, testing here is fairly well run (Vancouver), so I can get an antigen test before my flight at the airpot with the results in 20 minutes.
Praise Moses.
I booked an antigen test in a walk in test centre in Manchester Airport this Friday before I fly back to Ireland and will have the results sent to my email address so I'm assuming that will be acceptable
Have also taken a few flights this year, nursed a tin of Pringles on most of them to avail of the "no mask required while eating" rule 😀
I visited countries where covid isn't a thing, masks were optional or not bothered with, and I'm still here. The big yellow signs on the walls that greet you upon arrival in the Ryanair terminal at Dublin Airport would just make your heart sink.
I was bent in a hoop after both vaccine jabs, and while I will eventually take the booster, I'll take it at a time of my choosing, and I'll make sure it's on Sunday so I can go sick from work on Monday.
If I'm going to get sick for Tony & Mehole, I might as well get sick on someone else's time 😈
I got vaccinated both for travel and for the protection it offers. In my job I have to be on site, in classrooms without social distancing and with people whose vaccination status is not declared. I also have to fill in a declaration to my employer if I have been abroad. For me, travelling on a plane presents less risk than my day to day - at least the aircraft has proper filtration and the status of people around me is declared. Now the government want us to take an antigen test on arrival from abroad, what a bloody joke. I should be taking an antigen test everyday I arrive for work.
Can I book a test center test for travel on Saturday or do I have to pay for one?
In theory, they shouldn't be able to as they should be refused boarding
I wouldn't try it myself now
I hear you
What they are doing though is recognising that some vaccinated travellers carry covid
They are no longer willing to turn a blind eye to this untill more is known about omicron which is going to take scientists a few weeks to ascertain
In the meantime, they want to make sure you don't have covid with the new variant coming in
Of course you could still have it but it hasn't been in you long enough yet to show in an antigen
Its all just extra mitigation
You could also catch it after you get tested. I'm getting mine done sat then off out for lunch, and then maybe out again later that evening.
Pub lunch on Sunday and not sure where we are going Sunday evening. Train to the airport on Monday and check in for the flight with a negative test. Back into work Tuesday and there you go.
Nope, has to be a private one. A HSE standard test center will not give you a cert, and the text saying "you are negative" will not do.
I can kinda see why they don't do it, or you'd have thousands of people daily wanting to get tested just so they could travel.
Wondering what choice people will make in this situation.
Fully vaccinated and travelling over next few weeks. We now need an antigen test to return home. When away I Decide to take self administered antigen tests every day as a precaution.
If one tested positive on a self administered test would you extend stay voluntarily and move flights for a few days? Or take the formal test which you are likely to test positive for Covid and ‘officially’ have Covid with all that entails?
So , after spending more time reading up online , I can’t establish if my antigen test completed in Ireland in an approved centre will satisfy the requirement to allow me board my flight home from UK .(coming home within 48 hours of leaving Ireland )
anyone any insight or anything concrete ?
Thanks !
Has anyone in the media cared to ask whether the covid cert is now redundant for pubs and restaurants? And if it’s not redundant then why?
A colleague of mine hasn't had a holiday abroad in over 2 years. He was supposed to be heading off to Disneyland Paris next weekend. Kids have been all excited about it for months.
This evening they've decided not to go. Not just the extra cash but the risk that one of them tests positive over there.
He's followed every regulation, him and kids have vaccination certs, but they've been fcuked over by the government. Just another casualty because the bunch of cowards in charge want to be seen to be doing something.
I tested positive 4 weeks ago, do I need a test to travel to Ireland from Scotland?
What exactly do you mean by people who have lived their life? Are you seriously suggesting that once people reach a certain age they can be just left to die? Yours has to be one of the most insensitive comments I ve ever had the misfortune to read. Just for your own information not everyone that has died are elderly.... I unfortunately know of 5 people who have lost their lives to this horrible virus- two in their 50s and 3 in their late 30s and 40s. Think before you type.
Yes.
What if I still test positive?
I just answered your original question I don't have a clue but I presume you are not permitted to travel.
In situations where a person is required to present evidence of a negative ('not detected') RT-PCR test result prior to travel, and is unable to do so due to a persistently positive RT-PCR test after recovery, then a positive RT-PCR test result will be acceptable which was taken no less than 11 days and no more than 180 days prior to arrival to the State.
Thanks, I understand you answered my 1st question, much obliged!
Hopefully someone else has insite into my follow on question, good day to you sir.
Very helpful thank you!
So they will accept my positive test result from 4 weeks ago, only after I pay 150 euro initially to prove I'm still testing positive?
My original test is worthless until it's not.
My head is spinning
