Some farce and added cost to a trip
So say if someone was going for a day trip to the UK for a match or something. Would they be better off getting tested in Ireland the day before and use that result on the way back ?
Still awaiting the full update to be published, but you can use anitgen, doesn't need to be a PCR.
Gavan is usually spot on, just got his times mixed up
You must be in a risk group or a health care worker if you have already got your booster
You only got vaccinated for foreign travel?
Are you sure you have your priorities right ?
Yes. Get it out of the way before you go and you're free to go about your business in the Uk (assuming it's negative). Doesn't seem to make much sense but there we are....
Hopefully it's only for the 2 week period. I have my doubts though.....
Oh right, but it's not a home anti-gen, it has to be an approved one by a healthcare professional ie: time, cost and effort and against the EU travel cert rules.
Absolute bollocks, they can **** off now asking me to get another vaccine.
No not a home antigen test & no it's not against the EU travel cert rules. A country can apply the emergency break mechanism. Portugal have already done so
Regardless of my priorities wasn't I a good little girl who done what the government wanted? And now I'm still dealing with massive inconveniences like this. The anti vaxers are laughing at us
Thats a very very selfish attitude in my opinion
You might change your mind when the booster programme is finished and next Summer, the rules become 3 jab EUDCC,no test
2 jab pcr
Selfish on who?
Someone is making a fúcking fortune from PCR and Antigen Tests.
Cool.
Due to fly to Poland tomorrow, first time flying since all this shite started. Due back Sunday. Fully Vax'd and only recently recovered from Covid - so have both QR codes - vaxd and recovered....and now none of these are valid and I need to get an antigen/PCR before I fly home which may still have trace covid from when I had it?
cool cool cool.
cool.
No john, it's very straightforward actually. Much easier than getting a dog wormed abroad 🙂
That's exactly my point as well. People say oh I won't want a booster but I also don't want to pay for tests. Can't have it both ways. I'll take a booster over the cost of PCRs
I don't for one second doubt you were alone in your reasons - it's the only reason i done it too - parents live abroad and i wanted to see them without any hassle, no other reason!
Booking new flights to Belfast is cheaper than a PCR test so I'll be doing that and getting the train down.
Yea they will force it of course but what would be the point in taking part? Recent history has shown us its all bullshit - your 'freedom' will only be tempoary until its time for the 4 jab EUDCC, the 5 jab EUDCC etc.
**** that, im not taking part in that anymore. If i have to get a test, thats very annoying as well of course but there is literally no alternative by the looks of things.
But I have both vaccinations and a booster and yet I still need to get an antigen test this weekend. Despite having been swabbed again at work this week.
Absolutely. Why should it matter to someone on the Internet how 'selfish' we are once we got the vaccine? What more do they want?
I only got vaccinated so I could travel easily without having pay for tests. Definitely won’t be bothering with the booster- don’t see the point now.
I'm sure a lot of people only got vaccinated to avoid the expense of PCR tests when travelling - I know that's literally the only reason I got the kids vaccinated.
In one fell swoop, the brains-trust of Government have just removed any incentive to get boosters for a lot of people.
They can fcuk-off as far as I'm concerned. I'm not going to play their makey-uppey Covid-theatre games any more.
TBH, i couldn't give a flying f* what someone on the internet thinks - everyone has their reasons for why they have or haven't been vaccinated - our reason is travel, others reason is "for the greater good" and those who haven't gotten it done, their reasons are also valid and i respect everyone's decision!
BUT.......now we have to wonder what is the point of the booster etc (unless of course your reason is "for the greater good" which i respect) but for everyone else, and i imagine it's a huge percentage but most won't admit to it, what is the actual point if your travel and your freedoms are still going to be restricted???
A friend asking me here about pre flight covid tests, she is look at the Randox facility Dublin airport, and gosafe48 facility in Dublin city centre.
I assume all the same for the requirements for coming back into Dublin ( she on short trip also ) , only difference between these places is the price ?
Anything to watch out for for one of these places issuing the travel cert ?
Thanks
I'm flying from England to Dublin Saturday .does the lateral flow test test need to be done by a company? I work on NHS and have lateral flow I do myself, will that be enough
Christ almighty. The reason for the vaccine and the booster is so you'd don't end up in hospital or intensive care if you catch it. Without the vaccine we'd now be in lock down again and there'd be thousands in hospital and intensive care. It's got sweet fúck all to do with travel. I can't believe that people are really so bloody stupid.
But what happens when the test aspect is removed and it goes back to being 2 dose valid for travel or later on 3 dose valid for travel as per the current EU talks ?
What then ? If you don't get a booster then your backing yourself into the corner to pay for the PCR tests to travel.
If the option put infront of me in 2022 is booster and I can travel against staying at 2 doses and needing to pay 60 or 70 quid maybe more each way for tests, I'll pick booster all day long.
I used go safe when I needed my PCR for travel, no issues with them
Ugh, now for a simple day trip to the UK on the ferry next week I'll need an antigen test the day before to last me the trip. That's so annoying.
No, needs to be done by a company, self testing not allowed .
No, you need to book one of the private companies to do the test
