But at least it can be antigen
Back to this bullshit again. 😡 Best of luck getting people to get boosted if it offers no difference for things like travel
https://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/new-covid-testing-requirements-for-arrivals-being-considered-by-government-1220456.html
And the Independent reports the opposite.
Btw Portugal already brought in with the IT reports last week. Personally I don't see it having an impact on booster campaign because eventually it'll be 3 doses to travel regardless or do anything when you arrive at your destination.
Right approach until we know more about the variant tbh.
Which is free in the night life areas
I mean needing a test vaccinated or unvaccinated will mean people won't bother. It's one of the biggest reasons anyone uncertain gets vaccinated tbh.
No I mean say for example next summer or whenever countries such as Portugal for example drop the test + vaccine rule, they're likely to drop it to vaccine but 3 doses, so by then if people want to go on holidays etc won't have much choice but to get a booster if they want to avoid paying for tests etc, same as we had the summer just gone.
Most likely but if they don't and others countries follow suit on that (or Ireland just do it), it will drop people wanting to get vaccinated.
Not according to health experts with experience in dealing with outbreaks.
And not according to the science either
But i meant the travelling one, also antigen tests are accepted for pax arriving by air
There goes another christmas ....and OF COURSE Ireland wanting the more expensive PCR ....
$$$$$ racket $$$$$
bs
I have AerLingus flights for Christmas ... I think I can move them for free...
Sturgeon wanting 8 day self quarantine for all arrivals into the UK. Losing the plot completely
Of course it'll be PCRs on arrival to Ireland. From everywhere, including the UK. Just as it was before.
Does anyone seriously think they won't push the panic button?
It's an interesting one. Probably this will happen so that the government is seen to be doing something, but there are a few different considerations than the last occasions they've introduced this stuff - the impact on travel would be much greater due to larger numbers now, there seems wider awareness that travel measures don't really do anything and the variant is, we are increasingly seeing, already right across Europe and here in Ireland.
I have two friends who have dying relatives elsewhere in the EU they are visiting as regularly as possible at the moment - they will be particularly nervous to see the decision.
I don’t think that there will be formal travel restrictions. Just PCRs on arrival such that the financial cost disincentivises travel.
With Aer Lingus you can.
As it happened they already cancelled my flight to Vienna on the 10th of next month so I’m entitled to a total refund.
Unfortunately I booked my return leg for the 13th with Ryanair as they were cheaper at the time, but they won’t even allow me to change my dates without having to pay the €45 change of dates fee which is very bold for a country that is in lockdown. Even more infuriating that they brought in their “free flight change” policy a week after I booked with them.
Hoping to get more clarity on this soon. I fly next week from Canada so I will need a PCR test if Ireland panics and implements this crap.
Yay to spending more money...
The Ryanair "free change of flights" not-surprisingly involves never being able to find replacement flights on any dates for anything less than about 4 times what you paid for the originals.
It's a typical ryanair stitch up job. You can change, but they'll make sure the "incremental cost" of the new flights means in reality you won't.
Every time I'm dumb enough to book a trip with them they remind me why I despise them .
So, what do people reckon will happen tomorrow on travel restrictions to/from Ireland ?
What will it mean for the EU DCC?
Probably be the similar to Portugal.
EU DCC isn't going anywhere for travel. Boosters will eventually be added to it probably. The discussion is underway at EU level on that so you'd imagine in 2022 whatever is brought in now would be dropped for the cert being valid for travel with 3 doses once the EU finalise proposals.
Do you have to take one at the airport?
How does it even work?
Bad bit of grammar on my part. You'd have to have a private PCR within say 48 hours of arrival in Ireland.
You must take the test within 72 hours of arrival in Ireland.
RTE going with pre-arrival (max 72 hours) professional Antigen test
https://www.rte.ie/news/2021/1129/1263691-nphet-politics-ireland-covid/
Who’s going to check up on that?
How soon would it be before they implement it ?
I am due to fly to Uk Thursday lunchtime , back Friday evening , I’ll wait to see what’s announced, but I assume I’d have to get an antigen test ( if that’s the option they go with) from an official approved test facility in Uk ?
This from rte.
“This would need to be completed a maximum of 72 hours before arriving in the country.”
I know when I travelled on the tests in Aug they were checked by the Airline
You can take it before you leave as your trip is within the 72 hour window
just finished uploading documents and filling in forms for my trip to Florida tomorrow- felt a bit like applying to emigrate rather than go on holidays…..might just stay there as it may be easier.
I love Ireland almost as much as I love leaving it at the moment!
